00:00Former Penang Deputy Chief Minister Tu, Dr P. Ramasamy is expected to be charged with
00:07alleged abuse of power. According to his lawyer Shamsher Singh Thind, Ramasamy will be charged
00:13at the Butterworth Sessions Court on Wednesday under Section 23, subsection 1 of the M.A.C.C.
00:20Act, 2009. Ramasamy was called in for questioning by the M.A.C.C. at 10 a.m. on Monday. However,
00:29specific details of the charge have not been disclosed. He was previously barred from leaving
00:34the country in December last year. Shortly after, he voluntarily presented himself at the Penang M.A.C.C.
00:42office in connection with alleged irregularities involving the purchase of a chariot by the Penang
00:48Hindu Endowment Board, an organization he chaired. Ramasamy was Batukawan MP from 2008 to 2013
00:57and three-term Prime Assemblyman from 2008, but was not chosen as a candidate for the 2023 state
01:04election. He quit D.A.P. shortly after.
