More than 100 individuals participated in a civilian defense drill in Taipei on Saturday to prepare for possible wartime emergencies and natural disasters.

00:37Taiwan faces growing threats from China, and is also prone to natural disasters like earthquakes
00:42and typhoons.
00:44The civil defence group regularly trains civilians in basic first aid, evacuation planning, spotting
00:50disinformation from China and cyber security.
01:08This year, over a hundred people participated, the highest number since Kuma Academy started
01:14such exercises in 2023.
01:16And those who are new to this kind of training say it's a valuable lesson.
01:36The government is also stepping up efforts to strengthen civil defence, with the goal
01:40of training 100,000 civilians as disaster prevention specialists by 2025, and more
01:46people take part in these drills.
01:48The hope is to build a stronger and more prepared public.
