00:00Hi, my name is Danessa Myricks, founder of Danessa Myricks Beauty.
00:11My favorite beauty product in rotation from my brand is the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder.
00:17I mean, that's my everyday, literally can't leave the house without it.
00:21Right now, I'm obsessed with the trend about blush, everything blush, blush everywhere,
00:27over blushing.
00:28I think it's amazing because me, growing up, throughout my adult life, I was never able
00:33to wear blush.
00:34And now I'm living in it, feeling confident in it, and I love seeing, especially women
00:38of color, feeling really confident wearing blush.
00:42The trend that I believe will never go out of style is just everyday, natural, living
00:47in your own skin beauty.
00:49I mean, people fundamentally want to look like themselves, feel like themselves, so
00:54just that natural, everyday glam, it's here to stay.
00:57I think someone's reading my mind because my favorite beauty era is the 90s.
01:02Bring it back, keep it here forever and ever.
01:05The 90s was so fun, so bold, so just in your face, so confident, so beautiful, so strong.
01:15I'm still there.
01:16I'm still there.
01:17As of late, my biggest source of inspiration is people, the conversations that I have when
01:23I meet people on the street, when I'm walking through the aisles of Sephora and the things
01:27that people say to me, the people in my life, my mom, my family, just the people who you
01:33wouldn't expect to feel connected to me.
01:37Having a conversation around beauty and what their needs are, what they feel like in their
01:41own skin, how I can make them feel more confident, it's people all day.
01:45Wow, my first thought when Sephora called was, no way, Jose, can't do it, how am I gonna
01:52make this product?
01:53I can't pack Sephora orders from my living room floor, what am I gonna do?
01:58And when I calmed down, I was like, wow, this can actually change my life and this is gonna
02:03help us change the world.
02:05The advice I always give to aspiring artists, entrepreneurs, is to hold on to who they are.
02:13What makes us special is what we bring to the table.
02:16It's something that I've often forgotten my journey and the magic happens when you
02:23are yourself, showing up authentically who you are.
02:27So hold on to that, just who you are is important.
02:30The lesson that sticks out to me the most in these two decades is, you are the magic.
02:35I used to search outside of myself for validation, for acceptance, for answers, for strategy,
02:45for direction, and what it always comes back to is me.
02:49So the biggest lesson is that you are the magic, always.
