This past weekend saw Rangers ace Jacob deGrom make his Spring Training debut, pitching a clean two innings against the Royals. Of course, it was only an exhibition game, but did seeing him back on the mound get you excited for his potential this season? Kevin and Cory talk about his chances to be the AL's Comeback Player of the Year, if he can stay healthy of course.

00:00It's just, you can't help but be like, oh my gosh, I remember how amazing this is.
00:20But is this a sucker bet?
00:22Is this the same thing as me saying the Cowboys have $50 million in free agency, so money,
00:28so maybe they'll go get people.
00:30Is that the same thing as me thinking Jacob DeGrom's back, he's healthy, and he's going
00:34to kick ass all year long?
00:35Yes.
00:36Okay.
00:37It is.
00:38Well, and I think DeGrom's even saying the slow ramp is important to him.
00:43The way the Rangers are doing it.
00:44We talked last week with Jared about him being at the back of the rotation.
00:48Yes.
00:49Why can't you take it easy on DeGrom, Kevin?
00:52Why do you-
00:53Because Evan Grant's headline got me all hyped up all over again.
00:57That can be true.
00:58Listen everybody, it can be true that DeGrom, when he pitches, is the best pitcher on the
01:04planet.
01:05When he's on the mound, you're probably not having a better pitcher on the mound.
01:08But we all know the reality, and so we just have to temper every expectation about what
01:13he is, and understand that even if he has 12 strikeouts and 5 innings, he might be done
01:20for the day.
01:21Yeah.
01:22You know, like that might be, we've done everything we need to for the day, bullpen is fine and
01:26we'll take care of it.
01:28We don't need to push you anymore.
01:30Kevin, every time he gets on the mound, I will hold my breath most of the game, just
01:36because I'm like, oh my gosh, just waiting for the moment where he looks to the dugout
01:40and then looks at his arm.
01:42Like I'm just waiting for that.
01:43Does that prevent you from enjoying his season?
01:46I hope not.
01:47I'm dead serious, I hope not.
01:49Because I've said this, I missed out on Max Scherzer's, when he was at his best.
01:56I don't want to miss out on us having to grum still in his prime, or the back part
02:01of his prime, being good to go.
02:04I don't want to miss it and not enjoy it.
02:06But it is a part of me that's kind of sitting there squeezing and clenching a little bit
02:10with every pitch that he throws.
02:12But he can still be great, but still have those things.
02:15And we'll say it over and over, as long as he's great during the playoffs, we're happy.
