00:00Good afternoon, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Really exciting
00:07today to be speaking to Josh Hamler in Missouri. I think I'm saying that in a very English
00:12way. How do you say it?
00:15Missouri.
00:16But you're not going to be there for that much longer. The band is Shaman's Harvest
00:21and you are heading to the UK for the first time in your 29 years. And in a way it's about
00:27time too because you're citing all your musical influences and they're English. So how come
00:32you've left it so long before coming here?
00:35You know, it hasn't been without lack of effort. We've tried to come over multiple times and
00:40we've always been an opening act for a larger act that was more established. And the four
00:45times that it's happened, each time it's kind of fell through, not because of us, but because
00:50of something with them. And so we were talking with our good pals in Blacktop Mojo and we
00:57decided that we both had the same ideal of wanting to come across the pond and rock out
01:03over there. And we said, why don't we just do it together? And that way there's no excuses.
01:08It's on us this time. And so right now we're scheduled to show up on March 4th and start
01:15the concert, start the shows on March 5th.
01:18I should mention you got a date at the Arch in Brighton on March the 29th. Do you have
01:24clear images of what it's going to be like? Do you think musically you're going to feel
01:27at home, that you're going to be welcomed, that you know what the audience is going to
01:31be like?
01:32You know, it's going to be a learning curve, but the response we've been getting online
01:35and our social media, all indicators are it's going to be a success. So we can't wait to
01:42come over and make a memory.
01:43Fantastic. And you were saying that this year is the year of new music for the band. You're
01:47starting releasing singles and there's going to be a string of them.
01:51That's right.
01:52Probably building towards an album later this year.
01:54Yeah, that's right. Building towards the record. Last Thursday, we released our first single
01:59of the year, Rock and Roll Queen. That is just a sweet old soul of a banger. And, you
02:06know, she's a she's a she's a hot one. And so, you know, we started off with new music
02:12right out the gate. We're going to come over and do the tour and then we're going to come
02:16back stateside, hop in the studio and knock out the record and have some new music to
02:21supply the world with for the rest of the year.
02:24And the music is the title of that single suggests rock and roll, isn't it?
02:28That's right. Rock and roll.
02:29The best.
02:30You know, it's the best. You know, we as a band, the industry has tried to, like, you
02:36know, categorize us for many, many years. And yes, we are rock and roll, but we're a
02:40sonic jambalaya of blues, rock, metal, folk and sometimes even country. So every song
02:48gets its own its own methodology. Every record gets its own, you know, thing. So we rarely
02:56duplicate. We're all about creating original art.
03:00Fantastic. Well, congratulations on finally making it over here. I hope it lives up to
03:05every expectation and you have a great time, including that date, March 29th at the Arch
03:11in Brighton. Lovely to speak to you. Thank you.
03:14Yeah, we're looking forward to it. Thank you, Phil. Appreciate it.
