A resident living along a busy stretch of road near Bridgnorth has made an urgent call for a speed reduction over concerns for his safety.
Chris Flavell says he would have "never" purchased his home off the B4176 in Hilton if he knew what the road was like, claiming there is a fatal accident "waiting to happen".

00:00So, Chris, we'll try and hear you over the sound of the car's zooming past. Just fill us in on who you are, where we are, and what the issue is here, chap.
00:18Hi, I'm Chris. The issue here is, as you can see, how close our drive is to this main road. It's a B road, and yet we've got people coming down here at all sorts of speeds that are overtaking. The bottom's out here. We've just witnessed a car overtaking another one. So, how would you like to pull off this drive onto this oncoming traffic? It's frightening.
00:42That's it. I mean, like you say, we've literally, a car's just come past us, just hasn't it, overtaking another one just right outside the drive here, where you come out, you look to your left, you look to your right before you pull out, but you can only see so far, really, the way the road is.
00:56And, yeah, if they're coming out at the speeds we've seen them, I mean, the one chap in a Beamer there, he was flooring it, wasn't he, just coming past. Sadly, I didn't have any video on.
01:06So, what is it you'd like to see done, Chris?
01:10Well, what we're campaigning for, and we really need, in the name of health and safety, is a speed reduction.
01:17Yeah.
01:18Just, along the sides of these drives, to give us a chance, not only for the three drives here I'm talking about, but people coming in and out of that junction there.
01:25Well, yeah, there's a number of houses down that lane there, isn't there?
01:28They have the same problem. They have to, virtually, wheel speed up, to get out safely.
01:33Yeah, yeah.
01:34It's terrible. I think it's a small ask, you know, to make the place a little bit more safer.
01:41Yeah, so some kind of, for this section here, where you've got the residential properties pulling out, and, you know, the visibility is a little bit restricted.
01:50Something, something just to slow them down in this section.
01:52Absolutely, yes.
01:53You've, you know, you've done your best so far, but it seems to be falling upon deaf ears. You're just getting the answer of what?
01:59It does, yes.
02:00I don't think they're taking the issue seriously. It seems to be getting brushed on the top, with the people who need to make decisions.
02:06Yeah.
02:07I mean, it's frightening. It really is frightening at times. And a main concern is, when a tanker comes down here, and hits this about 70 mile an hour,
02:19and not only does it wrap all the house, shakes the foundations at all hours of the night, this is not just in the day, it's 24 hours a day.
02:27Yeah.
02:27Yeah.
02:27Erm, I've obviously got a good turn for the, er, building, fabric of, er, of our house.
02:34Yeah, yeah.
02:34Erm, it's not only that, I mean, if you lose this control here, it's going to take off our house, isn't it?
02:38Yeah.
02:38If we're in that side of the house, it could be fatal.
02:41Yeah, yeah.
02:42Older's wagon.
02:43Let's just see how close he comes past.
02:46That's...
02:46Whoa, well, yeah.
02:51I mean, I can feel that wind just, you know, blowing me about.
02:55Yeah.
02:55So, yeah, and obviously, you know, they're conscious as a bloke here with a camera, so they're going to, you know...
03:01Slow.
03:01Yeah, yeah, I mean, yeah, I can really see how you'd feel that inside as well.
03:05So, you've not lived here too long.
03:07It must be making you up and are about whether you've done the right thing.
03:10Most certainly, yeah.
03:12Yeah, yeah.
03:12Yeah.
03:13Yeah.
03:14So, like, you said, you know, really, it should be a fairly simple fix.
03:18I mean, the council are coming back and saying, oh, we haven't got any money, but, you know, you're not asking for a road diversion.
03:26Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:27We're asking for a camera and a couple of speed signs.
03:30Yeah.
03:30So, we're just catching a few of the cars going past there, Chris, and we can see at this point how close the house is to the road.
03:36One of the things the council said is that they haven't got any money for even signs to be put up.
03:41But you're so passionate, you offered to pay for the signs.
03:43We have indeed, yes.
03:44We've even offered to, we've asked on three occasions if we could finance our own signs and put them up ourselves, and the answer was no.
03:52The first two requests fell on deaf ears.
03:55We'd never had an answer, and the third time I put in an email that can we put our own signs up, and we still know.
04:02Yeah, yeah.
04:02We'll see you next time.
