00:00It is possible that Senate President Francis Escudero did not agree with the House Prosecution Panel's request for Vice President Sara Duterte to answer on the articles of impeachment.

00:11This is the report of Daniel Manalas Taas.

00:16After the House Prosecution Panel requested Senate President Francis Escudero to answer Vice President Sara Duterte on the articles of impeachment,

00:25even though Escudero will formally answer the letter to him from the congressmen,

00:30it seems that the SP will not allow their request.

00:34Escudero said that if the Senate has a session, the articles of impeachment can be presented and the impeachment court can also convene here.

00:43Did they present the articles of impeachment in plenary? Did the court convene? Not yet.

00:50This can't be done during recess. The difference between the two during the hearing of the Senate is that it doesn't need to be memorized and it should be.

01:05But the congressmen are not happy with the time and they have the right to do so.

01:10But Escudero will not do anything illegal, except if there is a special session that he will be called for.

01:18If they want to have a debate, maybe this is the last advice. I learned this when I was young, sometimes it's easier, sometimes it takes longer.

01:28Maybe later they will give additional reasons and weapons, what they demand, what they impeach, to question the process in the Supreme Court.

01:40I would rather be more prudent and more closely faithful to what the law provides than go through these experimental procedures.

01:51Senator Alan Peter Cayetano responded to Escudero's statement.

01:55My point is, I understand, you want to start it, I understand, you want to preserve the evidence, I understand that you're ready for everything,

02:04but you gave it to the Senate on the last day. For me, it doesn't make a difference whether it's June or July.

02:11But remember, we are 24. So that's all for me, stop beating a dead horse, prepare yourself, that's good.

02:21The House Prosecution Panel insisted that they will wait for the formal answer of the Senate on their motion,

02:28that they are not just doing their job. Aside from the Senate, the prosecution team also gave a copy of their motion to VP Duterte's office.

02:39With all due respect to our Senate President, we are only being responsive to the mandate of the provisions of the Constitution.

02:50We understand that the interpretation of the Senate is different, but we have a different position on the matter.

02:58This is the reason why we filed the motion for the issuance of the wreath of summons.

03:03We want to be responsive and compliant to our duty under the Philippine Constitution.
