DoorDash has agreed to pay nearly $17 million in restitution after it was found to have used customer tips to subsidize delivery workers’ wages in New York. The company used tips to offset its contributions to the guaranteed amount instead of allowing Dashers to keep tips on top of their guaranteed pay. This practice misled customers and deprived workers of their full earnings. DoorDash stated that the pay model in question is no longer in use.
