00:00We'll yield three minutes to our friend, Mr. Ben Klein from Virginia.
00:04Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I'm going to respectfully disagree with my friend and colleague from California.
00:10This bill puts us on path to fiscal responsibility.
00:15This bill reverses the spending sprees of the Democrats over the last four years.
00:23This bill right-sizes a bloated bureaucracy.
00:26This bill reigns in mandatory spending.
00:30And there are many wins that should be commended within this bill that will provide Americans with the tax certainty that will lead to stronger investment and greater economic growth.
00:42This includes making the TCJA's individual tax rates permanent so that no one should have to worry about a tax hike unless the Democrats are the ones imposing it on the American people.
00:53Additionally, this bill includes provisions that will prevent blue states from laundering your tax dollars to subsidize the health care of able-bodied adults and those who are here illegally.
01:03This strengthens Medicaid to ensure that health care is available to those who are actually in need, such as children, the elderly, and disabled populations.
01:10This package will also decrease the deficit by roughly $160 billion and reduce the debt-to-GDP ratio by 10 percentage points compared to the CBO baseline.
01:21This is a great bill.
01:24However, I think it's important to acknowledge that in the midst of the marathon markups and all the hard work that has been done, there are still many viable fiscal reforms that have been left on the cutting room floor.
01:35This would include fiscal provisions to strengthen Second Amendment protections for Americans by eliminating the federal tax burden associated with suppressors and remove it from the National Firearms Act.
01:46But there are many others that I won't mention, but there are many others that I won't mention.
01:50Instead, today we'll focus on the positives.
01:54We've got an amazing piece of legislation here that is going to do so much for the American people and putting our country on the right course fiscally.
02:05So, by passing this bill, we say that we still have the opportunity to shepherd it through the process, continue to work on improvements, and ensure that we will deliver the strongest results for our constituents back home.
02:19I thank the chair for all his work, thank the vice chair for all his work, and for all those on the committee, and I yield back.
02:26I thank the gentleman.
