00:00How do you feel after running today's breakfast run?
00:04There's always a bit of a relief I suppose
00:07because I've not been sleeping very well
00:09I thought I'd use it as a cure for the insomnia
00:12so yeah, I think it's paid off today
00:15but the weather was very hot
00:18but the crowd, I couldn't believe the crowd
00:20the amount of noise that was around
00:22the dirt track towards the finish
00:24it was just amazing
00:26yeah, really, second to none the atmosphere in these events
00:30just really love it
00:31It's a bit hot for this time of year
00:34it's a bit humid out there
00:36but the crowds definitely push you through
00:40so yeah, it's a good environment, good atmosphere
00:43and now time to enjoy the day
00:45Yeah, a little bit tired now
00:47legs are feeling it a bit
00:49but yeah, I feel pleased
00:51and I know it feels good later on today
00:54good, by 10k I was ready for it to be done
00:57it's very warm out there
00:58but the crowds got me through
01:00the atmosphere was amazing
01:02and what's the biggest channel?
01:04It was quite like up and down a bit off the course
01:08and I think just the heat to be honest
01:11but the water stations, the shower stations were amazing
01:14and the crowds got me through
01:16it was over before I knew it
01:18I'd say it's probably the tight turns
01:21and the dirt track at the end I think
01:24which really slowed me down really
01:26and I'm a cross country runner but
01:28I think towards the end of the race
01:31that's a really hard place to put a dirt track
01:35so yeah
01:37The challenge was probably
01:39there's a lot of tight turns yeah
01:40especially like after the third mile
01:43I think yeah after about 5k
01:45it turns a lot
01:46out by Castle Park there
01:48and in the back of
01:50going over almost to Redcliffe
01:53there's a lot of tight turns
01:54it's kind of a bit tough to navigate
01:55especially when you're running behind somebody
01:57so you just have to navigate that
01:58but you know
01:59stay on your feet
02:00and you'll be alright
02:01The challenge I'd say was the heat
02:02it's put on every other half marathon I did
02:05I thought I'd kicked on a little bit too early
02:08and I thought the heat was going to catch up with me
02:10but
02:11yeah I held on
02:12and
02:13yeah
02:14managed to do all the heat
02:16and what was the most satisfying thing?
02:18well the most satisfying thing was sort of the last K
02:21when I knew I had it
02:22I kind of knew I had it wrapped up by that point
02:24I could enjoy it
02:25and I could really
02:26soak in the crowd
02:27soak in the atmosphere
02:28and it was great all the way out there
02:30but
02:31it wasn't until the final K
02:32that I could really appreciate it
02:34and
02:35yeah and enjoy it
02:36and yeah just thank you to everyone out there
02:37it was really
02:38really great experience
02:39great atmosphere
02:40the fact that
02:41yeah
02:42I did it against the odds today
02:44unlimited sleep
02:45been sleeping only
02:47a couple of hours every night
02:49for the last 10 days
02:50so
02:51yeah
02:52a lot of anxiety
02:53I'm not sure why
02:55but yeah
02:56yeah
02:57I think that's the main thing really
02:58that I've done this against the odds
03:00and I'm priding myself
03:01putting myself out there
03:02well it could have gone either way really
03:04I think honestly the crowds
03:06just hearing all my friends and family
03:08in the crowds
03:09was great
03:10it's my home run
03:11I've never done it before
03:12so yeah it was a great event
03:13um
03:14probably finishing
03:15yeah finishing
03:16no but
03:17I think just enjoying it
03:18from the moment the gun went off
03:19I was just having fun
03:20taking in the atmosphere
03:22taking in the crowds
03:23and yeah
03:24just finishing first
03:25was
03:26probably the most enjoyable
03:27yeah
03:28and
03:29what advice would you give
03:31to those who are planning
03:32to run the 2026
03:34great Bristol run
03:35yeah I'd say
03:36you don't want to start
03:37no it was a bit too early
03:38but definitely
03:39enjoy the summer
03:40and then when the summer
03:41once is over
03:42start putting in the miles
03:43it's a good event
03:44a lot of money raised for charity
03:46good vibes all around
03:47like
03:48you know running is good for you
03:49physically mentally
03:50so I encourage anybody
03:51whether you want to be the world's best
03:52or just
03:53you just want a complete one mile
03:54just go for it
03:55set your mind for it
03:57yeah
03:58definitely say
03:59it's got a lot of variety
04:00and there's something for everyone
04:02and
04:03yeah if you like
04:04the hills
04:05there's hills in it
04:06there's a few cobbles
04:07yeah I think
04:08it's a very interesting course really
04:10lots of landmarks
04:11so I definitely recommend it
04:12it's one of the more interesting courses
04:14definitely
04:16I'd just stick at it
04:17keep consistent
04:18and
04:19yeah
04:20I mean
04:21I'm sure everyone's capable of doing it
04:22it's a challenge
04:23but it's hard for all of us
04:24and
04:25yeah just stick to your training plan
04:26and
04:27enjoy race day
04:28I guess
04:29that's when
04:30when all the training comes together
04:31and you can really
04:32really enjoy that hard work you put in
04:34soak it up
04:35even if you've not done the training
