00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Mark O'Britannia.
00:03We've got a weak weather front affecting the central slice of the UK during the course
00:07of the afternoon. That's bringing quite a bit of cloud and some patchy rain to parts
00:10of Northern England, North Wales and the North Midlands. Sunnier towards the south, particularly
00:14across the far south of England here, and some sunshine towards the north-west of that
00:17weather front, with a few showers across the north and west of Scotland. Temperatures though
00:21are still disappointing for the time of year, thanks to that north to north-easterly breeze.
00:25No higher than 10 or 11 Celsius, 11 in London there is 52 in Fahrenheit.
00:30So as we head into the evening and during the overnight period, cloud will continue
00:33to filter south and westwards across England and Wales, so the early sunshine there to
00:37end the day across the far south will give way to cloudier skies overnight. So for much
00:40of England and Wales, quite a bit of cloud around, some patchy rain at times. Towards
00:44the north and north-west of the UK, some clearer spells developing, particularly across parts
00:48of Northern Ireland and towards the north and west of Scotland. It's here we'll see
00:51the lowest temperatures tonight, given that clear weather. Temperatures could well get
00:55down to minus 5 Celsius in one or two rural parts of Scotland by Monday morning. The frost
00:59much more patchy though the further south we come, given that cloud, the breeze and
01:03also one or two spits of spots of rain around. So we start the new working week with plenty
01:07of sunshine across the north and west of Scotland, a fair bit of sunshine across western parts
01:11of Northern Ireland too. Here the cloud will tend to increase as we go through the day,
01:15so sunshine will become more hazy. Whereas across England and Wales, pretty cloudy towards
01:19southern and western spots, a few showers down towards the south-west of England. But
01:22notice out across eastern and south-eastern England, we'll start to see some drier air
01:26moving in from the near continent, so more and more sunshine developing here as we go
01:30into the afternoon. Won't do an awful lot though for the temperatures, it's going to
01:33stay pretty cold for the time of year. Temperatures during the course of the afternoon, no higher
01:37than 9 or 10 Celsius, 10 down towards the south and south-east there, it's 50 in Fahrenheit,
01:42nearer 7 to 9 degrees towards the north and north-west of the UK. As we go through the
01:46evening during Monday then, we'll see clearer skies pushing west and north-westwards across
01:51all parts of the UK, that drier air started to filter in from the near continent across
01:55other areas. So it's set to turn quite chilly by Tuesday morning, you can see a widespread
02:00frost in fact, down to minus 7 or minus 8 Celsius by Tuesday morning across parts of
02:04Scotland. That holds out a pretty sunny day to come on Tuesday, and plenty of sunshine
02:08then for much of the rest of the week before things turn more unsettled on Friday. That's
02:12pretty much it from me, but of course you can keep tuned to the Met Office forecast
02:15by following us on social media and also subscribing to our YouTube channel. I'll see
02:19you soon, take care, bye bye.
