During remarks on the Senate floor Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) spoke about President Trump's business deals with Gulf States.
Transcript
00:01As disturbing as this latest news about a Guattari Air Force One is, it is frankly just the tip of the iceberg.
00:10For months, Guattari and other Gulf state nationals have spent billions on deals with the Trump organizations,
00:17seemingly to buy access to the president, including a $2 billion from the UAE venture capital firm for Donald Trump's new stablecoin,
00:27including the launch of a new Trump hotel in Dubai, worth over a billion dollars,
00:35and the construction of a beachside golf course in Gutter, potentially worth $5 billion.
00:42Donald Trump's business deals in the Middle East reek of crooked self-enrichment.
00:48He isn't just blurring the line between public service and personal profit.
00:52He's erasing it.
00:54This isn't speculation, it's fact, backed by overwhelming evidence.
00:59He is jeopardizing America's national security to line his own pockets.
01:04What is most chilling about this brazen bribe and the national security betrayal is how openly Donald Trump is doing it.
01:12How he is lying about the need for this aircraft and the risks involved.
01:16And how he is daring Republicans to call him out.
01:21And how are Republicans responding?
01:24With silence.
01:26With their heads in the sand.
01:28Total obeisance.
01:29Afraid to tell the emperor he has no clothes.
01:34Well, Republicans may be too scared to stand up to Donald Trump,
01:37but I will keep pushing and Senate Democrats will keep pushing
01:41to get more answers to this nakedly crooked arrangement with Qatar.
01:46Until the American people learn the truth about this deal,
01:50I will do my part to block the galling and truly breathtaking politicization
01:55at the Department of Justice.
01:58Thank you very much.
