Transcript
00:00The most affordable towns for families across England, Wales and Scotland are being revealed
00:05by Zoopla.
00:06The property website looked at the average cost of a three-bedroom home in towns across
00:10the country to work out the ratio of house prices to average household income in those
00:16towns.
00:17The 30% of towns with the lowest price-to-earning ratio in each region were chosen, and they
00:23were ranked according to popularity based on the number of views per Zoopla listing
00:28for a typical three-bed home in each area.
00:30Glen Rhodes in Scotland came out as the most popular affordable place for families overall,
00:36with an average three-bed home there priced at £136,900 and the average income for full-time
00:43owners being £78,200 for two full-time owners.
00:48The analysis follows a survey commissioned by Zoopla which found that more than a third
00:52of adults were not confident they could afford their ideal family home location, meaning many
00:57people are having to look elsewhere for more affordable options.
01:02Those willing to move to find a cheaper home said they'd be willing to move on average 41
01:08minutes away.
