00:00A relative of the victim, EJK, was arrested when his family was under investigation.

00:11Some of them were called to join the Philippines in the ICC.

00:22I remember what the investigator told us.

00:25We just filed a case right after the termination of President Duterte.

00:31That's what Shira Escudero told a policeman who was investigating the murder of her brother, Efraim Escudero.

00:40Efraim is one of the so-called collateral damage or who was involved in the drug war of the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

00:48In the program Mike Abby Live, Shira told the story of her brother who was arrested in September 2017.

00:54She was supposed to go to her brother's repair shop in Laguna, but she couldn't make it.

01:00She only saw the body of her brother in Angeles, Pampanga.

01:04His body was covered in blood. His head was covered with packaging tape.

01:09His hands were tied with packaging tape.

01:13His eyes were also tied with packaging tape.

01:17He had three bullets in his head.

01:21Based on the investigation of our family, we think that the person who was under watch is related to him.

01:31That person also has a record with the police.

01:36He was just released from prison.

01:39They say that Efraim looks like collateral damage.

01:43But for me, it's painful to call him collateral damage or who was involved in the drug war.

01:50Shira's hope is seen by the International Criminal Court that is helping them to use justice.

01:56For our families of IJK victims, the ICC investigation is like a light in the dark.

02:06For us, this is a big step and an answer to the long-awaited justice.

02:15And now, former President Duterte is in the ICC.

02:18Shira said that they have been waiting for this for a long time.

02:21Yes. Actually, we have been waiting for a long time for President Duterte to answer

02:28since he was the one who initiated the war on drugs.

02:31So, for us, President Duterte and other officials who are behind the drug war should really be answered.

02:42Before President Marcos sat down, we already communicated with the ICC.

02:48And we have been waiting for this for many years.

02:51Shira called on President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to re-invite the Philippines to the ICC.

02:58The re-invitation of the Philippines to the ICC will help to speed up the investigation.

03:06If so, we will be able to use justice more quickly.

03:10Former President Duterte has a chance to defend himself.

03:16I hope that the eyes of the Filipinos will open.

03:20We are the real victims.
