Donald Trump Mocks Europe for Celebrating the End of WWII: 'We're the Ones That Won the War'

President Donald Trump is continuing his campaign to claim victory in World War II for the United States alone. While addressing U.S. troops at Al Udeid Air Base in Doha, Qatar, on Thursday, May 15, Trump, 78, spoke about his recent executive order declaring that May 8 is now a national holiday: Victory Day for World War II.

00:00And the fact is Russia was celebrating, France was celebrating, everybody was celebrating but us.

00:06And we're the ones that won the war. We won the war. I'd call up a certain country and they said,

00:12oh, we're celebrating the victory of World War II today, sir. Oh, really? I'd speak to one of the

00:20presidents or prime ministers or whatever, and they were so busy. Oh, yes, we're celebrating

00:27the victory of World War II. Then I'd speak to another one that they were celebrating.

00:32And the fact is Russia was celebrating, France was celebrating, everybody was celebrating but us.

00:38And we're the ones that won the war. We won the war.

00:47And they helped. But without us, they don't win the war. We're all speaking German.

00:52You know that, right? Without us, they're speaking German, maybe a little Japanese, too.

00:59We won the war. And we're the only ones that didn't celebrate. So what I did

01:04is I got my crack staff over there. And we did it every time. We have May 8th. And we also have

01:11the date in November, that sacred date in November for World War I, because we won that war, too.

01:16But think of it. I'm calling. Now, we love France, right? But I think we did a little more to win

01:23the war than France did. Do we agree? You know, I don't want to be a wise guy.
