I always had the dream of turning this #mclaren #650s into something a little bit more individual and special but I never expected what the price of the parts would be. So now we have to look for alternative solutions to get round that problem.

00:00I'm going to let you into a secret. Even if I could afford to buy my dream McLaren,
00:04McLaren themselves wouldn't even sell it to me. And here's why.
00:07When these supercar manufacturers make their limited edition cars,
00:10not only do you have to be able to afford the car that you want,
00:13you've also got to have purchase history with that brand
00:16for them to even allow it to be sold to you.
00:18Now, I have no purchase history and I can't even afford the car I want.
00:21But I think I've got a way to get around both of those problems.
00:25And that is because McLaren use a lot of parts from their base model cars
00:28on their limited production cars and even their hypercars.
00:32Meaning that if you went and spent £2 million on a McLaren P1,
00:36it's going to share parts with an £80,000 650s.
00:40Scammed.
00:40So I put my thinking cap on and I think if we start with one of McLaren's cheapest cars,
00:45we could potentially turn it into something much more expensive
00:48and much rarer and something that I'd never be able to afford.
00:51Does that sound like a plan?
00:52So I need a car to start off this project. Luckily, three months ago, I bought this.
00:57A McLaren 650s Spyder, but it's not in a good way.
01:00It's been crashed four times, rolled on its roof and been used as a track experience car.
01:05Now, all the panels are damaged, but this is the perfect excuse to try and upgrade them.
01:09Our challenge is to try and build one of the rarest McLarens that money can buy, but on a budget.
01:14In order to do that, we're going to need some parts.
01:16So we're going into our local McLaren dealership to see how much all this is going to cost.
01:23I feel a bit out of my depth here, I can't lie.
01:26Yeah, there's some pretty nice cars.
01:27Yeah, I feel really, really, really poor.
01:29But this didn't go to plan.
01:31Well, our local dealer didn't really want to talk to us about it face to face,
01:35so we're going to have to try and find a way around this, so bear with us.
01:38In order to get a price on these parts, we had to be a little bit crafty.
01:42Then it was just a waiting game to hear back
01:43from McLaren on a price to transform our 650s.
01:49And if you close your eyes, it's now another day,
01:52because we have now finally got the parts list from McLaren,
01:56and the prices to go with them to convert the 650s into that much rarer car.
02:01And we have our parts dealer, Mickey's McLaren's Bits.
02:06Welcome to Mickey's McLaren's Workshop.
02:09Mickey's McLaren Workshop.
02:11So Mickey's going to give us the prices of everything for how much this is going to cost.
02:15Mickey?
02:17I'm nervous.
02:18You are sitting down good.
02:20On this list, we should have a bonnet,
02:22pair of wings, bumper complete, rear bumper complete,
02:25rear quarters complete, arch liner, spoiler, engine cover, wing mirrors, headlights.
02:32So where are we starting today, Mickey?
02:34Rear bumper.
02:35Okay, so the centre of the rear bumper.
02:37Just the centre of the rear bumper.
02:38Okay, I'm going to guess 10 grand.
02:41No.
02:42More.
02:42You're not even close.
02:4420,422.
02:48Plus the 80.
02:49You've got to put that on there.
02:51So that is 25 grand.
02:55And that's without all the auxiliaries with it.
02:57Yeah, all the trims, yeah.
02:58The little side panels.
02:59Okay.
03:00Sensors, cameras.
03:01Yeah, cameras.
03:05Price for the rear diffuser and the tray.
03:07The small part on the back of the car.
03:09Okay, so not the actual bumper diffuser, the bit that goes underneath that.
03:14I'm going to say 800 quid.
03:15You're looking at £4,998 without that.
03:22Just for the under tray.
03:24Just for the under tray.
03:25How much do you think the little end cap is?
03:28They're only like this big.
03:29Tiny little bits.
03:30Yeah, that big.
03:31Okay.
03:32£2,530.50 plus the back, each franc.
03:37Yeah, ours was broken anyway, so I do need one.
03:39Little plastic box, £1,000.
03:43No.
03:44£6,489.
03:48That's plus the back on that.
03:51Exhaust.
03:52This is quite small, about this big again.
03:54Comes off the caps, goes out the back.
03:56Yeah.
03:56Two and a half grand.
03:57No, halfway near there.
03:59It says five grand.
04:00£5,754 plus the back.
04:04Has that got the tips on it?
04:06No.
04:06No.
04:10Tips, £200 a pop.
04:11Triple that.
04:13£618.
04:15No.
04:15You need two of them.
04:16Oh, no.
04:17Per tip.
04:18Without that.
04:19Sure, we can just, can we use some universal ones?
04:22Front bumper skin.
04:23I'm going to guess, realistic number from McLaren, £2,000.
04:28£7,665.
04:32Surely not.
04:33Plus the V8.
04:35About the foam that goes behind it.
04:36The foam?
04:37I didn't even know there was foam.
04:38Yep, there is.
04:39Okay.
04:39It's a silly price for a bit of foam.
04:41£300.
04:42£892.
04:44But the numbers just kept on going.
04:46£3,246.
04:49£1,375.
04:51And the worst part is we're still waiting on a price for some of the other bits too,
04:54so this isn't even everything.
04:56£3,213 times two.
04:59£2,572.
05:02£3,948 times two.
05:06Really?
05:07Is it that much?
05:08£6,216.
05:11Wow.
05:11£2,467 times two.
05:15£2,698.
05:19£148,000.
05:22I just dribbled then.
05:24£407 and 82 pence.
05:27Plus the bits that aren't on there.
05:29That's a two-bedroom house.
05:31That ain't going to work.
05:33That ain't going to work.
05:34Right, we need to try and find an alternative way to make this happen because that is stupid.
05:40Wow.
05:41The total build price is going to be like ridiculous, bro.
05:44So it seems like we're going to find a different way to make this project work because buying
05:47them parts new from McLaren is going to cost more than a second-hand 675LT.
05:51It's ridiculous.
05:52So we need to try and find a cheaper kit and for that, let's take to Google.
05:56Let's take to Google.
05:58And just one little look on Google does bring up some interesting stuff.
06:02There is a second-hand bumper for a 675LT but it's still £8,500.
06:09Pricey.
06:10And I don't think that's going to add up because there's still so many other bits that we need.
06:13There is an aftermarket body kit for about £8,000 which is a lot cheaper
06:17but it's not really what I'm aiming for.
06:20This is interesting.
06:21Pricey but interesting.
06:23£93,202 for McLaren quality genuine dry carbon fibre carbon kit,
06:31front bumper assembly, side skirts, rear bumper assembly, tail wing assembly.
06:35That sounds great but it is £100,000.
06:39That looks like a P1 aftermarket kit to turn one into a GTR.
06:42Hence why it's so expensive.
06:44I did look into this already and turning a 650S into a P1,
06:48if you do manage to do anything that looks even close, it's still going to look wrong.
06:51The proportions are going to be off and it's going to look like it's from Timo.
06:55Now long-term subscribers to this channel will know that we've done something similar
06:58to this before with my AMG GT and we bought a fibreglass and carbon kit,
07:03so a bit of both kit from Aliexpress and the fit was okay but it wasn't amazing.
07:09Now on Aliexpress there is a upgrade kit which is part carbon, part fibreglass.
07:15I just don't know if that's going to be quite what I want.
07:18This is a supercar.
07:19It's got to fit like a McLaren.
07:21Maybe it's not such a big deal but I'd like it to be as light,
07:24as strong and as good quality as possible and I feel like having a part fibreglass,
07:28part carbon fibre kit is not doing this car justice.
07:31So this is not going to be the option.
07:34So we've got one option which is the genuine kit which is ridiculous.
07:37We've got the option which isn't going to fit and is £100,000
07:41and then we've got the cheap option but I kind of like something which falls in the middle of all these.
07:45Because we're wanting to save money, does it not make sense to go to the home of cheap things?
07:49Timo.
07:51So on here you can buy all sorts of stuff.
07:53You can buy car parts, teeth whitening kits, dash cams, pretty much anything you want.
07:57The only problem is you don't 100% know what you're going to get
08:00and you're hoping whenever you spend your money on it that it's going to be good
08:03but the fact of the matter is you never know.
08:04I'm sure some of these parts are okay.
08:06A lot of them don't look all that but what I have found which is kind of interesting is
08:12a full dry carbon McLaren 675LT sort of body kit.
08:18Every single piece of that is made from carbon.
08:21Hopefully it should be lighter, it should be stronger.
08:23Fingers crossed the fit is better.
08:26It is £31,000 including the VAT.
08:28A lot of money but we are a VAT registered business so I can claim the VAT back
08:32making it cost around £25,000.
08:34At the end of the day this is a supercar that we're working on
08:36and we want it to be the best quality possible.
08:38Maybe this is going to be our best idea.
08:40The kit includes carbon fibre bumper with an exposed carbon lip.
08:44Both of the wings with exposed carbon vents which was an option on the 675LT
08:49There's primed dry carbon side skirts with exposed carbon parts.
08:52Dry carbon rear fenders.
08:54Dry carbon air inlets.
08:55Dry carbon rear bumper.
08:57Carbon fibre engine cover.
08:58Stainless steel exhaust.
08:59Dry carbon front.
09:00Dry carbon front and rear under tray.
09:02A exposed carbon bonnet.
09:04There is some videos of it on here and it looks...
09:07Well, do you know what?
09:09Not too bad.
09:12If we can get the car looking like that I would be pretty happy.
09:14How much work does it take to get that car to that point?
09:17That's the real question, isn't it?
09:21But that's not going to be it.
09:22I don't want to do a like-for-like 675LT replica.
09:26I want to make it my version of one.
09:27I'll make it that bit better.
09:28I've done a bit more digging and found a rarer version of the 675LT called the 688HS
09:35which looks something like this.
09:38Now mine's a spider so it will never be able to have the roof scoop
09:41as much as I'd love to be able to have one.
09:42But essentially the difference is on this.
09:44It's got a fixed rear spoiler and some nasty canards on the front
09:47which make it look proper evil.
09:48It's just a bit more of an extreme version of a 675LT.
09:51A bit more track focused and a little bit more what I like the look of.
09:55Now these cost like £500,000-ish, I believe if I'm right.
09:58So super, super limited.
10:00So we're going to take elements from that, elements from the 675LT
10:04and maybe even elements from the P1 as well to try and put all this together.
10:08So the first thing that I'm going to need to be able to do any of that,
10:10we need the base body kit.
10:12So I think this Teemu kit is going to be the one to go for.
10:16What do you think?
10:17Yeah, it looks awesome.
10:18Thanks, man.
10:19It's even orange.
10:20I know, yeah, it does give us a really good idea of how it looks.
10:23We're gonna have to take the plunge, take the gamble and order this kit
10:27and hopefully it's not a waste of money.
10:30So here we go, add to cart.
10:34Surely that's the most money anyone's ever spent on Teemu.
10:37Ordered, I presume all of these are made to order
10:41because they wouldn't just have them lying around.
10:42Now it's just a waiting game.
10:44I'm just hoping it pays off.
10:45If you're here for the gamble, if you want to support us,
10:47make sure to go down there, hit that subscribe button
10:49and wish us the best of luck.
10:51Obviously, our goal with the McLaren is more than just fitting this body kit.
10:54We need to make this one of the fastest McLarens on the road to match the look of it.
10:58But when we do get the engine back in it,
10:59there's going to be a lot of faults to go through
11:01because this car wasn't in a good way.
11:03But when we do get around to doing that,
11:04we can figure out what some of those faults are with the help from OBD11.
11:08So OBD11 can do basic diagnostics for any car,
11:10but works best with BMW Mini,
11:13VAG Group cars, Toyota, Lexus and even Rolls-Royce.
11:16Now for those cars, OBD11 offers full dealership level diagnostics,
11:20so it can help you find the problems with your car.
11:22And when we scan my X3M, we can see it's got seven faults.
11:26But OBD11 can do so much more than that
11:28because obviously that's going to help you pinpoint the faults,
11:30but it can also turn on cool applications and features on your car too.
11:33For example, we can use video in motion,
11:35so your passenger can watch videos whilst you're driving.
11:38So let's turn that on.
11:40Meaning now that we can watch some of the finest videos.
11:42If you want to check out OBD11,
11:44make sure to use the link in the description and discount code SLICKS20,
11:47which is going to save you 20% off all of their packages
11:50apart from the device on its own.
11:51Thank you OBD11 for sponsoring this video.
11:53I think the body kit has just arrived.
11:55It's now eight weeks later from when we pressed go on the body kit
11:58and it is finally here.
11:59Now it was delivered to the unit whilst we were away on the road trip.
12:02So now it's time to take a look at the kit
12:04and see if spending that £25,000 on it has gone down the drain
12:09or is well worth it.
12:10You ready?
12:11I hope so.
12:13I'm a little bit nervous.
12:14I can't lie.
12:15I've never been this nervous about it.
12:16I don't know how big the box is going to be.
12:25It's quite big.
12:27Oh, it's massive.
12:29Oh my gosh.
12:30Okay, right, let me move this
12:33and then we're going to try and have a good look at it
12:35because that looks packaged really well.
12:38Yeah, it looks better than the Mercedes one.
12:39It does, yeah.
12:40It looks like they really took some care in it.
12:42Right, I can't describe how excited I've been for this moment.
12:45The whole trip away, all I could think about was this.
12:48So where do we start?
12:50Do we start with the big one?
12:51I mean, it'd be rude to not start.
12:52I think that's the right decision.
12:54We've got a box here which we can wait for that one
12:57because that's not as exciting.
12:59You know what though?
13:00The box took a battering, didn't it?
13:01I suppose it has come a long way.
13:02You got this.
13:04Do you reckon how?
13:05It's supposed to be carbon fibre, so it should be light.
13:22This is a much better way.
13:29Imagine if it's just like potatoes in there.
13:38I literally was just about to say that.
13:40Imagine if it's just like empty paper.
13:49First try.
13:50That was, yeah, great.
13:51Ah, crab's on fire.
14:06That looks like a well-made piece.
14:09Any imperfections?
14:11Just me.
14:13It looks really good.
14:14Yeah, it does.
14:16Okay, up the top here maybe.
14:19There's a bit of nastiness, but on the whole, it's looking good.
14:25Now, the difference with this kit compared to the AMG one
14:29is that the AMG one is part fibreglass, part carbon,
14:33where with this, I wanted it to be as strong and as light as possible,
14:37just like the real special edition cars are.
14:41So I've opted for the full carbon fibre kit,
14:44meaning it's going to be harder, better, faster, stronger.
14:47I want to see it.
14:50I'll show that on YouTube.
14:53It's too sexy.
14:55That is very, very nice.
15:02Can you see that as well?
15:02So like the inner skin is carbon and then that's the outer skin there, even more carbon.
15:09What are you feeling, Chris?
15:11Excited.
15:14Very, very excited.
15:16Next bit.
15:18What do you reckon it is?
15:22Spoiler.
15:22Do you reckon spoiler?
15:23Oh, splitter.
15:24I don't know, it looks...
15:26Maybe I've been hard into the AMG one.
15:27Oh, no, there's the groove bits here.
15:29I think it's the rear spoiler.
15:30Okay, okay.
15:32I can't actually see, apart from a few little fish eyes, any imperfections in that at all.
15:37Let me get a close-up.
15:40It could benefit from a little flow coat,
15:43so a wet sand and another coat of lacquer when we get the car painted.
15:48Or do I do it body coloured?
15:51Oh, it's a dilemma.
15:53But it would look cool in carbon because it moves as well, wouldn't it?
16:01Oh, I know what it is already.
16:09I've never picked up a bumper like that in my life.
16:13It looks really cool as well.
16:15I can't see it.
16:16Okay.
16:18Oh, it's even got the towing eye.
16:19Do you reckon that comes out or not?
16:21It has got a towing eye cover.
16:23Have you seen how it's held in?
16:29Tiger seal.
16:31Nice.
16:32So basically, if I ever need towing anywhere, I'm screwed.
16:36I don't know what you mean, a McLaren would never break down.
16:39This one is screwed pretty solid, but this one...
16:44Oh, it's broken.
16:46Tab there that's supposed to be on here, it's snapped off.
16:50I'm all sad now.
16:53Oh well, I'm sure we can figure out that.
16:54That's not the end of the world.
16:56But looks good.
16:57On the whole, very happy.
16:59Rate it, everyone at home in the comments, rate it out of 10.
17:06Any ideas yet?
17:07No clue.
17:11That, my friend.
17:12Oh, I know what it is.
17:13Yeah, that's sick.
17:15Side pod alert, it is scratched.
17:18Oh yeah, I completely forgot about.
17:21Well, I'm not going to tell you now, but you'll figure it out in a minute.
17:25Oh, that looks cool.
17:26Do you reckon these bits are going to get all burnt up?
17:30You know, I'm spitting mad flames out the back.
17:32Isn't carbon fibre like super resistant to heat?
17:36We'll find out, I guess, won't we?
17:37From the back, the 650S looks like this.
17:42Not the best looking thing in the world,
17:44but even though the 675 is based on the same car,
17:46they basically gave the whole rear end a facelift and made it look like this.
17:52Which looks much better.
17:54It gets rid of the nasty square exhaust tips.
17:59So basically that goes in the bin.
18:02Because it doesn't look cool, does it?
18:04But we continued unpackaging this massive box of parts.
18:07It's basically a jigsaw.
18:08We've got to figure out where every single bit goes and it's not easy.
18:12Now, our aim isn't to build a full 675LT replica.
18:15We want to turn it into my version of it
18:17and add bits along the way that are going to make it that little bit more special.
18:24People, what do we reckon?
18:25I don't think it looks bad, does it?
18:27Looks neat-ish.
18:29Welding experts, I know there's loads here.
18:32Good or bad, what do you think?
18:39Oh yeah, look, a Chinese spider.
18:42Do you reckon he's come all the way?
18:51Now, because obviously we're building this car exactly how I want it,
18:57because we've not got the constraints of what's possible and what's not possible,
19:01set by the manufacturer and the dealers,
19:05I think we can do something more special with this.
19:07Is there any other car that comes with a star bonnet?
19:10What does the Senna come with?
19:11Not like this.
19:13Then no.
19:14That looks so sick.
19:16Go on, take it away.
19:20Oh, look at the snoots on it.
19:23That is a P1.
19:25Is it a P1 bonnet or a P1 style bonnet?
19:28I'm not 100% sure, but either way, that is going to look sick.
19:32We don't really know the exact differences in the parts that we haven't got,
19:36but I think there's someone that we know which is going to be able to help,
19:39because I'm sure there's more technical differences between the 675 and the 650S
19:45that I don't know about.
19:47There are a lot of differences between this car and a 650S.
19:51Body-wise, I'll go over it real quick.
19:54The front is more aggressive,
19:57and if you were to buy this brand new, just this bumper alone,
20:01not any of the other stuff I said,
20:02this is $14,000, so about £12,000 or something like that.
20:07So Freddy spent the next half hour running me through every difference
20:10between the 675 and the 650S,
20:12and everything which he's struggled with on his rebuild,
20:14which is pretty safe to say,
20:16even though I'm not 100% sure,
20:17because I don't know the exact differences between the 675 and the 650S.
20:21Which is pretty safe to say did not fill me with confidence.
20:26I didn't realize how much of a challenge this was going to be.
20:28There is some differences, but can you make it 90% of the car for 50% of the money?
20:35Most people will not notice if you build a 650S
20:38and you do slight modifications, you won't be able to notice.
20:41The only thing, the biggest difference, I think, is just that transmission tune,
20:46because that's something that you likely won't be able to do.
20:49I mean, it's not like it doesn't shift quickly when you're full throttle,
20:53but this just shifts, it's just different, it's just immediate.
20:56So if you're willing to live with that, then yeah, it'll be great.
21:02If there's anyone out there who can make a 650S transmission
21:06drive exactly the same as 675, let me know.
21:09Well, thank you for your time.
21:11Thanks for your guidance.
21:13If I get stuck, I'm sure I'll give you a call,
21:15just nip over, pop a few bolts in, send me on my way.
21:19Do you have the factory service manual for the 650?
21:22No.
21:23I'll send it to you.
21:24You know, what the torque thing is to and whatever and where things go.
21:26That'd be good, wouldn't it?
21:27I could actually use my torque wrench once.
21:29Yeah, you should probably do that on a car that goes really, really, really slow.
21:33Yeah, probably a good idea.
21:35But now I'm armed with all the knowledge I need and all the parts,
21:37it's time to assemble the team and get to work.
21:40That bumper is amazing.
21:43A lot of parts, isn't it?
21:44It is, yeah, it is.
21:45It's kind of a worrying amount, to be honest.
21:47So light.
21:48It's like it's going to float away, isn't it?
21:50Oldie Mickey.
21:54Got it?
21:57So instead of all being fiberglass, it's all going to be carbon fiber.
22:00Exactly, every single part is carbon now.
22:02It's a big rear end.
22:04That's how we like them.
22:05Mate, that weave on that's welcome.
22:07Do you reckon it's worth the full 25?
22:08The issue is, as I agree with it, on the quality of the parts,
22:13the fitment of them could be a difference.
22:16You know what I'm saying?
22:17I think you're right.
22:18I think you're right.
22:20So I'm going to say a good 50% solid purchase up to now.
22:25What do you think?
22:25I think we should see how it fits and then we'll know.
22:28Well, I think we start at the point where things haven't moved.
22:31So I'm pretty sure the doors haven't moved.
22:33So if we start at the front end, the wings.
22:35So the wings.
22:36Let's do the wings, yeah.
22:37But before we can fit those, we have some damaged bracketry
22:41because if you come around the front of the car,
22:42these bits got damaged in the crash.
22:44Now, the car has been crashed before
22:46and we can see that by this bracket here.
22:48This one has got like filler in it.
22:51It's been sanded back.
22:52It's all a bit bent up.
22:54And to give this kit the best chance of fitting,
22:56we need to make sure those brackets are right.
22:58I've gone to McLaren and I've had to buy these bits from there
23:00because I just can't get them from anywhere else.
23:05McLaren prices, as we've already seen, are astronomical.
23:09These are literally just little brackets, little bits and bobs
23:14just for mounting the panels.
23:16Stuff like that.
23:18Another one of them.
23:20And you can't send them back either once you've paid for them.
23:23Even though they're in stock, you can't send them back.
23:26Wallet hinges.
23:27Basically, that's about your lot.
23:29Two and a half grand just for that, which hurt my feelings.
23:35And my soul.
23:38And my hairline.
23:41So let's get all these bits out, see where they're going to go.
23:44Get them on.
23:46And then we can look at how we're going to mount these panels
23:47because we need to make sure it's going to go on straight.
23:58That's 500 quid.
23:59You reckon?
24:00Not the part.
24:00Just the logo.
24:01Just the logo.
24:02Yeah.
24:02Look how detailed that is.
24:05Look, it's so detailed.
24:07This one looks like it's from Teemo.
24:09Look at the difference.
24:10Look how mashed up it is.
24:11Yeah.
24:12It's not the real.
24:13It's like bone and everything.
24:14So now we've got the ridiculously overpriced brackets fitted to the car.
24:18We can start trying to see how this body kit is actually going to fit.
24:22I wish we could demonstrate how light these are.
24:24It's fine by nothing.
24:25This literally feels like you're holding air.
24:28Moment of truth, isn't it?
24:29Well.
24:29Let's see if this is going to be a nightmare or a breeze.
24:32Yeah, let's give it a whirl.
24:33Should we put a bit on it?
24:35I think it's going to fit pretty good.
24:37Okay.
24:37But I'm being optimistic.
24:39I think you are.
24:41I really think you are.
24:41I hope you're fine.
24:43Bear in mind, we've only just mopped this up quickly.
24:45We haven't tightened anything up in place.
24:48Oh, look at all the bolt holes lining up pretty good, mate.
24:51Oh, this is exciting.
24:55It'd be more exciting if I could get this bolt in.
25:00Do you know what the most challenging part of this is going to be like?
25:03Because McLaren panel gaps are notoriously brilliant.
25:08How do we know that that is to McLaren spec?
25:12Or are we trying to get it better?
25:14Because if we get it better and it's starting to cause fitment problems
25:16and like doors catching stuff, or do we just go,
25:19right, that is a consistent gap, therefore that is good.
25:22I don't know.
25:22What do you think?
25:23Do you think that looks a bit big?
25:24Personally, I would say that's a big gap, but...
25:26But hang on, what does it do when it's going down though?
25:28This is what I mean.
25:29Go on.
25:32Oh yeah, she looks quite close on cam.
25:34Yeah, so it's like, it's not bad that way,
25:36but this is a tiny bit higher than that.
25:38And really, you want it the other way around to kind of eliminate wind noise a tad.
25:43But it's definitely not bad.
25:45It's not bad.
25:51Can we go down slowly as well?
25:52Getting a little bit off of there from when we were doing repairs.
25:55Can we come down very, very slowly?
26:03That is so close.
26:05Now we've got the first wing on,
26:07Mickey is going to start fitting up the new bonnet hinge,
26:09and I'm going to fit all the brackets for the passenger side.
26:13So, I have wing.
26:18These carbon brackets on these wings look really good quality to be fair.
26:22I've not really seen them inlaid with brackets like that before.
26:26You know what it looks like?
26:27More problems.
26:30Most of the break.
26:31And with all the brackets fitted to that side too,
26:33we could start mocking up this wing,
26:35but already there was a problem.
26:37That's not looking good, Webb.
26:39I thought the Grand Canyon was in America.
26:43Oh, my God.
26:45Nice.
26:46Is that any good for you?
26:46There you go.
26:47What is going on with that?
26:52Very bad.
26:53Is this door open?
26:54Yeah, I was thinking that.
26:57Whoa.
27:00Go down.
27:03That sold nothing.
27:04So, it turns out the kit wasn't perfect,
27:06but for now, we're going to fasten it up and come back to that problem later.
27:10This side fits good.
27:11I'm happy with that.
27:12This side, not so good.
27:14Sometimes, maybe good.
27:16Sometimes, maybe...
27:17So, those are both on and roughly where they're supposed to be.
27:19There's only one thing that's going to tell us, actually,
27:21whether those actually fit well or not,
27:23and that is the bonnet,
27:24because without that, we could have gaps like this either side.
27:27It's technically the frunk.
27:29Well, no, it's not the frunk,
27:30but that's the bit that goes above the frunk.
27:33Yeah, the frunk.
27:34The front bonnet.
27:35Front boot.
27:37The frunk.
27:38You've not heard that before?
27:39No.
27:39Oh, yeah.
27:40The frunk.
27:41Big up the frunk.
27:42That's going to be a Tesla owner.
27:43It's not a trunk because it's in the back.
27:45The trunk's in the back.
27:46I know, aren't I?
27:47Is it giving you the ick?
27:48Yeah.
27:48Giving you the heebie-jeebies.
27:50Are you ready?
27:50Do you want me to hold it or do you want to hold it?
27:55Oh, it's so heavy, Chris.
27:59There's two.
28:03Wow.
28:03Vicky, don't drop the bolt.
28:05You might lose it.
28:06How's that working, Heath?
28:08Head is using it as an axis.
28:12Can you hold that still?
28:14Honestly, it's like this.
28:23Okay.
28:26Slowly.
28:28I'm actually, like, genuinely a little bit nervous about this
28:31because it's so far off and we have a big problem-o.
28:33Now, close your eyes as the bonnet goes down and open them as you go.
28:37So what am I doing?
28:38Close your eyes.
28:39I'm just going to put it down.
28:39Bring it down.
28:41Steady, steady, steady, steady, steady.
28:45No.
28:46So it's going to sit about there.
28:49That side, the wing fits good, but the bonnet fits bad.
28:52That side, the wing fits bad and the bonnet fits good.
28:55So where is right?
28:58Wrong.
29:00I like these.
29:03I'll tell you what, though.
29:04Squint really, really hard and it looks bad boy.
29:08It looks good, doesn't it?
29:09So we kept playing around with the panel gaps to try and get them as best as we could.
29:26And after an hour or so, we started to make some really, really good progress.
29:30Do you know what I can confidently say about this?
29:32That's about as good as the AMG.
29:35I'd say that's better than the AMG and that's on first fit.
29:39And we're all feeling pretty happy about it.
29:44Just having those two wings and bonnet lined up with each other
29:47is a great step in the right direction with this kit.
30:09Shall we try the tubing?
30:15Yes.
30:16Okay.
30:21What the?
30:25That's better, isn't it?
30:28That's it.
30:30It's nice.
30:33There's a bit of leaking maybe, but that looks proper.
30:37This is a bit broken here, but yeah.
30:39Yeah.
30:40I would want to stand in it, but...
30:41No, I wouldn't.
30:43I might.
30:44I don't think you'd fit it.
30:47Wow.
30:48Three, two, one.
30:48Yay!
30:51Great, great work everyone at home.
30:52Proud of you.
30:53Yeah.
30:54You've done so much.
30:55Now, you know what you need to do?
30:57Subscribe if you ain't already subscribing.
30:58Otherwise, I'll have you.
31:01Yeah, I'm happy with that.
31:02That looks good.
31:03No one's standing there and looking at you.
31:07I understand how this car is put together
31:09because it's been put together by English people
31:11and I feel like we all think the same.
31:12It's like, if it works, it works.
31:15This is the moment right now.
31:17Cue the epic music.
31:31How are we looking there?
31:35Not really.
31:36Not really.
31:37More really.
31:40Oh boy, it's all right.
31:43Mine's not all right yet, but it could be.
31:47Oh!
31:53I don't know what I think at this moment in time,
31:55but that looks so much better than it did.
32:00Yeah.
32:00Funnily enough, it does.
32:01Yeah.
32:06If there was a rubber that went in there,
32:07I think you'd get away with that.
32:08I don't know if he is.
32:09Yeah, I kind of feel like there is as well.
32:11Like a little indentation bit.
32:13Does it?
32:14Yeah, I think we need to take a second to stand back
32:16and appreciate it.
32:17Stand back and appreciate that.
32:20It does.
32:21Now, how does it look?
32:25Just imagine the winds blowing through your hair.
32:28What hair?
32:29Bro, that looks good.
32:30Don't the winds really look good on it?
32:32It looks mint, to be fair.
32:33Doesn't it?
32:33Yeah.
32:34Oh, this feels wild.
32:35These don't feel real.
32:36You know, weirdly with that front bonnet,
32:38with the word front bonnet,
32:39with the bonnet, it does look a bit like a P1.
32:44Is it like if you squint really hard?
32:45Yeah, but you were like partly blind as well.
32:49Yeah.
32:49Let's get those fake lenses in.
32:51We haven't got proper headlights
32:52because when the track experience company had it,
32:54they crashed it and then replaced the headlights
32:57just with lenses because cheapskates.
32:59And that's all we got for the car.
33:02So we'll just see how they look for now
33:04and then I'm going to have to find some 675 or 650s headlights.
33:09How's that look on cam?
33:11Yeah, it's a bit dusty, but yeah, it looks sick.
33:13Shall I give it a bit of a detail it?
33:15Yeah.
33:17How's that?
33:19I mean, not much better, but it looks cool.
33:29So
33:50well, there we have it.
33:51Front end is on and I am loving it so far,
33:54but we've got a lot more to do with this kit
33:55and a lot more to do with this car to get it back on the road.
33:58But if you want to see that, make sure to subscribe down below.
34:01Make sure to like this video and I'll catch you next time.
