00:00There's been an heightened increase in EFCC's approach to clamp down on Naira abuse, particularly in Nigeria's party celebration, what we tag as money spread, and this could actually land you in EFCC's cell.
00:18They tag this as Naira abuse, and not just Naira, even foreign currencies. Recently, we have seen notable people being arrested for such acts. Now, we're going to be going down the street of Lagos asking people, can this act of spraying money in Nigerian parties actually stop based on the fact that EFCC now clamps down on this, tagging it Naira abuse.
00:44And according to them, if you spray money anyhow in the party, either Naira or dollar, you have actually abused the currency, which is against the law.
00:56We're going to be asking the people of Lagos what they feel and their opinion about this. Is it a wasteful heart or they feel it is a cultural attitude or tradition that might not be stopped evil by this recent clampdown by EFCC?
01:14It's not even normal. It's not even normal. When they are getting married to their own mother, they are getting married to their own father. They are spreading a lot of money then.
01:28Even up to this moment, in their own party, they spend dollars, they spread dollars, they spread everything. I haven't heard, I haven't heard that this is Yabo Joe, this is a female Yoruba artist.
01:41On a daughter's wedding day, after the wedding day, after the wedding day, they went back as well to go and arrest her.
01:48EFCC, why they don't arrest Yaya Belu? Why they don't arrest Yaya Belu? Why they don't arrest Yaya Belu? Why they don't arrest Yaya Belu? Why they don't arrest Yaya Belu?
01:55Although, when they spray money, throw money to everywhere. So, the Apache, if you don't know anybody in this country, forgets.
02:03Look at Jesus, the poor people. If you are connected to God, okay, look, let me give you one sample.
02:13Okay, somebody is spraying money, they are arresting him. Somebody is holding life-less hand and leg.
02:22Why can't you take one arrest that person? And they don't arrest Bokwala.
02:26To be candid with you, it is a wasteful act. Because, when you see people spraying money in the public, invariably, you are telling the youth that they must get money by all means.
02:42You make people feel that without money, you are not anybody. And that we make people to go and look for money by all means.
02:49Unfortunately, we have a faulty economy. We have a faulty nation. We are money is everything.
02:59And remember the Bible said, the love of money is the root of all evil.
03:04So, when people begin to look at people throwing money in the public, it pushes them to want to get money by all means.
03:12And that is why we are seeing more of ritual, killing, kidnapping, and all that that you can see.
03:20Why? Because everybody wants to compete. Everybody wants to measure up.
03:24So, to me, it is good to stop the idea of spraying money in the public.
03:30You see, my beloved, I have to tell you something. Some people did it and they were arrested.
03:35And some people did it and they were not arrested.
03:38Remember, in the country, like I said, we have a faulty country.
03:42The law is meant for some people.
03:46In our country, it is meant for some people.
03:48There is something you will do now. I am saying this.
03:51Maybe it will go on the air. There is something you will do now as a sultanate.
03:54You will be arrested and you go to prison.
03:57And a sultanate will do it and go free.
03:59So, what do you do? You have to be very careful.
04:01Because it happened that I saw a sultanate carrying dagger.
04:05They carried guns all about.
04:07And nothing is happening to them.
04:08But you a sultanate, if you carry it, then you go to prison.
04:11So, you have to be careful.
04:13You have to know where you belong.
04:15So that someone did it and he was allowed to go stop free, it's not enough for you to do it.
04:21So, we have to be very careful knowing the country where we belong.
04:24So, evil is evil.
04:26No matter who is doing it.
04:27If you like, let him be the president that's ruling this country today.
04:31If he does evil, it is evil.
04:33Nobody may arrest him, nobody will judge him, but God in heaven will judge him.
04:38Well, you called it abuse already.
04:41So, but I will not say it's an abuse if it is being regulated.
04:45If the way they spray it, like they do nowadays, because they now arrest people for it,
04:51they do nowadays, they now spray it in a bag.
04:56So, that is still like, something like a regulation.
05:00So, if it's been regulated, I don't see it as an abuse.
05:02And it's a cultural thing.
05:04It has been with us for a long time now.
05:07So, even the people that are arresting people for it today, they've indulged in it before.
05:11They've done it before.
05:12Nobody would say that they've never done it.
05:16So, I feel that some people are also being targeted.
05:21Then, because of that now, people are refraining from doing it.
05:24And some are doing it codedly, while some are doing it in bags.
05:28So, I feel it should be regulated.
05:29It should not be canceled.
05:30Let's not deceive ourselves.
05:32It cannot stop.
05:33Because people will still be doing it, but they can regulate it.
05:36They can do it in a way that it will not turn to Naira abuse.
05:39Yes, you have heard it all from Nigeria.
05:42Their opinion and view about this particular topic that we have asked earlier.
05:47Do you think the Naira spending in Nigerian parties is a cultural tradition that cannot be stopped?
05:53Or it is a wasteful hat that indeed justifies the approach of the EFCC?
05:59The question remains that the disparities in the arrest is what is posing the question in the heart of many.
06:06Why is it that some set of people are targeted or been arrested allegedly?
06:10Why some, on the other way around, are not arrested?
06:14This remains the bone of contention in the minds of Nigerians.
06:19And I must tell you, as it stands, it is a log ahead from what we have.
06:24Some people believe, yes, of course, it is a wasteful hat.
06:27Why some people also see it as a targeted mist towards some set of people?
06:31Because we have seen some clips, all right, on the internet of some particular set of people doing the same thing.
06:36And, you know, nothing has been done.
06:38We are going to leave the rest to you down in the comment section.
06:41Let us have your opinion on what you also think about this.
06:44Do you think that spending of Naira or even dollars in Nigerian parties can actually stop?
06:49Or do you see it as a wasteful hat of show of, you know, influence and half-lens?
06:54That will be the size of our package today on Guardian Report.
06:57I am Moluka de Olumuiwa.
06:58And we'll see you next time.
