00:00Hello, good morning. Here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Britannia.
00:04High pressures bring in plenty of fine and settle weather to start this new working week.
00:07Certainly to start the day across the north-west of Scotland, there's plenty of sunshine. Quite
00:10a frosty start here though. Elsewhere, the frost is more patchy, there's more in the
00:14way of cloud around and the cloud's thick enough down towards the south-west to give
00:17one or two showers. We do hold on to a fair bit of cloud across many southern and western
00:20spots as we go through the day and into the afternoon. It'll be in the east and south-east
00:24of England, generally seeing the best of the sunshine. That's because drier air will start
00:28to move in from the south-east from the near continent, so parts of eastern and south-east
00:32England certainly will see pretty much wall-to-wall sunshine by the end of the afternoon. Despite
00:36any sunshine though, temperatures are still struggling for the time of year. With that
00:39south-easterly breeze in place, temperatures towards the north of the UK are no better
00:42than 7 or 8 Celsius. Down towards the south, perhaps locally peaking at 10 or 11 degrees,
00:4710 is 50 in Fahrenheit. As we go into the evening and through the overnight period,
00:51the cloud will tend to push away north-westwards, so we see much clearer skies moving in across
00:55all parts of the UK, as that drier air from the near continent makes its presence felt
00:59across all parts. We'll also pay the price for those clearer skies. Notice those temperatures,
01:04the blue colours there indicating a widespread frost forming by Tuesday morning. Certainly
01:07across rural parts of Scotland, we could dip down to minus 7 or even minus 8 Celsius in
01:11one or two spots, with values down towards the south, just about holding above freezing
01:15in some of the towns and cities. As for Tuesday itself, well after that very cold frosty start,
01:20frost only slowly lifting as we go through the morning, but leaving plenty of sunshine
01:24across the bulk of the UK. A bit of patchy cloud up towards the Far North East, could
01:27give one or two showers there across Shetland, but on the whole it will be a pretty sunny
01:31day, but once again quite cold for the time of year. Temperatures no better than 10 or
01:3511 Celsius, 11 in the south there is 52 in Fahrenheit. As for the rest of the week, well
01:40we hold on to a good deal of sunshine through the middle to second part of the week, and
01:43those temperatures starting to climb quite nicely too. Certainly by Thursday and Friday
01:47we could see temperatures into the high teens in one or two spots, but by Friday things
01:50will start to turn more unsettled as low pressure arrives from the south and west.
