00:00There is a lot of underlying complexity to these things.
00:03What about putting the Navy in the channel?
00:04I mean, look.
00:05Would you like to do that?
00:06And this is where you have to discuss and look at exactly how that would work,
00:09because, you know, warships are very high.
00:12How do you block a boat?
00:14It's not quite as simple as that.
00:16You know, you're putting people potentially at risk.
00:17You said nothing is off the table, but now leaving the ECHR is off the table.
00:21Deploying the Navy is off the table.
00:22I'm not saying that, you know, military deployments are necessarily off the table.
00:26It's not something I've had from the Home Office.
00:28But all of these things, I expect...
00:31I bet you the voters in Blover would like to see that,
00:33but I bet your constituents tell you that all the time, don't they?
00:35But it has to work.
00:36And this is where I'm really clear to my constituents.
00:40I said this months ago to yourself, Martin,
00:42that people that have this concern are completely valid.
00:46We hear that.
00:47We've said from the beginning that we're looking to secure the borders.
00:50We wouldn't accept 30,000 a year smashing through the barriers at Heathrow,
00:55and therefore we will not accept the small boats issue.
00:59It is a security issue, and we've got to treat it like that.
01:02And I see that's exactly where we're going as a party.
01:05But, of course, these things take time.
01:07There's diplomatic talks.
01:08There's process that needs to go through.
01:10And often there's not a running commentary on that.
01:12OK, well, let's have a look.
01:13Now, I believe we do have those videos that Mark White got us, more exclusives.
01:17Let's have a look at these videos.
01:18These are videos that have been sent to Mark White from a source.
01:21These are of asylum seekers who've landed in Britain.
01:25And look, they've been given head-to-toe new outfits.
01:28Union Jack T-shirts looking every part like a tourist on a day trip.
01:33All paid for by British taxpayers.
01:35Here we go, look, dancing away in a hotel room provided by you,
01:39playing with whatever he's doing there.
01:41He's got his Union Jack T-shirt on.
01:43Obviously, living the life of Variety.
01:45Delighted to be in Britain.
01:47Patrick Christie's was over there.
01:49Mike Tapp you'd have seen a couple of days ago.
01:51There's an endless conveyor belt of these military-aged young men coming to Britain.
01:55And this is where British taxpayers' money is going.
01:58Hotel rooms, T-shirts, they're dancing.
02:01They're laughing at British taxpayers, Mike.
02:04And this is why it's so important that we bring these crossings down
02:07and secure the border.
02:09You know, it's costing the taxpayer a lot of money.
02:11Our country is a laughingstock, Mike Tapp.
02:13Look at this.
02:14I mean, actually, looking at the report you had on before around Sky Satellite and gaming, etc.,
02:21these public sector contracts are often ridiculously overinflated and shouldn't cost that much.
02:27And, you know, I've no doubt that the Home Office are looking at savings along the way.
02:31But, look, we have to bring those numbers down.
02:33We're working very hard at it.
02:34We're deporting and removing record numbers.
02:37And that will continue.
02:38Mike, when you look at videos like this on your screen,
02:40when you look at the numbers, 12,700 so far,
02:44previous government also, let's be honest, made a complete dog's dinner of this.
02:48Do you think the electorate looks at this and just think,
02:50nobody listens to the voters, nothing is changing,
02:55all we ever hear is tough talks, return hubs, Rwanda deals, nothing happens.
03:00Do you think the electorate are just thinking, do you know what,
03:02we don't trust any of you anymore?
03:03Well, look, I mean, that lad who's having a bit of fun there,
03:06I don't know him.
03:07I don't know his story.
03:08I'm glad he's wearing a British flag, by the way.
03:10I think we should have more flags flying around the country.
03:13But this whole problem does need to be fixed.
03:16And we have inherited open borders, a difficult, complex issue to get on top of.
03:22And when the Conservatives talk about what they would do,
03:25they had 14 years to do that.
03:26We saw in, you know, 2018, 400 cross and over 150,000 since.
03:31It's a complex issue.
03:32But the viewers have my absolute word that this is a top priority for this government,
03:37a top priority for Keir Starmer and for Yvette Cooper.
