Footage shows drivers pulling over in the street to watch the substation blaze near Heathrow airport.
Dozens of vehicles pulled over on the Haye bypass on March 20, at 11:57pm.
The London fire brigade was called at 23:23pm after receiving 212 calls to a fire in a high voltage substation.
Two fire engines and 70 firefighters attended the scene.
As a result of the fire Heathrow Airport is without power and will remain closed until 23:59 on March 21, leaving thousands stranded.
The passerby, who filmed the footage and wants to remain anonymous said: "We saw it from the M4, we were amazed.
"As we were getting closer, the fire was getting bigger and bigger - it was unbelievable.
"So many people had pulled over on the side of the road to take pictures and have a look at what was going on."
