A seven-year-old Singaporean boy died while being treated for injuries after an accident between a car and a lorry at KM2.4 of Jalan Pantai here bound for Permas Jaya.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the incident occurred at 10.34pm on Sunday (March 16).

00:00A family outing turned tragic on Sunday night, when a fatal accident occurred on Jalan Pantai

00:12The collision between a lorry and a Singapore-registered car happened at approximately 10.34pm.
00:19According to Johor Bahru South, OCPD Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, preliminary investigations
00:26indicate that the 57-year-old lorry driver lost control of his vehicle, causing it to
00:32veer into the oncoming lane.
00:34The lorry then collided with a car carrying five people, four Singaporeans and one Indonesian
00:39national, including the 44-year-old driver.
00:43The impact was so severe that a seven-year-old boy seated in the back was ejected from the
00:48vehicle.
00:50Despite medical efforts, the child succumbed to his injuries.
00:54The remaining passengers and driver are currently receiving treatment at Hospital Sultan Ismail.
01:00Police have detained the lorry driver, who tested positive for methamphetamine.
01:05Further checks also found that the suspect has no driving licence or vocational licence
01:10while the vehicle's road tax has expired.
01:13Authorities are asking for public assistance with the investigation.
