00:18For our business news, the national government has recorded a budget surplus of 68.4 billion
00:31pesos in January 2025.
00:35According to the Bureau of Treasury, due to the sustained revenue and increased expenditures,
00:40the budget surplus was lower than the 88 billion pesos recorded in January last year.
00:46Revenue collections increased by 10.7% to Php 476.1 billion in January from Php 421.8
00:54billion last year.
00:56This is due to higher tax collections, which improved by 13.6% year-on-year.
01:03Tax revenues hit Php 437.5 billion while non-tax collections reached Php 29.6 billion.
01:12Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment has reminded employers to submit their annual
01:16establishment report on wages, or AERW.
01:21All private establishments must submit the 2024 AERW between March 17 and June 30 in
01:28compliance with Article 125 of the Labor Code.
01:32The annual reports should contain a list of employees as of December 31, 2024, including
01:38rank and file employees, learners, apprentices, and workers with disabilities, as well as
01:44employee salaries and wages specified in their contracts.
01:48Employers may access the DALE online compliance portal to register and submit their reports.
01:53In other news, the Philippines' gross gaming revenue, or GGR, grew by 25% in 2024, as revenues
02:01from electronic games surged by 165% during the year.
02:06The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation said the country's GGR increased from Php
02:12329 billion in 2023 to Php 410 billion in 2024.
02:17This is despite President Ferdinand R. Mars Jr.'s ban on the operation of the Philippine
02:22Offshore Gaming Operators.
02:24Pagbar Chairperson and CEO Alejandro Tanco said the attribute, the strong performance
02:30of local gaming industry to the implementation of strategic policy adjustments, such as the
02:35gradual reduction of fee rates for e-games since 2023.
