Jalpaiguri, West Bengal: Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning hit several areas of Jalpaiguri district early Wednesday morning, as predicted by the Meteorological Department. The storm uprooted multiple trees, causing disruptions in daily life and power cuts in many places. While the rain brought much-needed relief from the recent heatwave, it also caused inconvenience due to storm-related damage. The weather department had earlier issued alerts for thunderstorms and rainfall in North Bengal districts, including North Dinajpur, Cooch Behar, and Jalpaiguri.
