00:15The victims of the extrajudicial killings of the Duterte administration and human rights lawyers were pleased

00:22with the arrest of the former President Rodrigo Duterte of the International Criminal Court.

00:26For Jane Lina Buda, who was killed in the bloody drug war, she waited for a long time for the arrest of the former President Duterte.

00:33I have been preparing myself for 8 years already because this March 20, 2025 is his 8th death anniversary.

00:44Since his death until now, I have been preparing myself for what I will feel, do and the expectations of all the families of the victims.

00:56It is important for them to be able to pay for the war on drugs than any compensation.

01:02He was jailed and all parts of the war on drugs, all of his bodies, he did everything.

01:10I think that one life is enough to pay for what he ordered and did,

01:15especially if thousands of people died because they think that is the best for the country.

01:24In a poll, Bayan Mona First nominee and former congresswoman, Atty. Neri Colmenares,

01:31said that the assets of the former President could be freezed and the compensation for the victims of the EJK

01:38or it could be taken from the trust fund of the ICC.

01:41There could also be a chance for the EJK victims to present their case when they are invited by the ICC.

01:50But it will not be easy because the travel of the witnesses against the former President Duterte is expensive.

01:56This is just the initial step to accountability.

02:00This is not yet the whole thing because there is still a trial and hopefully, the families of the victims will be given a chance to speak to the ICC

02:10and to present their evidence and help to ensure that the person who ordered the war on drugs is held to account,

02:19their children and thousands of other drug suspects.

02:26Colmenares also added that the former President Duterte asked the ICC to suspend the investigation

02:34to buy time for the government to investigate the bloodbath drug war.

02:39A total of one year was extended to him because in November 2021, it was extended to July of 2023.

02:51Anyone who executes, whether you are a member of the police or other persons who are not a member of the police,

02:57you can be warranted arrest in the ICC.

03:00And if not, you will continue to be jailed whether in the ICC or another country where you can be jailed.

03:10Or it can also be in the Philippines if the Philippines allows it.
