00:00These are the final harrowing moments of Natasha Marais. Police attended her flat
00:06to find her unresponsive and despite their best attempts she was pronounced
00:10dead at the scene. Suspicions were initially raised when Natasha's mother
00:15received a text message asking for money. This prompted Natasha's mother and
00:21brother to attend her flat. When they tried to knock on the communal door a
00:27man appeared at Natasha's window that they did not know and he refused to
00:31allow them entry. Another of Natasha's brothers attended the scene and
00:36recognized the man as being Shannon Grant. Police carried out a search of
00:41Grant's address where they found a sawn-off shotgun which he pleaded guilty
00:45to possession of.
00:49Found within a wheelie bin outside of the same flat were personal items
00:54belonging to Natasha and clothing that Grant had been wearing the day before.
00:59Natasha died of ligature strangulation. A cable tie which was found on her body
01:04had Grant's DNA on it and CCTV from the day before Natasha died also showed
01:11Grant buying the same cable ties at a DIY store in Coventry. CCTV from a house
01:19near Natasha's home showed the moment that Grant discarded of a jacket and a
01:25bag at the side of a house. The same CCTV showed him on his phone making numerous
01:31calls in an effort to get back to Coventry. The CCTV you are watching along
01:37with the DNA evidence found on Natasha's body was instrumental in the
01:42prosecution's case against Grant. Following a trial at Leicester Crown
01:47Court, 27-year-old Shannon Grant was found guilty of the murder of Natasha
01:52Maurice.
