00:00I just want to stay with Riyadh for a little bit longer though and ask you whether this knowledge of the Middle East and this experience of the Middle East is something that's new to President Trump or whether it's something that, you know, looking through your book which starts in Queens in New York where President Trump grew up, whether there was some exposure to the Middle East at an early stage in his life.
00:23Well he had exposure in two ways to the Middle East early on. One was it's really how he formed a lot of his formative political opinions because he rose in his real estate career and business career right after the OPEC oil boycott and the inflation crisis of the 1970s and so he had a lot of perspectives about how to deal with the Middle East, with Gulf leaders, etc.
00:49He was also very much close to the 9-11 attacks and the response to that in terms of rebuilding New York. So in that sense politically that affected him and then of course a lot of the tenants of his towers, particularly Trump Tower, also came from this region in the 1980s.
01:08So he's been very familiar with figures in and out of the various Gulf countries and of course Saudi Arabia for quite some time.
01:16So he's been very familiar with him.
