A Wall Street Journal analysis found that the Department of Government Efficiency's Claim that it saved $55 billion in federal spending is overstated. The DOGE website claimed $7 billion in savings from over 1,000 canceled contracts, but a Wall Street Journal analysis estimated actual savings closer to over $2 billion, with only 2% related to DEI. Some contracts were double-counted, and many savings were calculated based on unused contract limits rather than actual expenditures. Over 25% of the contracts had already been fully paid, providing no savings.
