00:00i'm starting mine so we're both doing it this is like the matrix we're both like interviewing each
00:06other so joe what um you know obviously tell me why you're involved with this year's show
00:13what's actually happening so um i'm a farmer from south yorkshire and i've got a youtube channel
00:19um and tiktok as well and you guys sort of wanted me in on doing a bit of filming around the show
00:27and the behind the scenes they've run up to it yeah yeah you've joined our presenting team because
00:32myself duncan ward and john mitchell are doing this behind the scenes youtube channel and joe is our
00:38fellow presenter this year so we're having some fun though aren't we yeah it's like um i mean you guys
00:45are all friends already you're all friends and i feel like i've just been let into this little friend
00:49group oh you're very welcome you're very welcome now tell me a little bit about what you normally
00:55do because when your youtube channel and your tick tock you've got how many thousand followers
01:00um so i think on tick tock we're about 65 000 and youtube at 30 000. and how did it all start
01:06um i mean it was probably about three and a half years ago something like that my friend had used
01:12the app to make a this is tick tock app to make a short video about his christmas tree and it sort of
01:18like flipped and it all looked really edited and fantastic i thought i want to have a little play on
01:23that so anyway i got the app downloaded it did some bits around the farm and people started watching
01:29it and i'm like well okay well we'll carry on with this and the next thing we've got a youtube channel
01:34and then just blew up and you basically every day you just talk to people about your life on the farm
01:41don't you yeah yeah where is your farm um so we're in south yorkshire in between barnesley and doncaster
01:47and yeah it's just anything that happens in the day goes into the video so the the start of the day
01:53is in the morning so i say morning to everybody at the start and that's become a catch for us
02:01so that's the start of every video that's the start of every video and it just goes on in time
02:05order through the day of whatever i'm doing so that could be feeding and bedding down the cows to um
02:12drilling being on the combine harvester um or being at an event like this today yeah different every
02:18day what is the attraction do you think why are people fascinated by simply watching your daily life
02:25i think there's been like a an increase in interest in farming um recently especially with the clarkson's
02:32farm coming out um i think the general public want to know about farming but there's a lot of people
02:36that have been in the industry and our fond memories have been in it and maybe left and so i get a lot
02:42of older viewers actually who watch the channel and um yeah it's like reminiscent of their past but
02:50they can see the the future that agriculture is i suppose you stride both worlds you're part of the
02:57tradition because your family are farmers aren't they but you're also looking ahead and one of the things
03:02you do is you're looking at all the new machinery and the new innovations that are coming along and
03:08telling us all about it that really excites me so um what i did about four or five years ago was my
03:14made my own tractor i didn't make the tractor but i made it steer itself made it made it steer itself
03:21with like um chinese parts there was like a land rover suspension sensor was part of it and then it was
03:26talking to the satellite and this other thing and um it did it so john deere and all the the the big
03:33manufacturers and do it but i'd got it with this open source piece of software and we managed to make
03:39this track to steer itself which was which was fantastic and i just thought the innovation in
03:45agriculture we need to get more young people who are excited about tech to come into agriculture yeah yeah
03:51and and i think sometimes it can feel like um being a being a farmer might be sort of the uh
04:00the the the thing to do if you didn't do very well at school right no it means for everybody yeah
04:05you've got to know your stuff now haven't you as well it's a different world and a lot of young
04:10people are getting very interested in it isn't it lovely behind us we've got the great york the main ring
04:16here and and we're in the presidents in pavilions in the president suite aren't we and it's so quiet
04:22now that will look completely different on july the 8th because it's july the 8th to the 11th isn't
04:28it yes yeah what are you most looking forward to about it um the busyness of course is is fantastic but
04:36i always like just in the background this way that's where all the machinery is oh that's where
04:42all the machinery all on that side that's where it is hey i never noticed those houses there before
04:47you won't see them because there's just that much big kit like yeah but they've got a real they don't
04:51need to buy a ticket i've never thought about that but you do have to buy a ticket online because you
04:58can only buy tickets in advance you can't buy at the door always sell out as well always sell out so
05:05if anyone wants to go on the 8th to the 11th of july then get your tickets now there's lots happening
