00:00Kenya and the Dominican Republic on Monday signed an agreement that will

00:06bolster support for the Kenyan police deployed in Haiti. The deal was signed by

00:10the Dominican Foreign Minister Bartolavares and Kenya's first cabinet

00:14secretary and foreign secretary Monsala Mudavadi and will see Kenyan police

00:18receive both medical and repartition support in case of emergencies. The deal

00:23will help Kenyan police participating in a UN-backed multinational security

00:27mission, if acquit, whether wounded or diseased. Haiti's national police boastered

00:32by a UN-backed mission led by the Kenyan police has struggled in its fight against

00:36gangs as the mission remains underfunded and understaffed with only a thousand

00:41personnel of the 2,500 envisioned. Kenyan police have constantly come under

00:46attack with a few casualties reported. Gangs that control at least 85 percent of

00:51Port-au-Prince have launched recent attacks on previously peaceful areas that police
