00:00Good morning, sir. I know that you won't leave us.
00:08She was taught by the original princess of drama, Camille Pratt, one of the most popular child stars in the 90s.
00:15Now, she's a well-known actress and has her own family, what can the former child star say about the course of her career?
00:24Find out here in Kapuso Insider.
00:30Introduction
00:35Camille was known in the 90s as a princess of drama.
00:39From being a grand finalist in a talent search program, Camille proved her worth as a child actress.
00:47After graduating from Kiddie Roles, Camille continued to play mature roles.
00:53Some Kapuso teledramas like Monting Heredera, The Borrowed Wife, Second Chances, and many more are included here.
01:02In continuing Camille's showbiz career, how was her journey as an actress?
01:08I really see it as a blessing to be in this industry for 33 years now.
01:14I started when I was only 7.
01:16And to be honest, one of the things that I'm very grateful for is that the industry has been very, very kind to me.
01:23Like, we've heard different kinds of stories, horror stories, terrible stories of how young children were abused by different people.
01:33May it be, I don't know, sexual abuse or abuse just because, you know, they're young or they feel like they're new in the industry.
01:44They don't have a voice and they can't really speak up for their rights.
01:48And hearing all those things really broke my heart and at the same time made me feel really grateful.
01:54Because as a child, I would say that I've never experienced that.
01:59I don't remember a time where I felt that people were abusing me and my capabilities or even just by being a child.
02:10You know, you feel like you don't have the right to speak up or to assert yourself.
02:15And that's one of the biggest things that I'm grateful for.
02:21That I've stayed in this industry for so long.
02:24No matter how crazy it is, we know for a fact that this industry isn't really the kindest industry for a lot of people.
02:32It is actually, you know, like a dog-eat-dog world.
02:35You can never really say that once you've made it, you're there forever.
02:40It's something that you have to continually earn each and every project that's given to you.
02:45I'm just really grateful to still be here, to still be able to do what I've always loved to do.
02:50And to still be loved by not only by my network, but even those who are watching.
02:56The people who really support you whenever you have a new program, they're waiting for you.
03:02And that for me is the biggest blessing of all.
03:06To still be able to do this is something that I really, really treasure.
03:10And something that I'm really, really grateful for.
03:13According to Camille, her mom, Alma, was a big factor in her joining Showbiz.
03:18In fact, her mom was the one who trained and joined her in the casting calls.
03:23I started telling my mom about my desire to be in this industry at the age of four.
03:30And you know, looking back, I thought, it's a good thing that she believed in me.
03:36I mean, imagine at four, saying that I want to do this.
03:40And my mom believed in me to a point that she trained me.
03:45She made sure that she equipped me in the things that I wanted to do.
03:50She supported me.
03:52She would bring me to different VTRs.
03:54As in, we were really busy with casting calls and all those things.
03:57Because I really wanted it.
03:59Looking back, that's one of the things that I'm very, very grateful for.
04:04Because she believed in me.
04:06And what if she didn't?
04:07What if she just said,
04:09Stop me! Don't mess with me!
04:11What's that? Your dream is impossible.
04:13It's a one-off. It won't happen.
04:16And that was the end of it.
04:17But that changed my life.
04:19It's because of my mom that I'm here now.
04:23In 2008, she got married to Anthony Linsanga, her first husband.
04:28In a civil wedding ceremony in Los Angeles, California.
04:32They got married in 2010 in a church in Makati.
04:35Before Anthony passed away due to cancer in 2011.
04:39In 2017, Camille got married to the former grade school classmate and businessman, John Vijay Yambao.
04:46Aside from Nathan, her son, to her ex-husband, Camille also had children, Anthony, Nolan, and Nala.
04:54They are also co-parents to Vijay's son, Ice.
04:57How is Camille as a mother?
05:00I am a very chill mom.
05:02I believe I'm very affectionate as well.
05:05I'm very gentle. I'm very clingy to my children.
05:08I'm very vocal about how much I love them.
05:12The same with my boys.
05:14I try to be very gentle. I barely get upset.
05:18I try to be rational also.
05:20Whenever I instill discipline, I try to be mutual with emotions.
05:26Being a parent for me is something that's also changing me for the better.
05:34You know, I learned a lot growing up from my parents.
05:37And I also learned a lot of things that I don't want to do to my children.
05:41Will Camille agree if her children are interested in showbiz?
05:47At this point, not yet.
05:49She hasn't said it yet.
05:51But if she really wants, I would let her.
05:55If that's also the same fate of my children,
05:58and this is what they really want,
06:00I think I have a very, very good model to look up to,
06:05which is my mom and how she really handled all these things as I was growing up.
06:10Making sure that it kept me grounded even up to this point of my career.
06:17What advice would Camille give if they also want to do showbiz?
06:24For me, I believe that being in this industry is a gift.
06:30If there's one thing that I can advise them is that
06:35do not ever get confused between who you are and what you do.
06:40And I think that has always been very clear with me.
06:45For me, being an artist is a privilege.
06:49It's a job. It's what I do.
06:52But it does not define who I am.
06:55I am a daughter. I am a sister.
07:00Growing up, now I would say I am a wife and I am a mom.
07:05Being an artist is my job.
07:08But it's not my personality.
07:11And I've witnessed also a lot of people go into or fall into that mistake
07:19na hindi na nila nahihiwala yung pagkatao nila sa pagiging artista.
07:25And that's very dangerous because when you're an actress,
07:30syempre iba-iba yung levels ng fame.
07:33Alam mo yun, you do one good project and all of a sudden you're at the peak of your career.
07:39But you know what? You won't stay there for long.
07:42And if you tie or attach yourself to what you do,
07:46pag hindi ka na ganoon kasikat, it's actually very, very painful.
07:51So parang for me, that's my advice na this is a privilege.
07:56This is your job. It's what you do for a living.
07:59The same thing na yung utility trabaho niya yan, yung director trabaho niya yan.
08:04Lahat tayo dito, nagtatrabaho lang.
08:07Being an actor or an actress doesn't make you feel entitled to have fame.
08:13Kasi, trabaho lang siya.
08:16So yun siguro yung for me, an advice that I would give someone who would want to be a part of this industry.
08:39If you are going to ask me if we have any similarities, none at all.
08:45I don't see me in Olive and I hope I never see myself in Olive.
08:51Aba nga ng kakaibang role ni Camille Prats sa GMA Afternoon Crime Series na Mommy Dearest.
