00:00This is a restaurant like no other.
00:07Tell me, why aren't you single?
00:09I just attract absolute assholes.
00:11Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.
00:13Yeah, I'm sorry too.
00:15Hello Fred.
00:16These hopeful singletons.
00:18What are you looking for today?
00:19Love of my life.
00:20This is my first date.
00:21Oh, same here.
00:23Are about to take a bold step into the unknown.
00:27You ready?
00:28Yeah, I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready.
00:30Questions you ask on a date.
00:33How are you?
00:34Yeah, I'm very good.
00:36For some, romance is on the horizon.
00:39That was quite nice, wasn't it?
00:42But the path to love is...
00:44Oh my goodness.
00:45Unpredictable.
00:47Breathe in.
00:48And Cupid's arrow...
00:50You're not pregnant, are you?
00:52Can sometimes miss its mark.
00:55Bad joke.
00:56Does he like me, does he not like me?
00:58Do I like him, do I not like him?
01:00I don't know.
01:01Do you wear deodorant?
01:03No, I'm a little bit sweaty.
01:07Oh, what a shot.
01:09We make it happen, baby.
01:11Oh, that was a kiss.
01:13We make it all happen.
01:16One meal.
01:17I want to kiss you, but I feel really nervous.
01:19This is not awkward at all.
01:21You ready for this?
01:22Yes.
01:23One big question.
01:24Would you like to sing to her again?
01:26That is not the response I was expecting.
01:30I've got a dungeon.
01:32I own a dungeon.
01:36This is the first date's restaurant.
01:51Tell you what, the weather...
01:53Oh, gorgeous.
01:55I'm more energetic in the sun.
01:57I feel like I'm, like, fed from it.
02:01When I date in hot weather, I feel radiant.
02:11You're looking so cool. Really cool.
02:15Oh.
02:16Outfit's good, isn't it?
02:18Nice, huh?
02:20This is 54-year-old Johnny,
02:23a man who puts the speed into dating.
02:26What do you do for a living?
02:27I was involved in motorsport.
02:29Oh, really?
02:30I used to race Le Mans 24.
02:31Oh, you were a racing driver?
02:32That's what I used to do.
02:33Wow.
02:34I'm just old.
02:35Are you looking for a little bit of va-va-voom?
02:37I am looking for some va-va-voom.
02:39In my day, when I was younger,
02:40you needed a lot more balls to chat people up.
02:43So you ready?
02:44I am ready.
02:45Getting back into the sort of dating game felt weird and strange.
02:48It's all done on apps now, isn't it?
02:50OK, come with me, Johnny.
02:51Good to meet you.
02:52It's totally changed to the days
02:53when you're standing in a pub or a club
02:55and you're like, you know, play it cool, you know,
02:58I'm going to go over there and try and buy them a drink
03:00and they tell you to sling your hook.
03:02Johnny used to be a racing driver.
03:03Had you? Did you win anything?
03:04One Daytona, won the European Championship once.
03:07I raced for Ferrari, Porsche.
03:09I didn't realise how lucky I was at the time,
03:11but when I was racing, it just makes you feel alive.
03:13You know, the closer to the edge you are,
03:15the more alive you feel.
03:16What would you like?
03:17I'll have a Negroni, please.
03:19And tell me then, what are you looking for?
03:22Do they need to have a similar sort of sense of adventure?
03:25Yes.
03:26Right.
03:27Yes, they do.
03:30I need somebody that's got a bit of excitement,
03:33got a bit of get-up-and-go,
03:34got a joie de vivre the same as me.
03:44Oh, la, la!
03:48What's your name?
03:49Snogwalla.
03:50Snogwalla.
03:51I was wondering how to pronounce your name.
03:53Let me pronounce it again.
03:54Snogwalla.
03:55Snogwalla.
03:56Snogwalla.
03:57Yes, not bad.
03:58My name is from Lithuania,
04:00and it actually translates into Snow White.
04:03Yes, my dad thought that I looked like Snow White when I was born.
04:08Now it would be nice to be that prince and be kissed.
04:13So what do you do?
04:14I'm a dance teacher.
04:15Are you?
04:16I became a Lithuanian champion for five times in a ballroom
04:20and then moved to this country, continued dancing.
04:24Shall we have a little dance?
04:26Ooh!
04:27Wow!
04:28I like a quintessential British guy.
04:31Like a James Bond type guy?
04:32James Bond type is perfect.
04:36This is Johnny. Enjoy.
04:37Hi.
04:38Hello.
04:39Hello.
04:40Very nice to meet you.
04:41What's your name?
04:42Snogwalla.
04:43What's your name?
04:44Snogwalla.
04:45Snogwalla?
04:46Yes, but you can call me Snow.
04:47Snow. I'm Johnny.
04:48Nice.
04:49Nice to meet you.
04:50Johnny.
04:51Snogwalla.
04:52Where's that from?
04:53Originally from Lithuania.
04:54Lithuania.
04:55Can I get you a drink?
04:57No, I really, really would love a nice cappuccino.
05:01This, either coconut milk or whatever other milk they have.
05:04We'll see what they have. I think we've got oat milk in.
05:06Oat, perfect.
05:07Was that decaf or regular?
05:08Not decaf.
05:09There's no point of coffee if it's decaf, is there?
05:12How do you think you come across on a date?
05:15Some guy was trying to chat me up in a bar,
05:18and he says, I find you so intimidating.
05:21I would like to find a man, if I can say, with a bit of balls,
05:25you know, that wouldn't be scared of me.
05:28How long have you been living in England?
05:3025 years.
05:3125 years.
05:32Maybe a little bit more.
05:33I did some university study here,
05:35did a master's degree in dance science.
05:37OK, does that mean you're an ex-dancer?
05:39Yes.
05:40So what area of dance were you...?
05:42Ballroom and Latin.
05:43Oh, my God. OK.
05:45Yeah.
05:46Fantastic.
05:47Yeah, and what do you do?
05:49I'm in motorsport.
05:50I retired four years ago, five years ago.
05:52You drove?
05:53Yeah, I used to race.
05:54In England?
05:55No, all around the world.
05:59Do you have cinnamon?
06:01Er...
06:02Somewhere, yeah.
06:04Because you put chocolate and I don't...
06:06Well, that's cappuccino.
06:07It traditionally has chocolate, not cinnamon.
06:09But I like... I prefer cinnamon.
06:13All right, I'm going to start this whole thing again
06:16and I'll bring you a new one.
06:17All right.
06:20My coffee has to be perfect.
06:22OK.
06:23Sorry.
06:24No, that's OK, that's OK.
06:35Enjoy your date.
06:36Yes, thank you.
06:37Thank you, Fred, thank you.
06:39OK, this might be a bit...
06:41You got it, it goes...
06:42Er, Effa, you don't have anything else to do?
06:45We...
06:46But what about you? What about you?
06:48No, we...
06:49Sorry.
06:51Returning to the restaurant is school caretaker Dominic.
06:55Hello.
06:56All righty.
06:57Hello.
07:00Yeah, lovely to see you, but also I'm nonplussed.
07:04Why are you here?
07:05Well, you tell me, mate.
07:07You tell me, Merlin.
07:08You can't win them all, can you?
07:10No.
07:11I've got the huge phobia of moths and butterflies.
07:15Really?
07:16Something I've done that's quite crazy.
07:18Scuba dived with great whites.
07:20Can't swim.
07:21Can't swim?
07:22I could bob about.
07:23Yeah.
07:24I bob through life.
07:25You bob through life?
07:26I bob through life.
07:27That's what I do.
07:29I mean, I would like to see you again too, but as a friend.
07:33I just don't feel good in myself.
07:37Yeah, sorry.
07:41I feel kind of more ready.
07:43I've been practising conversations with other humans.
07:46That's a great way to go about it.
07:48Yes.
07:49Thank you very much.
07:50Good luck today.
07:51Thank you very much, Merlin.
07:52I won't see you next week, but...
07:54No, you never know.
07:55Please, no.
07:56No.
07:57Last time.
07:58Or you're barred.
07:59Yeah.
08:00I'm still looking for a nice lady, is what we're after.
08:03Maybe someone a bit more laid back.
08:08Oh, fuck.
08:13This is 29-year-old Beth.
08:16She's hoping her date becomes something more than a mate.
08:20I've got this weird habit of just becoming really good friends
08:23with people that I've dated,
08:25so I've got this, like, new collection of friends.
08:27One of my closest friends now we met on a dating app,
08:30he called me unhinged on the first date.
08:33Why did he call you unhinged?
08:35Cos I probably am a bit unhinged.
08:37Hello. How are you?
08:39What's your name? Beth.
08:41What kind of man are you looking for?
08:43One that can tolerate me, yeah.
08:46I'm only joking.
08:47No, just someone funny, I think.
08:49Someone funny.
08:50Yeah, make me laugh is the most important thing.
08:52Yeah, lovely.
08:54Love long hair, love a moustache, you know.
08:57Bit rough around the edges, like indie.
09:00Come with me.
09:03Look like they don't wash, but do wash.
09:07Hey, what up?
09:08Hi! Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Beth.
09:10Beth, lovely to meet you. Nice to meet you.
09:12Dominic. How are you doing? Very good, yeah, really good.
09:14I'll have an orange juice and lemonade at the moment.
09:16Oh, nice. Lovely time.
09:17Thank you. What can we get you?
09:19Could I get a lager, please?
09:23Lovely. Thank you so much.
09:25What do you do, Beth?
09:26I work for an animal charity.
09:27Sick! Oh, the coolest thing. Yeah, yeah.
09:29Oh, gosh, yeah. What do you do?
09:31I'm a caretaker at a secondary school.
09:33Are you really? Oh, that's cool. Do you enjoy it?
09:35Yeah, I just bob about.
09:39Thank you so much.
09:40Cheers.
09:41Cheers.
09:45So where do you live? Where are you from?
09:47I'm Southampton.
09:48I'm Brighton-based.
09:49Oh, cool.
09:50Yeah, so not too far.
09:51Before that, I was living in a van and things like that.
09:53Oh, really?
09:54Yeah.
09:55I've just bought my van.
09:56Oh, quality.
09:57I'm relying on my stepdad to do the build for me.
09:59Love that.
10:01I don't ask for my help, because I will cowboy build.
10:03I should have insulated.
10:04I put a diesel heater in there, slept in it,
10:06and then I woke up with fumes everywhere.
10:08Oh, gosh, yeah, OK.
10:10Gosh, then rip that out.
10:11Yeah, you're not coming in my van.
10:13No, I don't let people in.
10:19OK, can I pour my milk?
10:21Yes, we have mineral water. Is that all right?
10:23Ah, we have just tap water.
10:25If you want mineral water, we have sparkling.
10:28I'm OK with sparkling if you drink sparkling.
10:30Yeah, OK, I mean, I'd rather have mineral water.
10:32Sparkling? OK.
10:33Thank you. Sorry about that.
10:36Do you mind if I order a white?
10:38Anything except chardonnay.
10:39I prefer Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc second.
10:42It's funny how we're picky.
10:44I was noticing that straight away,
10:46that we're both very, very picky.
10:48Maybe it has something to do with the fact
10:49that we're slightly older.
10:51OK, here we are.
10:53Sorry about that.
10:54No, don't be sorry.
10:55We're actually competing who is most picky here.
10:57The woman always, really.
10:59Of course.
11:03So how come you're alone? How come you're single?
11:06Well, I was married 25 years.
11:09I got divorced two years ago.
11:12The trouble is that literally my son was born
11:15just as my career took off.
11:17And so I suddenly went from being at home
11:19and racing in this country to travelling all around.
11:21And so I was gone a lot.
11:23So my ex-wife became like a single parent
11:26almost.
11:28I do regret the obsession, maybe, that I had.
11:32But I also know that if I hadn't had that obsession,
11:34I probably wouldn't have been able to have
11:35as long a career as I did.
11:37I had to race in Adelaide
11:39and I had to fly on Christmas Eve.
11:41So I missed Christmas.
11:43I remember my son trying to get into my suitcase.
11:46I was packing my suitcase and he just got in it.
11:48He was only about, what have you been, three?
11:50And he just stood in it and he said,
11:52Daddy, take me with you.
11:53And that's heart-wrenching.
11:55You know, it's heartbreaking.
11:56You kind of become totally emotionally absorbed
12:00by what you're doing.
12:02Yes, for sure.
12:03And then anyone else who's not in that bubble
12:06kind of gets left out.
12:08If I could go back and do things differently,
12:10when I was home I'd be a bit more present.
12:12Even though I was there, I'd be a bit more present
12:14thinking about my family.
12:16My ex-wife used to joke with me
12:18that motorsport was the other woman.
12:21With my career and my marriage ending at similar times,
12:23you're left with a hole in your life that you need to fill.
12:26It takes a lot of adjustment and a lot of soul-searching,
12:29accepting that maybe, you know,
12:31this is just the second part of your life.
12:33And I think that's something that I'm really open to embracing.
12:37Cumberland scotch egg. Do you understand that thing?
12:40What? I know what it is.
12:42Why would they stuff egg in some kind of thing?
12:44Meat and then fry it, yeah.
12:46Yeah, why?
12:47I think it's upsetting for the egg.
12:49Seriously.
12:51Have you ever had one?
12:53I don't even want to start because it just looks off-putting.
12:56Ah, but you can't say... You can't judge. You're not allowed.
12:59OK. In fact, one scotch egg, right.
13:01No! OK.
13:09Do you have, like, dietary requirements or anything like that?
13:12Avoid meat, usually. Avoid meat, yeah.
13:14The poor cows, mate. Bless their hearts, innit?
13:17Love a cow, yeah.
13:19I love a cow. I really do.
13:21And cats as well. I love cats.
13:23Do you? Yeah. I think cats are the best thing ever.
13:25They are the best thing, yeah. So good.
13:27This is my cat as well. Oh, it is actually?
13:29Yeah, well, he's dead now. Well, my cat's dead too.
13:31Cheers to dead cats. Yeah, two dead cats.
13:33Yay! Thank you. Sorry.
13:35It's so dark.
13:39Do you date much? No. No, really? OK.
13:41I would say, yeah, I don't really do any dating.
13:43Really? OK. At all. Never.
13:45Hi. Hello. How are you?
13:47Oh, welcome back.
13:49Ooh, yes.
13:51Yeah, I know. Oh, OK.
13:53Thank you. We'll talk about that in a minute.
14:11Can I get the noodle salad but with the meatless nuggets, please?
14:15For you. Are we going the same thing?
14:17Very good. Thank you. Thank you so much.
14:19Thank you. Thank you.
14:21She just dropped you a little bit, didn't she?
14:23Yeah, so, not my biggest dater, but I was here last week.
14:25Getting through the... Hmm.
14:27I feel quite anxious the first time.
14:29Oh, yeah, I can imagine. And it's just in my head a lot.
14:31I was when I walked in.
14:33I haven't been in a relationship in a long time. Really?
14:35Like, four or five years. OK.
14:37And I hadn't really done any dating in that time. Yeah.
14:39She moved out, and that's when I kind of, like...
14:41I couldn't afford the flat I was living in.
14:43I had to pay for the flat completely on my own.
14:45I applied for overdrafts, payday loans,
14:47paying for them,
14:49and then it just builds up, builds up.
14:51I ended up getting myself in a lot of debt.
14:53I just, yeah, I really didn't know what to do.
14:55I was really in a difficult position. Yeah.
14:57That's when I started living in my van.
14:59So, so cold.
15:01Just be shivering.
15:03There'd be condensation when I wake up,
15:05and you'd just wake up to basically raining your own breath.
15:07It's just very lonely.
15:09So easy to get caught in your own head,
15:11on your own, in a car park.
15:13You're going to miss me.
15:15I'm glad that's over. Yeah.
15:17In the end, work,
15:19it let me stay in a little place
15:21until I sorted myself out.
15:23I have learnt a lot about myself through that.
15:25And you can never know where your lowest bottom is.
15:27I know. Like, you think you're at the bottom.
15:29Yeah. Another bottom comes along,
15:31and you think, ooh, crikey,
15:33I wonder how far this goes.
15:35Literally, my life.
15:37My friend said it, like, a week ago.
15:39I was like, I always think you hit rock bottom.
15:41And then rock bottom just hits you back harder.
15:43Oh, no.
15:45What kind of things have happened to you?
15:47Just my dating life, if anything.
15:49I was like, do I say that out loud?
15:51My dating life is very tragic.
15:53Really? Yeah.
15:55For the second time. I'm here for the second time.
15:57She said no.
15:59I said, all right, then, no worries.
16:09So, my date over there
16:11is a car driver.
16:13A racing driver? Yeah.
16:15Oh, nice. Sexy.
16:17She's a dancer. I think that's a good match.
16:19Yeah. You're good at dancing?
16:21I know. Yeah.
16:27It's nice to have a date.
16:29For a long time, I haven't had one.
16:31Have you not had a date for a while?
16:33Yeah. I think I'm maybe a little bit disappointed
16:35with men.
16:37The few relationships maybe
16:39that I had since divorce,
16:41it wasn't maybe particularly nice.
16:43When did you get divorced?
16:45Ten years ago.
16:47I mean, I was married for 15 years.
16:49My ex-husband is also a dancer,
16:51so we live together, we dance together,
16:53we work together, we travel together.
16:55That's opposite.
16:57So you were a lot apart.
16:59I was a lot together.
17:01And you always wanted to be a dancer
17:03ever since you were a little girl?
17:05Do you remember that?
17:07Yes. In the beginning, I think it was just more
17:09because I wasn't wanted
17:11in the dancing class
17:13to prove that I can be good.
17:15See, there you go.
17:17I dared myself. There's the motivation.
17:19Yes. And then I became good
17:21and then I fell in love as well.
17:23But you strike me as being quite tough mentally.
17:25I think I am.
17:27Apparently, I'm terrifying.
17:29People are scared of me.
17:31Growing up, I was travelling a lot
17:33at a very young age with dancing,
17:35not being with my parents,
17:37and I guess built sort of the outer shell
17:39around me to say,
17:41I'm strong, I'm not really scared of anything.
17:43I was really inside.
17:45I'm quite vulnerable.
17:47It's exciting and terrifying
17:49to open yourself, yes.
17:51Do you drive fast
17:53on the road then?
17:55I like to get from A to B as quickly as possible.
17:57I like
17:59driving.
18:01I definitely would like to
18:03try a race or...
18:05You just haven't had the opportunity?
18:07Yes, definitely.
18:09Maybe we'll fix that one day.
18:11Yeah, maybe.
18:13It would be nice, I guess, to try, for sure.
18:25It's really nice here.
18:29Dog groomer Pollyanna
18:31wants more than just
18:33puppy love.
18:35I love being a dog groomer.
18:37They just look at me like they tell me they love me.
18:39And if I moan, they don't
18:41talk me back.
18:43I always thought the dog-owning thing
18:45was a really good way of meeting people.
18:47There's not a lot of guys that walks their dog.
18:49Really? No.
18:51There is some, but they'll be in a couple.
18:53What are you looking for in a partner?
18:55I think I'm just looking for someone
18:57to be patient with me.
18:59Because obviously I'm deaf myself.
19:01I didn't know.
19:03Sometimes when it's a noisy background, I'll do a stoggle.
19:05Can you just repeat that?
19:07So you're lip-reading me at the moment.
19:09I've got two cochlear implants as well.
19:11Do you normally communicate in sign language?
19:13Sign language, yeah. I lip-read and I hear as well.
19:15Can you teach me some sign language?
19:17Yeah, so...
19:19I can do drink.
19:21What's cocktail?
19:23Cocktails. I do shake.
19:25Actually, that's my sign name, Pollyanna.
19:27Pollyanna, is it?
19:29Cos I like a sacco and I pop a sacco.
19:33I think my perfect man in a dog
19:35would have been a golden retriever.
19:37They are kind, big,
19:39just a happy dog.
19:41Sometimes a bit silly.
19:43Hoping today's the day
19:45he can finally jump the fence
19:47of singledom,
19:49is 23-year-old stablehand Rob.
19:51If I was a racehorse,
19:53I'd probably be called Assuming the Horizontal
19:55cos I'm often just chilling out
19:57and lazing around.
19:59Probably wouldn't win too many races
20:01and be out the back munching on grass, I'd imagine.
20:03Mind the top of the door here.
20:05How are you?
20:07How are you? Nice to meet you, Rob.
20:09You are tall. I am a tall man.
20:11I bet you everybody tells you that.
20:13All the time. All the time.
20:15Is it annoying? No, not really.
20:17My ideal date would be an animal lover.
20:19Who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty
20:21and working hard but can also enjoy
20:23good times.
20:25Are you ready to meet your date? Absolutely.
20:27Come with me, Rob. Let's go.
20:29I'm definitely attracted to natural girls.
20:31Big set of blue eyes is my
20:33kryptonite, maybe.
20:35Here you are.
20:37Hello. Hello.
20:39How are you doing? I'm good, how are you?
20:41Very well.
20:43What's your name? I'm Pollyanna.
20:45Pollyanna, very nice. I'm Rob.
20:47Nice to meet you.
20:49You look smart. Thank you very much.
20:51I do try.
20:53Welcome. What can I get you?
20:55I might have a pint of lager. That can be done.
20:57Thank you. So what do you do then?
20:59I work on a farm.
21:01Oh, nice. Breeding racehorses.
21:03Bowling, looking after the little foals.
21:05That's cute.
21:07That's fun. What do you do?
21:09I'm a dog groomer. Dog groomer?
21:11Yeah. Very nice.
21:13I just love dogs. I love dogs.
21:15Very nice job to have.
21:17Never been on a blind date before?
21:19No, first time.
21:21Perfect, thank you very much.
21:23Cheers.
21:35I mean, you guys, you've been talking non-stop.
21:37Yeah.
21:39Tell me, can you tell if somebody's got rhythm?
21:41Do you think Johnny's got rhythm?
21:43Oh, my God.
21:45I think because he's a driver
21:47and has to do with speed and he's fit,
21:49he has definitely coordination.
21:51So even if he doesn't have a rhythm,
21:53he could learn very quickly.
21:55But you're a good teacher.
21:57I would like to think so, yes.
21:59Yes, of course.
22:01She was lovely. I like the way she dresses.
22:03I like the way she looks.
22:05I like the fact that she's athletic.
22:07I like the way she thought about things in life.
22:09We both seem to be quite particular about certain things.
22:11It's not over yet, but it's been very nice.
22:17Oh, dear.
22:19Moment of truth.
22:23This is awkward.
22:27Would you like to see each other again?
22:29Ladies first.
22:31That's so unfair.
22:33OK.
22:35Well, I would like to see you again
22:37just to find any faults
22:39and I haven't found one.
22:41Oh, my God, that's really good.
22:43I'm impressed with that.
22:45Yes, I would also like to see her again
22:47and see what can happen.
22:51Are you OK if I get the bill?
22:53OK, Julian, I like sharing, but if you really...
22:55I don't want to offend you,
22:57but I would really like to get it.
22:59OK, let me get it then.
23:01All right, thank you.
23:03Well, sexy as hell when you walked in.
23:05And the fact that I'm not scaring you
23:07when you're running away, that's a good thing.
23:09Yeah, no, no, it takes more than that to scare me,
23:11to be honest.
23:13Have a nice afternoon.
23:15Yes, thank you.
23:17And be good.
23:19And by the way, do you remember my name?
23:21Snow.
23:23Yeah, I'm good. And the other one?
23:25No.
23:27Snaguala.
23:29Snaguala.
23:37Yeah, I'm trying to convince my housemates
23:39to get another cat,
23:41but it's not going well so far.
23:43I have a tortoise now.
23:45You have a tortoise?
23:47Tortoise, yeah.
23:49OK, how's that?
23:51She's lovely.
23:53Yeah?
23:55Yeah, she's so good.
23:57Her name is Tyrone.
23:59She knows her name.
24:01Does she?
24:03So you could say, like, Tyrone,
24:05when was your, like, last relationship
24:07kind of thing?
24:09It ended, like, a year ago.
24:11OK, yeah.
24:13We were together for almost seven years.
24:15Oh, wow, crikey, yeah, a long time.
24:17Yeah, we went to school together.
24:19Yeah.
24:21Yeah.
24:23I still live with him.
24:27OK, yeah, fair enough, yeah.
24:29What a day.
24:31Gotta love it.
24:33I'm getting around that.
24:49That's plenty of room under the table for my long legs.
24:51Yes.
24:53Enjoy your date, guys.
25:01We broke up last year,
25:03and it was, like, a really nice breakup.
25:05We just wasn't working anymore.
25:07And just stayed best friends.
25:09That's all there is to it.
25:11Yeah, that's really nice.
25:13He's the best person I know,
25:15so we didn't want to sell the house.
25:17And he's got a girlfriend now, and she's amazing,
25:19and we get on really well.
25:21It works. It is weird. It's odd.
25:23I suppose it's normal for you, isn't it?
25:25Yeah, exactly.
25:27That's good. That's nice that you managed to remain friends.
25:29What about you? Who do you live with?
25:31I live... No exes in the cupboards?
25:33I don't live with my exes.
25:35So I live on my own at the moment.
25:37It's, like, my first actual flat
25:39that's actually just mine.
25:41Right next to the new forest, pretty much.
25:43Oh, really? OK. Almost walk to it.
25:45As much as I love the nature,
25:47I'm scared of butterflies.
25:49And moths.
25:51I have a huge phobia.
25:53There he comes. That's all right. I'll bless you.
25:55Thank you very much.
25:57I don't think anyone likes moths.
25:59That's a hill I'm willing to die on.
26:01I work with animals, and moths are the worst.
26:03I feel great. I feel so good now.
26:05No-one likes moths. That's fine.
26:07Got to draw the line somewhere.
26:09We've all got our limits, haven't we?
26:11We do, yeah.
26:15How tall are you?
26:176'6".
26:19I was thinking what's up with you.
26:216'4", in the world, is a little bit too small.
26:23I always have to duck my head going through doors.
26:256'6", really tall.
26:27Yeah. People remember you if you're tall,
26:29so you just have to behave yourself.
26:35Do you get on with your parents?
26:37I'm very close with my dad.
26:39I lost my mum a couple of years ago.
26:41I was actually still in Australia
26:43during Covid, so
26:45I couldn't get home
26:47or anything like that.
26:49I had to sit and wait.
26:51Oh, my God.
26:53I was sat on the beach with my friend,
26:55waiting for a taxi to go out and have a few beers
26:57and enjoy ourselves on the Gold Coast,
26:59and I received
27:01a shock phone call from my sister
27:03that Mum had passed away,
27:05which was
27:07a huge shock to all of us.
27:09Obviously very difficult news to take
27:11in any circumstances,
27:13but I was
27:15in Australia during the
27:17Covid pandemic and no way of getting home.
27:19I would have swum home
27:21if I had to.
27:29I don't remember what I was thinking that night.
27:31Jeez.
27:35Ask Mum about it.
27:37Yeah, pretty rough.
27:43Mum was the best.
27:45Yeah, my best friend
27:47in many ways. Always the person I'd go to
27:49and talk about girls.
27:51Oh, you were a mummy boy then?
27:53I was, yeah, absolutely.
27:57She is tough, obviously,
27:59but got the memories, got the
28:01time you spent with her.
28:03Me and Mum watched
28:05First Dates together. We'd always
28:07speak about
28:09one day meeting the right person and
28:11making a life together, and she always used
28:13to encourage me to
28:15just be myself and be genuine and be
28:17honest and the right person will come along.
28:35How can I be helpful?
28:37Can I just have a 50ml vodka
28:39in that tin, please? Yes, if I can find it, yes.
28:41Oh, that's right.
28:55This
28:57is 22-year-old
28:59Rebecca.
29:01Hi, bonjour!
29:03This is a Barbie
29:05dress. It is, pink to make
29:07the boys wink.
29:09Come with me, Rebecca. Thank you.
29:17What can I get you to drink?
29:19Sex on the beach. Yeah, I can do that.
29:21Not a problem. Thank you. Is that what you drink
29:23when you go on holiday, is it? Yeah.
29:25This is a holiday.
29:29No worries. And what do you do?
29:31I work on Bathe Station.
29:33Alright, cool!
29:35Hello, darling.
29:37How can I help you today?
29:41So, I work on a well-known
29:43TV show. Adult,
29:45of course.
29:47I do a bit of webcam
29:49modelling. Just on the
29:51phones, like, just talking to callers.
29:53Most of them are regulars.
29:55What do men say, then, when you go out on a date
29:57with someone, what do they say?
29:59At first, it's like,
30:01oh, wow, you're on TV, or you do this,
30:03how cool, and it's like a trophy.
30:05But then after a few months, it's like,
30:07the novelty wears off.
30:09I do love my job,
30:11but it has caused hell
30:13in my relationship.
30:15People see it as cheating, and
30:17it's not, but it's not. It's a job, yeah.
30:19Yeah, so
30:21that's the problem.
30:23You need a fairly broad-minded individual,
30:25then, don't you? Yeah.
30:27That's cool. That accepts it.
30:29Doesn't get jealous, or
30:31insecure, or any of that.
30:33They're just, yeah, happy with themselves.
30:39I don't really want a pretty boy. I just want a
30:41normal guy that's comfortable with his self
30:43and his body.
30:51Older than me.
30:53And a bit of a scruffy look.
30:57Very respectful, caring,
30:59understanding, that's it.
31:05My eye.
31:07Hoping to ride
31:09off into the sunset with his dream
31:11woman, his photographer,
31:13Mac.
31:15I've seen myself probably as a lone wolf
31:17for many years. I'm doing my own thing.
31:19I live my own life, my own rules.
31:21However, I think it's now time to
31:23expand the pack.
31:29Wow!
31:31Antonio Banderas!
31:33How are you? I'm very good, sir.
31:35I love your jacket. Thank you.
31:37I know how you're feeling today, about being here,
31:39and meeting somebody on a blind date. I'm okay.
31:41You're okay? Yes.
31:47What kind of woman are you looking for?
31:49I don't really have a type.
31:51Okay. Obviously, there needs to be
31:53a physical attraction, right?
31:55I'm looking for a person that
31:57knows who they are,
31:59complete with themselves,
32:01have a sense of identity,
32:03and
32:05also
32:07looking after themselves.
32:09Hello.
32:11Hi, nice to see you.
32:13Mac, how are you doing?
32:15Hi, I'm well, how are you?
32:17I'm good. Your name again?
32:19Rebecca.
32:21Wow, compared to you, I'm not drastically
32:23impressed.
32:25You are! You're fully black.
32:27I love it.
32:29Where have you come from?
32:31Bristol. Tottenham.
32:33North London?
32:35You know what?
32:37Probably in the UK, only for 12 years.
32:39I'm still trying to learn geography.
32:41Where are you from?
32:43Wait, I want to guess. Yes.
32:45Is it in Europe?
32:47Well, we are in the Eurovision,
32:49but we're not actually in Europe.
32:51Ooh.
32:53New Zealand? No.
32:55Am I close? No, not close.
33:01I'm from the Holy Land.
33:03Israel? Yes.
33:05No way, I would not have guessed that.
33:07You are so well-matched.
33:09We are.
33:11The biker and the Barbie.
33:13I like that.
33:15Shall we go to the stables? Let's go.
33:21I don't know if I do like that, to be honest.
33:25I love his jacket.
33:27I used to have the same one,
33:29and I don't know where it is now.
33:31He rides a pedal bike.
33:33Yeah.
33:35Dominique.
33:37How are we doing?
33:39Fred, how are we doing?
33:41You're happy? I'm happy.
33:43I think we've had a lovely time, I think, yeah.
33:45I fancy a massive...
33:47This is good!
33:49I don't want to see you here anymore.
33:51No, nor do I.
33:53I can't come back next week.
33:55I can't.
33:57I love you, Fred. Thank you.
33:59I think I've done better than last time.
34:01We seemed, yeah, a lot more similar.
34:03I'm not sure
34:05exactly what she thought.
34:07Have you been to Bath before?
34:09I went to Bath last week.
34:11Did you? Of course you did.
34:13Of course you did.
34:15Yeah.
34:17I can read a book,
34:19but a human?
34:21Where are the words?
34:23I don't think you should care about what people think.
34:25To an extent, maybe,
34:27but yeah.
34:29Not at all.
34:31We're all going to die one day, aren't we?
34:33Just be yourself. If people don't like it,
34:35that's their problem.
34:37Will you
34:39see each other again?
34:41I would very much like to see you again.
34:43I think I would love to see you again.
34:45I think you're really great
34:47and you're a lovely person.
34:49I think you're so funny.
34:51I just think, for me,
34:53I think it would be as friends.
34:55I'm sorry.
34:57We're going to go straight down the middle.
34:59It's just typical me.
35:01I just become really good friends with people
35:03that I go on dates with.
35:07Bye-bye.
35:09See you next week.
35:11I don't know what this spark is.
35:13I don't know what we're after.
35:15I'm thinking, what's this in?
35:17Do I have to light a lighter or something?
35:19I don't know.
35:21See you there, my friend.
35:23Take care. Much love.
35:25Thank you very much.
35:27I'm missing something,
35:29but we don't know what.
35:31There's something missing.
35:33Get home safe.
35:35You too. Take care.
35:37I'm still hopeful to find love.
35:39One of them's got to like me,
35:41or someone, surely.
35:43Come on.
35:53What's your usual type
35:55you normally go for?
35:57I've not really got a usual type.
35:59If you can get on, you can get on.
36:01The connection we have.
36:03I think that's what I'm more interested in.
36:05I'm not sure if you know, but I'm deaf.
36:07I don't know.
36:09Are you fully deaf?
36:11I'm fully deaf. I was born deaf.
36:13I went to a deaf school.
36:15It's never been so difficult to speak.
36:17Obviously, I'm not 100% perfect.
36:21You wouldn't think I'm deaf.
36:23No, absolutely not.
36:25Growing up in a hearing world,
36:27I have to rely on lip reading.
36:29It was tricky.
36:31Everyone speaks really fast.
36:33Some people mumble.
36:35I've spoken to a lot of speech therapists.
36:37Then when I got into deaf school,
36:39my speech got a lot better.
36:41I don't feel sorry for myself.
36:43I'm proud of who I am.
36:45But sometimes I fear what everyone thinks about me.
36:47Unfortunately, there are some people that
36:49when I say something, can you repeat
36:51what you said, they roll their eyes at me.
36:53Really?
36:55There are some people that will just walk away.
36:57On the nights out, when I meet them,
36:59they're sort of just like...
37:01That's shocking.
37:03Sometimes there's a part of me
37:05that's just sort of like...
37:07Will he judge me because I'm deaf?
37:09It does bring me down.
37:11That's why I just want someone patient
37:13and caring.
37:15If you need me to speak, you know,
37:17can I do anything else to make it easier?
37:19No.
37:23You're welcome at all.
37:25Sometimes people do like...
37:27Oh, can you teach me
37:29what swear words sound like?
37:31Swear words sound like...
37:35What's the sign language for that swear word?
37:47What do you do?
37:49I'm a photographer.
37:51Photographer in what?
37:53It's fitness and bodybuilding.
37:55I shoot a lot of people with guns.
37:57I like the muscle, yeah.
37:59I work a lot with women.
38:01Beautiful women.
38:03It can sometimes trigger insecurities,
38:05and it did
38:07in previous relationships.
38:09That's why having a partner
38:11that's complete and whole and secure
38:13within themselves, it's important.
38:15I arrived here to the UK,
38:17all by myself, at age 25.
38:19With a dream, with a vision,
38:21but not much of a plan.
38:23My first three years in the UK,
38:25I changed around 15 living addresses,
38:27probably 10 jobs.
38:29I was homeless twice.
38:31I slept in a gym, a 24-hour gym.
38:35I started my business two and a half years ago,
38:37literally, and I was broke before that.
38:39Nowadays,
38:41I'm in a good place financially,
38:43but also I feel complete.
38:45I feel like this is my time
38:47now to have
38:49that person to join me
38:51in this journey.
38:53You might be asking, what do you do?
38:55I work on Babestation.
38:57Adult channel.
39:01You know, like,
39:03call me!
39:05You do that?
39:07Oh, wow.
39:09I'm in the adult entertainment.
39:15It's better.
39:17Now you look like that receptionist,
39:19librarian, fetish thingy.
39:21That's what I do.
39:25I've got a dungeon.
39:27I own a dungeon.
39:29Say again?
39:31A dungeon.
39:51I've got a dungeon.
39:53I do dominatrix.
39:55I do foot worship.
39:57That's new to me. What is that?
39:59So people come over
40:01and worship my feet.
40:03It seems a lot of fun.
40:05I love it. I take all my anger out.
40:07Wow.
40:11So I've got a dungeon
40:13at the back of my dad's house.
40:17It's like a normal job,
40:19but to people it's taboo.
40:21Obviously you're offering a service here.
40:23Yes. Because you identified a gap in the market
40:25of people that need something
40:27and you provide it.
40:29It's never a boring day.
40:31I'm very flexible with my hours.
40:33Meeting new people.
40:35The money's good.
40:37I couldn't ask for a better job.
40:39Becca, you mind me ask you
40:41how old you are?
40:43How old are you?
40:45I'm 35. I'm 22.
40:47You're 22?
40:49I like mature guys.
40:51I don't know why I like older guys.
40:53Is that okay? I'm younger than you.
40:55You have this maturity
40:57to actually know how to look after yourself.
40:59Look, here you are standing tall.
41:01Otherwise you would not be who you are today.
41:15If you were going to an island all by yourself,
41:17what three things would you
41:19bring with you?
41:21A boat, a map
41:23and a bottle of water.
41:25Map, that's a good one.
41:27If you wanted to survive there,
41:29you'd have to be maybe like a lighter for a fire.
41:31You're thinking of survival.
41:33I'm just thinking, just live your life.
41:35Live your life, have a good time.
41:37Then a buddy, a box of beers
41:39and a cooler
41:41and some ice.
41:43The more I got to know him,
41:45the more I kind of like
41:47fancy him.
41:49I'm getting a bit
41:51lost now.
41:53You do look like a rugby guy.
41:55Is that a good thing?
41:57I've got big cauliflower ears already.
41:59Yeah, I like
42:01rugby. You're tall,
42:03you're very
42:05bustly, that's it.
42:09You all right? Yeah, not bad.
42:11Thanks.
42:13Hi there guys, I've just got your bill here.
42:15Do you want to pay in half? No, I'll get it, you're right.
42:17For sure? Yeah. I don't mind paying.
42:19No, no stress. Thank you.
42:21I've had a nice time, I've had a real nice time.
42:23Yeah, I'm having a great time.
42:25It's really nice.
42:29So,
42:31would you like to see each other again?
42:33Ladies first.
42:35I knew you'd say that.
42:37Yeah, I would like to see you again, yeah.
42:39Yeah, I think that
42:41like I say, your personality,
42:43the way it was easy
42:45going.
42:47Rock and roll.
42:49Ready to go. Get out of here.
42:51You were very caring,
42:53you were just really patient
42:55and then once I told you about my deafness
42:57you were just, you responded
42:59so nice.
43:03I wouldn't have thought that you were deaf
43:05when I first met you.
43:07I did come across as so confident as well.
43:09Don't bow my head, yeah, no.
43:11Just mind your head by the bottle.
43:13The way you spoke about just enjoying yourself
43:15and having fun, it's really refreshing
43:17and nice to speak to someone like that.
43:19You're actually so tall.
43:21A bit too nearly there.
43:23I need a helmet.
43:25You're good looking as well.
43:29Not too bad yourself.
43:33Can I ask you a question?
43:35Oh, what?
43:37Important information to know.
43:39Oh, what?
43:41Do you snore?
43:43Do I snore? No.
43:45I mean...
43:47You can laugh about it, but I think it's such
43:49an important information to know about a person.
43:51Think about it.
43:53You're meeting up the love of your life.
43:55You're having the best date ever.
43:57It comes down to your first night together
43:59and then you suddenly...
44:01Who's that?
44:03How did I end up here?
44:07Hi.
44:09How are you doing?
44:11How are you doing?
44:13Good, good.
44:19Ma chérie.
44:25Are you going to see each other again?
44:27Um...
44:29Yeah, I don't know.
44:31I wouldn't say romantically.
44:33No, not romantically, no.
44:35How are we doing this?
44:37No.
44:39My mum raised a good boy, so...
44:41Aw, thank you.
44:43Something tells me
44:45we're slightly in different paths at the moment.
44:47Yeah, I didn't get the spark.
44:49Exactly.
44:51You are an exceptional person,
44:53I'll tell you that.
44:55Thank you. I do try.
44:57You have that sort of innocence in you that I adore a lot.
44:59Innocence, where?
45:01I wish.
45:03Lovely to meet you.
45:05Bye-bye.
45:07Do you want to go to the dungeon?
45:09Oh, do I want to be a client?
45:11Yeah. I'll give you a friend and family discount.
45:15Muah.
45:17Take care.
45:19See you.
45:29You need to try a Scotch egg.
45:31OK, all right, I'll hold you to that.
45:45I think if we are going to go, we're going to have to get a dog.
45:47OK.
45:49Also, to see if my dog likes you.
45:51Yeah, well, you did say he likes men, don't you?
45:53So I should go, all right?
46:01There's Tyrone.
46:03Look at her go.
46:05Oh, I really want to meet Tyrone.
