I went to Liverpool's new El Gato Negro tapas restaurant.
Transcript
00:00Back in January, El Gato Negro announced it would be relocating from its beloved
00:05exchange flag site to Castle Street. Taking over the former home of Viva
00:10Brazil, the restaurant officially opened at the end of February. We headed down to
00:15the new site to try it for ourselves. We shared some delicious olives and each
00:21got three tapas dishes. Jack got the chicken thighs, bikini toasty and calamari
00:26while I got the patatas bravas with vegan aioli and the broccoli and cauliflower.
00:32We thought the portions were going to be quite small but they were so big and the
00:36patatas bravas was honestly probably the best I've had. The aioli was so good, the
00:42salsa was perfect, just can't fault it at all. Although Jack did take quite a lot
00:48of it for himself. The tender stem broccoli was genuinely the nicest
00:53broccoli I've had in my life. It had like a chilli sauce, garlic and salt and
00:57honestly I could have just eaten five more plates of that to be honest. The
01:03bikini was like a posh cheese toasty and while I definitely didn't try this
01:08calamari, Jack said it was really nice but the fact that it was baby squid did
01:13kind of freak me out a little bit. The cauliflower was so good too and had the
01:18nicest like umami sauce and pomegranate seeds and chickpeas. The whole meal was
01:26just amazing and I think we both actually preferred this site to the old
01:29one.
