00:00Well, hello everyone. How are we all? Welcome back to my channel. We're back in English turf. We're back home
00:06I'm actually really excited to vlog today. I think I've taken about a week off
00:09Obviously the uploads have still been regular for you, but I haven't even had a minute to see my mum so yet
00:16You just come running in
00:18Hello
00:21We got the memo. Oh my god, this is so, I haven't literally just that second hit record
00:25I haven't even been like my mum's coming for good. I'm here. She's here. I'm here guys
00:31I
00:34Had about five or six days off of filming in fact, I think it's been longer
00:38So I feel a little bit like I miss vlogging. I said to my mom's I'm gonna vlog today because we've got a really nice weekend
00:44So as you've just saw my mom's in town and it's a 60th birthday
00:49next
00:51You alright? Is that much of a shock? Were you not expecting that? No. You can't run away from it.
01:01But if you take off the Sir John Count and Corbridge, I'm not really 60. You're like 50 really.
01:06Pretend you're 50.
01:08Yeah, my mom's. Oh, sorry.
01:10That's not me. That's not her.
01:14It's the washing machine. Oh, come on. Might just have to give it a minute. Yes, mom's here for the weekend
01:20She got here yesterday. We had a lovely cheese fondue. I'll leave a photo on screen. It was absolutely delicious.
01:25Actually, let me quickly show you if I can. I mean, this is a bit grim. It's not the bin, but yeah
01:31It comes all like pre-grated in a bag and then you just like melt it. Oh my god.
01:35Mom is like her favorite meal is a cheese fondue. So that's all we had last night.
01:39So I didn't vlog that but I thought we'd film today because we've got dinner booked in town at 5 o'clock
01:46at a place called Brasseries Adele, which I love and then after that we're going to the theatre.
01:52So mom didn't know we were going to the theatre so I surprised her.
01:54So you're going to go see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and I've heard it's amazing.
01:59It was on the What's On Stage Awards and it won a couple of awards. So I think it's going to be good.
02:05I don't know how they're going to make it into a musical, but we'll see.
02:08Different. Yeah, we do different. Oh, I love that you're trailing in mud.
02:14Thank you mother, that's fine. God, you know, long gone are the days when I used to get told off as a kid for trailing in the mud.
02:21Hang on a minute, hang on a minute. What? Oh no, I was never that bad.
02:25I was never, no, you've got to admit I was one of the cleanest kids. I used to keep my room ship-share.
02:31Everything had a place. Exactly. And that's exactly why I'm still the same now.
02:36Anyway, we've got loads of time actually. Yeah, we've got tons of time.
02:40We haven't got to be in town till 5. So we're going to head to the retail part.
02:44Mum needs some new sunglasses and I need to get a log basket for the logs in the living room.
02:49We haven't really got a spare one. I don't know how, because we're going to have loads of baskets.
02:53But obviously when we move from the house, when we move from the flat to the house, like everything just got filled up.
02:59So, yeah, we need a little basket for the logs and that's it really.
03:05But you haven't got a home centre near you, have you? Do you have one? No, it's the Metro Centre, isn't it?
03:10That's your nearest one. No, no, there is one. Is it a bit naff? Yeah.
03:18So, yeah, mum likes to have a look. So we'll have a look in Primark with you guys.
03:23Oh my gosh, in 95 now, because I've brought seven books. Oh my gosh, yeah.
03:28Mum's reading again. So mum had, can I say you've had cataract surgery?
03:32Yeah, well you told them last time. It's a six-year-old woman, of course I have cataracts.
03:36Mum had cataract surgery in both her eyes and now she can see everything, which is amazing.
03:41So mum's been reading loads now. So she brought all of the books that she's read to London.
03:45So we've got tons. But I can't, I need to show you, this is ridiculous. I can't even put books in my own home.
03:50Zara's got a system and I can't mess with the system apparently.
03:54And it's all now categorised by author, which is just both brilliant and also absolutely ludicrous.
04:00So let me show you the piles. So there's like obviously different ones.
04:06These are all of the books that mum's gave us and I have only put one away because I know that they go here.
04:11So these are all of the Frieda McFadden books. So that was the one that mum brought.
04:15This is the boyfriend actually. Maybe when we're back, I'm going to finish this.
04:18I've literally got about, I'd say about 30 pages left. It is brilliant. I'm loving it.
04:23I feel like we've got so much to catch up on. We've got some new homeware bits I want to show you.
04:26I've been getting my skin treatment, which has been amazing.
04:29This is why my skin's actually looking the best it's looked in about eight months.
04:34I genuinely could cry with happiness. I've only had three sessions of light therapy and it's madness.
04:39It's absolutely madness. So yeah, I'm very happy about that. Other than that, nothing else to report.
04:44We've took Maggie for a walk this morning. She is absolutely pooped.
04:48Last time we took her to Greenwich and it was so nice. It was very foggy.
04:51It's still quite foggy out there, but she is wiped.
04:53So we can go and have a little look around the retail park and she's just going to sit and snooze, aren't you?
04:57And if you're wondering where Zara is, she's actually gone home this weekend.
05:01She's gone to Devon because she hasn't seen her family obviously since Christmas.
05:05So yeah, she's not going to be with us this weekend, which is a bit of a shame,
05:10but obviously it's part of the thing when you move away, when you live in London,
05:15you kind of got to see them when you can. So hence why she's gone home.
05:21Although she gave you a birthday card, mum.
05:24Yeah. Yeah, it's true. Right, let's go to the warm centre.
05:28I also need to get my car washed because it is filthy. The birds have had an absolute field day on it.
05:33So that's great. Right, let's go.
05:35Can I tell you how nice the weather is today?
05:37You might not be able to tell because I'm currently in the scaffolding.
05:40I've seen people doing some kind of like restoration works in the retail park,
05:43but it's blue skies now for like nine days and the sun is out.
05:48I feel like it's the first day of spring. It's March 1st.
05:51Mum's got a new shirt on because she has cataract surgery.
05:53I don't know if I've mentioned that.
05:55I don't know if I've mentioned that.
05:57I don't know if I've mentioned that, but mum had cataract surgery.
06:03Anyway, so we're heading to Homesense, Log Basket.
06:06You watch, there won't be one.
06:08Although Homesense always have a really good selection of baskets, so fingers crossed they do.
06:12Okay, in we go. Mum, just here.
06:14I know that. Go on, say it again. I don't.
06:19Okay, so we've come into Next Home and I feel like they've got some really lovely bits in.
06:22I love this marble wall.
06:25It's £40. It's a little bit pricey, but I think it's got really nice tawns.
06:29And they've still got this cushion that me and Zara saw last time.
06:32It says No Riff Raff. I actually really like that. It's very cool.
06:35And this candle holder is lovely too.
06:37It's £26, but it's got all of the different like heights and I think that's absolutely gorgeous.
06:42I quite like that green vase.
06:44That's a very nice colour. How much are you?
06:49£20.
06:51That's actually pretty good. I like the colour of that. I think that's really nice.
06:54They've also got like lords of different tawns with the olive as well. That's really nice.
06:57I like this stripe. That's quite cool.
07:00They've also got a nice like bouffle one there with the rust. I think that's quite lovely as well.
07:04I think Next Home, sometimes you get some pieces and they're really good, but then sometimes they're quite expensive.
07:09Like £32 for that I think is a little bit steep. It looks lovely, but I haven't been to Next Home in a while though.
07:15Zara had something like this saved on her mood board for her bedroom. It's £79.99.
07:20It's like a lovely striped footstool with like manglewood feet. I really like that.
07:26I'll send her a photo to see if she wants me to grab her because we can kind of put it away until we're ready to do her room.
07:31That is lovely. They have them in like a nice taupey colour here too.
07:35They've got so many candles in the clearance section. We genuinely don't need any.
07:40But I always can't resist light smelling them.
07:43They just had a waffle candle back there, which was really nice.
07:46There's been like a viral bagel candle that apparently smells like bagels, but it's not very nice. I can't find it in here.
07:51That's really nice. I like the pattern on that. That's £10.
07:55It's not really that punchy.
07:59Nice though, like nice and subtle, but honestly we don't need any candles.
08:03Oh, Spicy Woods, £12 for a triple wick. That's a pretty good go on.
08:07Smells like really massive. I think that's the sand and fog. Yeah, they're pretty good.
08:12I think sand and fog is also stocked in Tesco.
08:15Okay, I found the bagel candle. I have to smell it. Apparently it's...
08:21No. No, no, no, no, no.
08:24It doesn't know what it wants to do. Look, it's the everything bagel.
08:28I don't like that. I don't like that.
08:31I mean the jar is pretty cool. Like you could definitely reuse the jar, but yeah, it's £12.99 as well.
08:36No. No. Not for me.
08:39Not for me being concerned Homesense didn't have enough baskets.
08:42Wow, there are so many to choose from.
08:45Okay.
08:48That one might be quite nice. I think something more...
08:51Oh, that's nice. How much is that one?
08:55£16.99. Okay. Okay.
08:58Yeah, I think something substantial definitely. If it's too wide, like the wood will...
09:01or the barcode bits will fall through, won't it?
09:04Maybe something with a bit of a pattern.
09:06Well, that one up the top is quite nice. I quite like that one. Yeah, that's nice.
09:09Baskets. Yeah, I think we've got a couple of these in the house already. It was £14.99.
09:13And they also picked up a new serving spoon as well because ours is broken.
09:17And this was in the clearance for £6.
09:20It's like a nice lovely water jug.
09:24Very happy. They've got some really lovely pieces here as well.
09:28Oh my goodness, I love that as well. That's so nice.
09:31The frame as well. £19.99. How is that so good?
09:35Good. That's a really good price.
09:37I don't know how this happened. Well, I do know how this happened.
09:39It's Homesense. It's the Homesense of Urquhart. I just saw this cushion.
09:42It's Martha Stewart. It's £19.99. It's got like a lovely scalloped edge.
09:47I think that'd look really nice in our living room.
09:49And then... Yeah, it might be. Who knows?
09:53But I really like that. So, yeah.
09:56That's coming home with us. I will find a space for it somewhere.
09:59They've got loads of clearance. Oh, this one's £21.
10:03It's bad that I really like that. I feel like that looks really cool.
10:07I don't know. I really enjoy that.
10:10I feel like that could be in Orca or something like that and be a lot more money.
10:14It was originally £74. It's down to £21. That's so good.
10:19Guys, the weather has been so nice recently. Look at that.
10:22Hello, Maggie.
10:23They've got the doors fully open. The sun beaming through.
10:28Okay, we are back from Homesense. And I always say this whenever I go up.
10:31In the minutes that you go into Homesense, prepare yourself,
10:34because you're going to leave with more than what you probably went in for.
10:36Let me show you what we got.
10:38So, obviously, Zara isn't here, so I have to run everything by her.
10:42So, this is the first thing. I think I showed this, actually.
10:45This is a Lowry. Well, it's obviously not an original Lowry.
10:48But this was reduced. It was £74.99.
10:53And then it was down to £21.99, which I think is absolutely brilliant.
10:58It's, like, a really cool, like, classic Lowry print.
11:01I really, really like it.
11:03Yeah, I think it's some kind of, like, Victorian scene.
11:06He looks like he's given him a bit of bother with his bowler hat.
11:09I think that's going to look lovely. I love the black frame as well.
11:12I think that looks so cool.
11:14And it's very, like, in keeping with our home as well.
11:17It does have a tiny little bit of damage on the bottom of the frame,
11:19but I honestly think with a bit of filler and some paint,
11:22I'll be able to solve that absolutely no problem.
11:24So, yeah, that was £21.
11:26And I did send it to Zara, and she did say she liked it.
11:29Next up, this is the Martha Stewart cushion that I saw.
11:32I love this. If this doesn't go on the sofa,
11:35it will definitely go on my bedroom, because, obviously, my bedroom's blue.
11:38And I think with the red tawns, I think that'll be really nice.
11:41I love that. £20. Literally £19.99.
11:44How good is that? And, yes, the Martha Stewart.
11:46Originally £49.99. Brilliant.
11:49And let me show you why I bought this.
11:51I'm so happy to do this.
11:53I've had this metal spoon since I moved to London,
11:56so it's eight years old.
11:58This is one of the very first things... Do you remember when we had the box?
12:00Yeah. So I was going to go to uni in...
12:03Well, the year before I moved to London,
12:05and then ended up taking a gap year.
12:07So this is one of the very first things that I got.
12:09It's lasted, but... Oh, is it going to work?
12:12Yeah.
12:14It's kind of, like, fully... Yeah, anyway, not great.
12:18So, here we are. This is... Oh, that's annoying.
12:21It's hand wash only, because it's got a wooden handle.
12:23That's fine, but it's Poir le Maison from Jeff Banks.
12:26Who knew Jeff Banks did homeware?
12:28I think it looks fancy, though. Do you?
12:30It's very nice. So that was £3.99.
12:32And then, last but not least, I got this little glass jug.
12:35I thought it could look nice up here.
12:37We do have this glug-glug jug up here, which is the fish one,
12:40but we don't tend to use that, but I think that could look really nice.
12:43Oh, look at that. It's like it was made.
12:45Can you see that?
12:47There we are. It's just there.
12:49I'm obviously going to give it a wash out,
12:51but I think that's a really nice, like, water jug
12:53for when you're having lunch or dinner
12:55and you just don't want to keep on getting back to the tap.
12:57That's fab. Not that we needed any more jugs.
12:59Mum also went into TK Maxx and picked up this shirt.
13:01It's a really lovely linen.
13:03100% linen.
13:05It's the same as the linen mix. You can tell that's linen.
13:07Yeah.
13:09It was £16.99.
13:11It's from a brand called Lucky and Corcor.
13:13I think that's really, really nice.
13:15We're going with the blue stripe, Mum.
13:17It's very French.
13:19It is very French, isn't it?
13:21Very nice.
13:23Yeah, that was Mum's purchase.
13:27Oh, yeah. Mum also got a spatula.
13:29I see this all the time.
13:31My one kitchen non-negotiable is a silicone spatula.
13:33We have two, and they're brilliant.
13:35They are, like...
13:37You wonder why I'm clumsy,
13:39I guess, from my mum.
13:41And last but not least, the baskets.
13:43This is going to be the log basket.
13:45£16.99, I think.
13:47No, sorry, £14.99.
13:49And, yeah, that's going to be the log basket.
13:51Why don't we put the logs today?
13:53Nah.
13:55Oh, no, David, we've got time.
13:57We're about to go for dinner in a bit, Mum.
13:59No, we've got hours.
14:01And then you can put them in your basket,
14:03and then they're ready.
14:05Stop being lazy. It's a lovely day.
14:07Lazy? I don't know how you dare.
14:09It's a lovely day.
14:11I want the new soda.
14:13I think the soda might actually be in the loft,
14:15although it might actually be in the shed.
14:17I'm not entirely sure.
14:19If it's in the shed, we'll do it.
14:21If it's in the loft, we want to put on loads first.
14:23I'm kind of hungry.
14:25We're going to do jacket potatoes
14:27because I've got some bolognese in the freezer.
14:29So we're going to do jacket potatoes.
14:31I don't know if there's going to be enough bolognese.
14:33Maybe one could have tuna,
14:35and one could have bolognese.
14:37I wouldn't mind tuna.
14:39But the bolognese needs eating.
14:41So I actually checked the weather yesterday,
14:43and apparently we are going to have sun
14:45for the next seven days.
14:47It's so nice.
14:51Sorry about the sound of the air fryer,
14:53but you can hear the birds.
14:55Are you enjoying it, Maggie?
14:57Oh, it's lovely, isn't it?
14:59It's so nice.
15:01It just makes such a difference.
15:03Honestly, I love it.
15:05We're making some jacket potatoes,
15:07but we're going to do a very small portion
15:09for four hours.
15:11Obviously, you've got to book early when you go to the theatre
15:13because the theatre starts at seven.
15:15So you need to get in and out and not rush.
15:17Lunch is served.
15:19That is a gigantic jacket potato.
15:21Mum's having leftover bolognese.
15:23I had some in the freezer.
15:25This is nice. It's fairly light-ish.
15:27I do have some extra bolognese on the side.
15:29I'm going to dig on in.
15:31Oh, this is the jug that we just got at HomeSense.
15:33How nice is that?
15:35Oh my goodness, amazing.
15:37It's so good and the sun is out.
15:39Oh my god, that actually exposes
15:41how much I need to get them windows streak-free.
15:43That is a...
15:45Yeah, no.
15:47Focus on the tulips and not the streaky windows.
15:49Okay, so the jacket potatoes
15:51were absolutely delicious.
15:53I'm going to have a little coffee as an afternoon pick-me-up.
15:55I want you to try one of these,
15:57even if you just have a little bite.
15:59I got these in Ras al Khaimah.
16:01They are little cakes, but they're filled with date paste.
16:03I'm going to have one of these
16:05with pistachio.
16:07Oh, you could have one of these
16:09if you prefer.
16:11They are the most addictive
16:13thing you will ever have. They are delicious
16:15with a coffee, and it's not Arabic coffee.
16:17Yeah, these are honestly...
16:19I've had a couple already. I've had two. They're so good.
16:21Mum's obsessed. I knew you would be.
16:23Aren't they so good?
16:25It is a big roll.
16:27It's a big roll in the cake, isn't it?
16:29Honestly,
16:31I have a couple of these
16:33after a meal,
16:35and it's just that little sugar
16:37hit,
16:39but it's a natural hit, rather than having
16:41a biscuit or something.
16:43They're dangerous, honestly.
16:45If you ever find yourself in the Middle East, get these Mamoul cakes
16:47and you will thank me later.
16:49I'm presuming there'll be somewhere in London
16:51you can get these.
16:53Okay, I've just finished
16:55The Locked Door by Freda McFadden. This is book number
16:57three of the year,
16:59so a really good one.
17:01A very fast page-turner.
17:03Definitely recommend this. Freda McFadden's books
17:05are so, so good. Did you know Freda McFadden's
17:07not even a...
17:09Her job isn't an author.
17:11Do you know what I mean? I think she's
17:13a lawyer.
17:15I swear.
17:17Obviously, if you've read the Housemaid
17:19books, they're brilliant.
17:21Freda...
17:23I have to fact-check that, or at least I've got
17:25it confused with someone else, but
17:27here we are. Freda McFadden is the pen
17:29name of a best-selling American author, so it's a pseudonym.
17:31Her name's not Freda McFadden,
17:33but she's actually a practising physician
17:35who specialises in brain injuries.
17:37I'm not really good at biology at all.
17:39I specialise in a lot of things.
17:41I don't know what's going on.
17:43There we are. My whole life is a lie.
17:45Love that.
17:47Add that to your read list.
17:49Okay, so we just got out of the Tube and we're walking
17:51through Dean Street now, through the streets
17:53of Soho. I'm not going to lie, I'm actually not
17:55very hungry.
17:57Well, I don't know why we...
17:59I think it's because it passed lunchtime.
18:01We had breakfast semi-late,
18:03so, yeah, I think maybe
18:05having a potato wasn't the best idea.
18:07But we don't have to get a lot. Zedell's one of those
18:09places... I don't even know if I've said that, but we're going
18:11to Brasserie Zedell. It's one of those places that you don't
18:13need to get, like, a mass. You can just
18:15get little bits. I'm kind of in the mood
18:17for a little cocktail. So is Matt.
18:19Good. That's what we like to hear.
18:21Okay, we've arrived to dinner. It is so
18:23busy. Oh my goodness. What is going on?
18:25I think the rugby must be on.
18:27Anyway, we're at Zedell. We're going to head on in.
18:35Wow. I love this restaurant
18:37so much. Okay, we're going to head on in.
18:39You wouldn't think this
18:41was under Piccadilly Circus, would you?
18:43Oh my goodness. This is such
18:45a beautiful restaurant. I absolutely
18:47love it. It's gorgeous.
18:49The waiter has just brought
18:51over some lovely, warm,
18:53freshly-baked bread and butter.
18:55And they have lots to choose from. It's a
18:57predominantly French restaurant, but yeah, they've
18:59got some starters, mains,
19:01and desserts. These are the specials. But they also
19:03have a pre-fixed menu, so if you are coming
19:05pre-theatre, that actually works out
19:07pretty good. Three courses for £20.
19:09This arrived so quickly,
19:11literally. Nor soon had the Malbec
19:13arrived, our dinner has arrived. So we've got
19:15steak with a lovely peppercorn sauce,
19:17some frites, and we ordered a side salad. This bread
19:19is absolutely
19:21heavenly, and I'm glad we've got it so we can
19:23dip. Mop-up. Yes,
19:25mop-up. As we say in the North, this
19:27is mop-up bread.
19:29Dessert has arrived.
19:31We've gone for a lemon meringue pie to share
19:33because we are very
19:35full, but I wanted something sweet.
19:37And I've just gave Mum her
19:39birthday surprise.
19:45So I printed this off, and it was in a little
19:47envelope, and it opened me on it.
19:49So I dropped my napkin on the floor purposely,
19:51and I dropped the envelope on the floor,
19:53but my Mum thought it wasn't for her.
19:55She was like,
19:57who's is that? It must have been from the previous table.
19:59It's for you. Happy birthday,
20:01we're off to Paris.
20:03Yeah.
20:05Okay, so we've made it to the theatre. I'm slightly
20:07confused because this is the Mousetrap,
20:09and this is the Ambassador Theatre, so I
20:11was like, I'm so confused. That's not
20:13where we're going. So that's one of the oldest,
20:15I think possibly the oldest
20:17running theatre show in London. It's the 73rd
20:19year, but this is where we are.
20:21So this is the Ambassador Theatre.
20:23Yeah, this is where we're going.
20:25In we go. Okay, we are
20:27heading in. We're in the stalls.
20:29So they've just said you can't
20:31leave the performance midway, so
20:33something tells me there's an interval.
20:35Okay. Oh wow, it's very
20:37intimate. Oh my goodness, we're all
20:39safe. I think this might be us.
20:41Oh my goodness, wow.
20:43Okay, we're out of the theatre.
20:45That was absolutely phenomenal.
20:47Like, I'm gonna go as far
20:49as saying, top
20:51three shows I've ever seen in
20:53my entire life.
20:55Like, yeah, fully cried. Like, I didn't
20:57expect to cry. Fully cried.
20:59I laughed. I felt like my breath
21:01stopped at one point. Like, it was
21:03phenomenal, but I loved it. I genuinely
21:05loved it. And I would say
21:07if you are considering
21:09something different,
21:11that is the show for you. Like, the cast
21:13not only played all their own instruments,
21:15there was no orchestra, there was no
21:17conductor, they literally
21:19did it all. And they swapped
21:21instruments. And they swapped, like, and different characters played
21:23different people. If you've never seen the
21:25film Benjamin Button, watch the film
21:27and then go and see the theatre show and you
21:29will be, yeah.
21:31Like, honestly.
21:33It's blown me away.
21:35Incredible. Absolutely incredible. Thoroughly enjoyed.
21:37Would thoroughly, thoroughly recommend.
21:39I'm not gonna lie,
21:41I didn't expect to cry. So there we are.
21:43Anyway, we're gonna head to the Tube
21:45and feel like, maybe I need a
21:47cup of tea in the deep room before we get in.
21:53Good morning, everyone.
21:55Happy Sunday.
21:57I feel like we didn't fully catch
21:59up from yesterday. I should have set
22:01the camera up in time.
22:03I've got a thing about surprising
22:05people for trips, clearly.
22:07So, Zara's trip to New York was a
22:09surprise for her birthday. And I wanted
22:11to do something for my mum this year because it's her
22:13special birthday. And
22:15she hasn't been to Paris in years. I think the last
22:17time she went to Paris was over 12 years ago.
22:19Maybe even longer. And
22:21if you've been watching the channel for a while, which
22:23I'm sure a lot of you haven't, but
22:25we went
22:27to Stockholm years ago.
22:29But I said we were going to Paris just to try and
22:31throw off the scent. Anyway,
22:33Paris has always been somewhere that I want to
22:35go with my mum just because I think it's the most incredible
22:37city. And my mum has a lot of memories
22:39there as well. So, yeah.
22:41Last night, in the restaurant, I slipped
22:43the booking confirmation for the
22:45train tickets and the hotel
22:47under the table.
22:49I was going to go to the toilet and
22:51give the envelope to the waiter.
22:53And then the waiter was going to bring it over to the
22:55table with the dessert menus. But we had
22:57three different waiters in that restaurant and I just felt
22:59like it was going to go wrong.
23:01And I had every fear that
23:03it was going to go well if I just did it under
23:05the table. So, yeah.
23:07That's how I did it. And, yeah,
23:09mum had no idea. But she just
23:11she's very excited. So, she's just booked
23:13her train tickets to come to London in a
23:15couple of months. I feel like it's going to be nice and
23:17warm. Well, hopefully, like, spring will be well
23:19and truly in the air.
23:21The end of April literally started May.
23:23So, it's not long at all, really.
23:25So, yeah. I'm really, really excited. I love Paris.
23:27I think it's one of the most amazing cities.
23:29And I still haven't got over
23:31last night. I feel like that show was
23:33I put it on my Instagram this morning.
23:35It was genuinely one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life.
23:37Like, if you get the chance,
23:39see it. The tickets weren't
23:41exactly cheap, but we booked them on to Diatix.
23:43And they do
23:45rush tickets as well, so you can get on
23:47the Diatix. If you do live in London, you can get to
23:49London fairly easy. Incredible.
23:51One of the best shows ever, ever,
23:53ever. I'm going to rave about that till the cows come home.
23:55Anyway, I've been to the gym this morning.
23:57It's really frosty warm out there. The car was
23:59completely frosted up. But it's another
24:01blue sky day, which is amazing.
24:03So, I think we're going to head to East London
24:05this morning. So, we're going to go to Columbia Road Flower Market,
24:07which I've been going to
24:09for years. I absolutely love it.
24:11Maybe get some spring bulbs.
24:13That would be lovely. And Mam loves it there too.
24:15We're going to take Maggie. And then we're going to head
24:17to Broadway Market
24:19in East London, because Mam's never been.
24:21And I've only been once, and it's like a really
24:23lovely street market in
24:25East London. So, that's today's
24:27plan. We're going to take Maggie, and then we've got
24:29dinner this evening at a restaurant called
24:31Kwale. It's in Borough Market.
24:33My friend, Bethany, who works at Borough Market
24:35recommended it because it's Thai.
24:37So, I'm so excited for that. And Mam loves
24:39Thai food. So, that's until 7 o'clock.
24:41So, yeah. It's going to be a really lovely day.
24:59It is such a beautiful
25:01day. Oh my goodness.
25:03I'm just like never going to get over this.
25:05Feels like the weather has
25:07just given us a little break. It was really
25:09grey and rainy for
25:11so long. And like blue sky.
25:13Oh my god. I could actually cry with genuine
25:15happy tears.
25:17It's the little things. Anyway, we've
25:19made it to Columbia Road. Coffee.
25:21I think coffee's definitely on the cards
25:23to you. Please. Mam
25:25didn't have a good night's sleep last night because Maggie
25:27sat on sleeping in the bed with her.
25:29But it's now unfollowed.
25:31Yeah, she's fine.
25:33My god.
25:35Maggie has to be like on you.
25:37And every time you move, she
25:39throws herself on you again. So, it's just like a
25:41game of who can give up first.
25:43I was at the point though when she turned
25:45and her face was like there. Yeah, like face
25:47to face on the pillow. Yeah, it's intense.
25:49Anyway, right.
25:51Obviously, Columbia Road is very busy. Oh, I need to type my
25:53shoelace. Actually, give me two seconds. Can you hold Maggie?
25:55So, yeah. It's
25:57very busy obviously because it's the first
25:59like sunny weekend we've had.
26:01I'm going to say all year but
26:03I don't think it's been that bad. But anyway, yeah. Everyone's going to
26:05be doing their gardening bit. So, yeah. I'd quite like
26:07a couple of bulbs for the garden.
26:09And maybe some moss to do some spring planting.
26:11But, oh, this is so exciting.
26:13Here we go.
26:15Oh, wow. It is very busy
26:17this morning. Me and Maggie are just patiently
26:19waiting, aren't we?
26:21Mam's just gone into Pavilion to get us
26:23a little coffee. It is so
26:25busy today. I've seen it busier but this
26:27is like, yeah, it's chocker.
26:29This is a typical day at Columbia
26:31Road.
26:45Mam's just spotted some lemon trees.
26:47Yeah. I haven't seen them.
26:49Oh, wow. They're amazing.
26:51I love, oh, this is all of
26:53the culinary. They've got some rosemary and thyme.
26:55Mmm. Smells amazing, doesn't it?
26:57This is Vintage Haven.
26:59I always look in here. I've had loads of bits
27:01from here over the years.
27:03These little drawers are gorgeous.
27:05They're £27 for the set or
27:07£50 for the two. I really, really like them.
27:09I love how battered and worn they are.
27:11They'd be great for spice drawers or even on a desk.
27:13So, I think I'm going to get some spring bulbs.
27:15I've seen some nasties. It's the two for a fiver.
27:17So, I think I'm going to grab
27:19a couple and get planting when I'm
27:21home. I'm feeling inspired.
27:23Look at the daffodils as well. They're so
27:25vibrant.
27:27Look at these. It's very hard to
27:29see them, but you can see the little flowers
27:31blooming in the ground. Just some wild flowers.
27:33Nature actually blows my mind.
27:35They've just been pollinated naturally.
27:37Isn't that great? Yeah.
27:39Maybe someone has sprinkled them
27:41then. Who knows? Maybe they did, yeah.
27:43Okay, we are leaving a very
27:45busy Columbia Road.
27:47It was chocker and obviously having Maggie
27:49as well. Didn't want to
27:51linger around too long, so
27:53we've decided to head to Broadway Market
27:55now, so it's coming up to lunchtime.
27:57We're not doing what I did yesterday and eating
27:59too little lunch, but we've got dinner
28:01at seven tonight, so we've got plenty of time
28:03to let lunch digest.
28:05Mum's never been to Broadway Market before
28:07and, like I say, I've only been once
28:09but it's really nice. It's got a good variety of
28:11just everything, really.
28:13I don't know. Maybe something
28:15like... because we're having Thai
28:17tonight, so let's avoid Asian
28:19but then I love Asian food. Maybe
28:21something... I'm trying to remember what I had last time. I think
28:23I had like a wrap. Do you know what I'm going to do?
28:25Just let your nose decide.
28:27I'm going to let my mind open, which is quite easy
28:29to do. Yeah.
28:31Good plan. I've got two
28:33bulbs as well. I should have brought a talk bag.
28:35I always forget.
28:37The Narcissus. Narcissus? Is that how you say it?
28:39Narcissus? I don't know.
28:41Narcissus. Narcissus.
28:43Narcissus. Narcissus.
28:45The woman was super lovely. She gave Maggie
28:47a beefy hula hoop.
28:49Okay, we've made it to Broadway Market
28:51which looks just as busy
28:53as Columbia Road.
28:55But yeah, I am ravenous. I don't know
28:57how, but yeah, I'm very, very
28:59excited. I don't know what I fancy, so we're going to have a look down the main
29:01bit and see what there is. But there are
29:03loads of lovely shops either side of the road
29:05as well. We've got some freshly baked bread
29:07over there, farmhouse cheeses.
29:09Nasi goreng.
29:11Nasi goreng. I actually
29:13had that last time. That was really good.
29:15We've gone for bao buns to start.
29:17Wow. Good girl, Mags.
29:19Maggie thinks she's getting some.
29:23Okay, we've gone for two bao buns.
29:25Mum went for chicken and I went for
29:27duck. They were two for eight pounds,
29:29so four pounds each. They look amazing.
29:31Look at the size of those Scotch eggs.
29:33They look absolutely incredible.
29:35Oh my goodness, wow.
29:37There is so much. We've gone down
29:39the other side now and there's just like even more to choose
29:41from. We have spotted
29:43some tacos that we like the look of.
29:45There's also chicken pitas.
29:47Oh my god. Chicken rolls.
29:49Paneer rolls.
29:51Mmm. Tikka.
29:53Tikka guys over there. I've gone
29:55for round two. I've gone for some chicken dumplings
29:57from a Lebanese store. They look so
29:59good. Oh my god, I'm so excited
30:01to try these.
30:03Battling her way through the crowd. Well,
30:05what have you got there?
30:07It's all quite normal. Oh, okay.
30:09What do you mean?
30:11It's a philly churro, no? Yeah, with
30:13Nutella. Ooh.
30:15Go on. Take a bite. Say what you think.
30:17It might be hot. Careful.
30:19I have napkins if you need them.
30:21Oh my god, that spilled all the way through.
30:25Is it hot? No.
30:27Is it good? Is it? Have a bite.
30:29Wow. Okay, we are back
30:31home and the sun is still shining.
30:33Look at that.
30:35Oh my goodness. Sorry, I feel like I should
30:37probably just title this vlog, this is a weather vlog.
30:39But all I do is talk about the
30:41weather. I'm so happy. This is the first
30:43we've had in like a long time where like
30:45it's just consistently been sunny.
30:47So I'm gonna do a bit of pruning, a bit of cutting back, a bit of
30:49tidying off. There's some leaves I need to
30:51emulsion a couple of bags.
30:53Yeah, why not? Ooh.
30:55What are you? Can you see that there? I don't know
30:57what you are, but you seem to be grown.
30:59That's exciting. That eucalyptus has absolutely
31:01gone crazy over the winter.
31:03Look how amazing that is.
31:05So many new leaves.
31:07Oh my goodness. I think I'm gonna need to get some kind of like
31:09support
31:11for that so it'll start growing up more.
31:13This is the oregano
31:15I need to check on.
31:17But again, that is absolutely loving it.
31:19What was this time? I think this might have been time. I can't remember.
31:21But yeah, I just need to do a lot of pruning.
31:23A lot of de-weeding as such.
31:25Do you know, it is
31:27so nice to be amongst the hustle
31:29and bustle of
31:31East London and then come home and
31:33sit in the garden. I love it.
31:37Right, I'm gonna go in the shed and get my gloves
31:39out and give everything a bit
31:41of a tidy up. I'm quite looking forward to it.
31:43Hopefully this is the start of the good weather
31:45and we've got lots of nice
31:47warm days coming.
31:49I'm using my gloves that I got from
31:51Christine and Simon's aunt and uncle
31:53and they are so nice.
31:55These are from Kew Gardens.
31:57I'm obsessed.
31:59They are like the softest gardening gloves ever.
32:01I almost don't want to get them dirty.
32:03Tell you what, one thing I actually do need to get
32:05definitely are some new Sackateurs
32:07because these are
32:09not great. They were really cheap from Wicks and we got them
32:11when we first moved in but
32:13I don't think they're gonna do another
32:15summer. They're fine. Apparently if you cut through tin foil
32:17it sharpens them up
32:19but they're just not really that great.
32:21Don't know. Anyway,
32:23let's start tidying and pruning.
32:27Music
32:35Ok, so I pruned back the mint but we've already got
32:37some regrowth which is
32:39fantastic. It's so nice to see.
32:41I mean, considering it's only March,
32:43I've done a really hard pruning. I've taken it
32:45fully back. This was the Moroccan
32:47mint. So, again, I've fully
32:49trimmed that back. So hopefully
32:51with some of these purple shoots
32:53we will have some more
32:55regrowth. I'm not entirely sure, it's the first time I've pretty much done this, but
32:59we'll see. So that's done. So if you remember last year, I bound this little sink at one
33:06of our neighbours' front yards that they were throwing away and I asked if I could have
33:08it. This fan has absolutely bounced back brilliantly. Look at that. It's amazing. The ivy is thriving
33:16as well. Loads of new leaves going on. I'm going to give it a little trim, but we've
33:20got lots of new growth underneath. So yeah, I'm just going to take off the little brown
33:24bits of these edges, but that is absolutely thriving.
33:31Okay, there we are. The bulbs are in the roots, are firmly in the soil. So hopefully we'll
33:47have a bit of growth in these and then we can plant them in the ground and then continue
33:52to flourish. Everything's looking a lot more tidy and clean as well. I just need to prune
33:56back these little bits here and then, yeah, we're literally, we are done. Everything's
34:04been snipped back. This rose, I think I'm actually going to put in the ground just because
34:08I feel like it needs, it needs to spread its wings. And also this bay tree as well. It's
34:14in a tiny little pot that we've just popped in that urn. I had a lot of questions about
34:18whether or not these urns from Holmesons were frost proof. And do you know what? So
34:22far, brilliant. We've had a pretty cold winter and they've survived. So that's good going.
34:26Okay. After all of that gardening, I am going to treat myself to a cinnamon bun. Not that
34:31we haven't had enough delicious foods today. I made these. This is using the M&S pre, well
34:37it's like pre-weighed mix. You add all the ingredients and you basically got to make
34:41them from scratch, but it's just so easy and they are delicious. I customised the recipe
34:46slightly. If you do get the box, they sell it on Ocado as well. Cream cheese in with
34:50the frost and they say to use melted butter or milk. I use cream cheese and it makes them.
34:57So I think that's exactly what I'm going to have right now. And I'm positively excited
35:01about it. Do you want a small one, ma'am, or a big one? No worries. And yes, I put extra
35:07cream cheese on top. Literally microwave for like 30 seconds. Heaven. Okay. We are doing
35:15a little bit of a relaxation before. Well, we were going to go out for dinner, but we've
35:19decided against it. And I think we're just going to order an Indian tikka instead, which
35:23is still fine. Watch film and just relax and have a relaxing Sunday. I've lit the fire.
35:27I just feel a bit pooped, a bit frazzled, but that's okay. So anyway, I've started this
35:31new book. Well, at least you haven't started it, but I'm about to. It's called Watching
35:35You by Alyssa Jewell. And I actually got this for mum for Christmas and you enjoyed it,
35:40didn't you? I did. So there we are. I'll be starting that. I love that Frieda McFadden
35:44The Locked Door. So good. Genuinely so good. Mum was like, where did you put that book?
35:48So I've been running around the house trying to find it. She'd already put it in her bag.
35:52I think we're both just a bit frazzled. Anyway, I'm going to sit and read this with the fire
35:56on and I think we're going to order a takeaway soon. I'm looking forward to it.
36:06I found a new Indian takeaway in our area. So I was Googling Indians where we live and
36:13this place came up with 4.5 stars. The restaurant, it's like a sit-in restaurant. Oh my God. They've
36:18been so generous. They give us an extra Indian bhaji, an extra naan bread, an extra poppadom,
36:24two cans of cork. We didn't even order this, but so lovely. Look like this. Oh my goodness.
36:31There's so much left in. We're watching Unforgettable on Netflix and so far it's
36:36really, really good. The virus is blipping away. Honestly, I'm so excited to try this.
36:41It looks absolutely amazing. We've got an onion bhaji, we've got the little salad bits,
36:46saag aloo, jalfrezi tikka, and then some veggie dish. Oh, this looks amazing.
36:52I love restaurants, but I also just love this. Good morning, everybody. Happy Monday. I am full
36:59of beans this morning. It's Monday morning. The sun is out. It's bright blue skies. I've never felt
37:05more alive in my life. Oh my goodness. Spring is in the air. I'm feeling good. I'm feeling
37:11really good. So I just went and had my fourth skin session this morning. So I spoke about this,
37:17but I'm having skin therapy three times a week and it's helping so much. I feel amazing. Combining
37:25that with just trying to get my diet in order and eliminating things that can kind of trigger my
37:29skin. So wheat and, oh my God, the sun is going to blind me. Wheat and dairy. So trying to like
37:37limit that. Exercising as much as I can. Just feeling amazing. So yeah, I had my skin this
37:43morning, so I have to travel to the London Bridge for that, but it's absolutely fine.
37:46So I'm trying to tie in a workout class in with that as well. So I'm not just literally coming
37:51into town for like a minute. That's how long the therapy is and then it gets longer. So I did a
37:57One Rebel this morning and it was amazing. So One Rebel is a mix of, they do Pilates,
38:05they do spin classes, they do all sorts. I just did a reship class. I'm going to rest
38:11this here and swap arms because my arms are in bits. So a reship this morning is a mix of
38:17treadmill work and accessory work. So dumbbells and your heart rate spikes and it keeps it there.
38:24So you absolutely work for a 16 minute total and by the end of it, you are
38:30cooked as I like to say. Absolutely cooked. So even holding my camera up now is hurting.
38:35But that means I've done something right. Yeah, I just love it. It's just, I feel like I'm alive
38:40again guys. I don't know what it is. I feel like I'm a complete shift in my mindset recently of
38:45just doing stuff for me rather than like waking up, turning on my computer and just cracking on.
38:50Just actually doing stuff that just makes me feel alive and I love it. That doesn't have to be a
38:55workout class. That doesn't have to be exercise at all. Just doing something that makes you feel
39:00good. You know, if that's reading or if that's going for a walk or if that's taking up knitting
39:07or learning an instrument or language or whatever it is, if you can find the time, do it. Sorry,
39:13it's really loud. Anyway, it's still really early. It's just gone ten past nine. So I'm
39:19going to head back to my mum and Zara. She drove back to London last night. But my mum's train's
39:25at one o'clock at King's Cross so I need to head back, grab her and then take her into town. Sorry,
39:28it's very loud. I also got a shake at One Rebel. It's the biscoffee shake. It's got biscoffee in
39:33it but it's got protein powder and oat milk and I think it's got some dates in there as well.
39:39We all know I'm loving my dates.
39:45Okay, so I'm back. Look at that golden light behind. Oh my goodness, that is so nice. I'm
39:50actually going to title this vlog The Weather Vlog. It's so lovely. Let me open these shutters
39:54to get a bit more light in. I took my mum to the train station to say goodbye to her. It was short
39:59and sweet but I'll be seeing her very soon actually. We're going to have Ivy in London for
40:04the next couple of, I think I'm actually going to, in about a week's time. Yeah, we're going to have
40:09her for about a fortnight or get used to seeing two Labradors around. And obviously then we're
40:14going to Paris at the end of April, which is so exciting. I can't wait. Anyway, I realised at the
40:18start of the vlog, I actually didn't show you the homeware pieces that I said I had to show you. So
40:24I thought I'd be nice to show you them now. This is the log basket, by the way. I feel like it fits
40:28so nicely here. These are the logs that we get from Horn Bargains. They are the
40:33smorkless, Defra approved logs. I don't know how they make them smorkless, but yeah, it's pretty
40:38amazing. I actually think cutting them into thirds is going to be better. They're really heavy and
40:42dense. So they last a while. One of these lasts about two hours, which is brilliant. So yeah,
40:48I think I need to cut them into smaller chunks so then the ends are exposed. But honestly, it's
40:52such a difference. Like the sun has been lovely, but the minute it goes in, it gets quite chilly.
40:56So yeah, it looks really nice there. I'm very pleased with that. Also, sorry if you can hear
41:00the washing machine, that's just the bedding spinning. Bless my mum, she strips the bed
41:03the minute she leaves. Such a mum thing to do. Anyway, yeah, this is the lamp. So this is from
41:08M&S. It's really, really lovely. It's kind of different from my usual style, but I think it
41:13looks really nice. Let me see if I can turn it on. There we are, we have lift off. It creates like a
41:17really lovely light on the wall. It looks gorgeous. I feel like the pop of green works really nicely
41:22in the corner. So yeah, that was from M&S. It was very kindly sent over actually. So I'll link it
41:27down below. Yeah, they also sent over this marble chopping board, which is lovely. It weighs an
41:32absolute ton. So I think we'll use this definitely more in like the summer months. I don't think
41:36we'll actually chop on it, but more as like a presenting board. If you've got like little
41:39nibbles and things on, that'd be really nice. And then I just popped the lamp that used to be
41:43in the odd ball on that table I just showed you here. These cables kind of annoy me, but the
41:48toaster moves over there anyway. So it hides the cable, so it's fine. And then this also
41:53is from M&S. It's a lovely black solid marble ball. It is very, very heavy. Again, would be
42:00really good as like an egg ball or a fruit ball or any kind of ball really. But yeah, I really,
42:04really like it. And then this is a fruit ball that they sent over and it does actually have
42:09a fruit in it. We are needing to do another food shop, but yeah, how nice is that? I love like the
42:14wavy pattern. I think it goes really nicely over here because it's like a pop of colour. It looks
42:19very, very nice. But I remember starting the vlog saying that I wanted to shoot some homeware
42:23pieces and then classic me, I just got distracted. But I'm actually going to wrap up this vlog. I
42:29really hope you have enjoyed it and it's been just so nice to have my mum in town. So of course I
42:35will link everything featured down below, the theatre show, the restaurant and everything else
42:39that we did. But yeah, lots of love to you all. I really hope you're having a lovely start to your
42:43spring and I'll catch you all very soon in a future video. Bye for now.
