Pembrokeshire officially has the best beaches in the country - after sweeping up at the 2025 Wales Coast Awards!
Wales’ leading environmental charity, Keep Wales Tidy, has announced the 2025 Wales Coast Awards, with beaches across Wales recognised for high environmental standards, meeting tough water quality targets and delivering high standards of environmental education.
And of the 49 awards presented to beaches across Wales, 17 are in Pembrokeshire – more than in any other part of Wales.
This includes 10 of Wales’ 21 Blue Flag Award beaches, with Tenby’s South and North beaches, Poppit Sands and Broadhaven North among those recognised, along with Newgale, Dale, Whitesands and Coppet Hall.
Both Saundersfoot and Tenby Castle are celebrating an impressive 25th years of the Blue Flag Award, while all the beaches have retained their award from last year.
The Blue Flag Award is recognised internationally, recognising high standards for environmental quality, safety, and environmental management. Awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, a blue flag means the beach or marina is clean, safe, and well-managed, promoting sustainability and attracting visitors.
Pembrokeshire also has the most Green Coast Award beaches in Wales, with seven of the 13 locations receiving the award located here.
Green Coast Award beaches are the ‘hidden gems’ of the Welsh coastline, boasting unspoilt beauty, high environmental standards, and excellent water quality.
Aberiddy, Freshwater East, Manorbier, Penally, Caerfai, Druidsone, and West Angle Bay all retain their status of being exceptional places to visit.
