00:00a lot of people didn't see that song get made but we made the song it was me and
00:05kyle rich and then randomly nly chopper walked in the room while i was live and he was like
00:12he's like oh i'm just saying what's up and then i was like man drop a verse man you
00:17hit yeah he ended up hopping in the booth dropping a verse and at first my chat didn't like the song
00:23once again it's the audits he check in my name is dj buck along with my man big reg and we've got a
00:31special guest with us today ddg's in the building what's going on how you feeling man sup man living
00:37good feeling good how's the run going the album's out now yeah how's how's it going so far is it what
00:42you expected this first few days i was going great everybody likes it i've been getting a lot of great
00:48feedback from supporters peers other artists so it's dope blame the chat man you had a um leading
00:56up this album you had this this twitch that went on for uh it was a long time how'd you pull that off man
01:02i don't know man i ain't gonna lie like once you get into like the stream and stuff you kind of
01:07get used to it you know you kind of develop like a relationship with the with the um viewers but
01:14they're always watching you are you ever worried about what they may see or you are you conscious
01:19of what you're doing i mean you know nah i think i think everybody that watches me is is watching me
01:26for a positive reason so you know it's like just kicking it with your homies for real so doing it
01:31that long did you ever just like forget that uh you were live or the camera's running just doing things
01:38because the human aspect kicks in it's like okay i've been doing this so long i just forgot about that
01:44yeah like even sometimes like when i um like even now when i get off of live and out the camera not
01:52on i wake up thinking i'm on camera still you think it's still on yeah it's like that um the truman show
01:59i did that's a great show okay yeah so it's something like that during this during the stream
02:05you had a lot of artists come through yeah um ty dollar sign came through yeah and he made a song right
02:12there first thing he said when he walked in like where's all the ladies at man where were the ladies
02:15at in the room man it was spread around the house man they was around and it was there though for sure
02:21how was that feeling when ty stepped in and you started working on music how'd that feel
02:25it was good man me and me and ty always been cool um i actually made a song with him in like
02:312018 2019 or something it just never came out but he was one of the first artists that like reached out
02:39and like oh let's make some music and it's before i started like streaming for real so now you're
02:44originally from pontiac michigan yep you ever you ever dabble into the detroit music scene before you
02:50uh went out to la uh i mean in a way i feel like the whole michigan has like a similar detroit sound
02:56or like flint sound i feel like those are two sounds that come out of michigan um but yeah like one of the
03:03the songs on my album gta was skiller baby it's like that detroit sound because he from detroit
03:10was it important for you to uh get get a song like that just for the hometown i mean i think it was
03:16just organic you know i'm me and i'm cool so you know he he pull up whenever um and we made a few
03:23songs already before that just never been released so uh it was just easy i wasn't really pressed to make
03:29a certain amount a certain type of sound it was just whoever was pulling up that i was rocking
03:34with and they was rocking with me and we was gonna go in there and we was gonna make some good music
03:38now with this song streaming putting the album together with the streaming seems to be different
03:43because it seems like there's no east coast or west coast it's just the vibe i'm looking at the
03:47people who are on this album it's everybody from everywhere you know back in the day it was like okay
03:53strictly east coast west coast but i'm seeing that streaming is allowing you to open up to more type of
03:58music and artists right yeah right different artists yeah it's a lot of artists that um it's
04:03it's just a more it's more fun i would say to like create live you know you're getting live feedback
04:11you they know what they're getting right then and there and even with my album like most of the people
04:17that watch the hit-a-thon they heard me make the song but even when i still drop the album it still
04:23sounds refreshing it still feels new so um you know because when you make the song it ain't mixed
04:30it ain't mastered it ain't got that them extra drums that you know the original has so yeah something
04:36it's something new still so it's cool and being live all the time man it must be tough how do you
04:41how do you manage your relationship with social media making sure that doesn't have negative impact
04:46on your mental health how do you do that because everyone's watching you just they can say anything on the
04:50internet i mean i think over just over time like over the years i develop a really thick skin
04:57on the internet just you know just getting constantly hated on for unnecessary things
05:03it kind of just you get a lot of hate on it yeah so it's like it's just like a a boxer you know what
05:09i'm saying if a boxer is is doing warm-ups where he taking a lot of body shots from the coach or
05:17whatever when he get in the fight you know he gonna be able to eat the you know i'm saying it ain't
05:21nothing why do you think it's important to um continue having these conversations about mental
05:26health uh i mean mental health is extremely important you know i found my myself in in dark
05:32times before you know dealing with like content creation music you know just one of my one to see
05:39myself at the forefront of the industry and things like that but you know i never really let too much
05:47get to me but um you know i always give myself pep talks here and there when i ever feel down
05:56is there anybody you uh talk to when you when you feeling that way or when you get into those spaces
06:01because like you said when you're on social media people say things and you know they always say ignore
06:07it or whatever but at the end of the day you see the comments you see blogs and all that how do you
06:13how do you deal with that my mom like i call my mom about anything still there still still there for
06:19you yeah yeah yeah if i if i feel like some type of way i'm going through something just anything
06:24internet real life whatever i can call my mom you know she might not have the solution right then and
06:30there but you know sometimes you just need somebody to talk to and just to hear that voice yeah did your
06:36mom always have your back when you decided to do what you're doing or what did she have different
06:40plans for her son nah she she was with whatever i was with right away out the gate yeah because back
06:46in college you know i started making a lot of money when i was yeah daddy daddy daddy change it that
06:51get about that daddy get on time for sure yeah she was she was with whatever so you know when i was
06:56dropping out of college and just focused on chasing whatever i wanted to chase you know it was it was easy
07:01i had all the support now i got the album when i put it in the first song i heard was the one with
07:06beer oh that's hard that's hard what was that feeling like working here was that your first time no
07:12wasn't your first time nah me and b have been cool for a minute like i met b years and years and years
07:19ago we made songs like i think around like 2020 during that pandemic era and we just been friends ever
07:28since but um this was the first time that we like popped out with a song and this and that song was
07:36made not during that week but it was made on live that was like one of the other first songs that i
07:41made on during the head of time yeah did the whole thing the whole song on live that's all right there
07:47definitely fire appreciate it man now all right so you got like 15 tracks on here um blame the chat
07:55i'm gonna name a song you tell me what went into making it but all right uh let's go with uh man on
08:01a mission man on a mission that's another song made live um the way that song came about it was me and
08:09kyle rich and we was just in there and this was like one of my lighter streams you know now i get
08:14i average a lot of viewers but like during this time on this stream it was just one of those ones where i
08:19just hit live i ain't really promoted or nothing so you know i only had like two three thousand
08:24people a lot of people didn't see that song get made but we made the song it was me and kyle rich
08:30and then randomly nly chopper walked in the room while i was live and he was like he's like oh i'm just
08:38saying what's up and then i was like man drop a verse man you hit yeah he ended up hopping in the booth
08:44dropping a verse and at first my chat didn't like the song but the one that's on the album that's why
08:51i say like even when i dropped the album some of it's still refreshing because i changed my verse
08:56like i did a whole different verse so the one i put on there is the new one all right let's go with
09:03in the zone in the zone um i actually didn't make this song on live this song was just one of those ones
09:10where i had like i knew it was a great song um but it was an open verse so i had another artist on it
09:16but he just didn't send me the session in time so i was like let me how can i still use this song
09:23because it's not a long song it's like a minute and 30 but i made it like a cool transition from
09:30my other song what i prefer so it feels like it's connected to what i prefer so it don't take up too much
09:35room all right last one no help no help is like a you know it's the outro it's like one of those
09:42songs where i'm kind of like reflecting and um you know just just trying to speak from the heart or
09:50rap from the heart or whatever and slowing the beat down that's that's another thing like that beat was
09:56remade because the producer ended up selling the beat after i already previewed the song yeah that's
10:02happened a few times the producer ended up selling a beat so what was this a online beat or a producer
10:07you was directly working with i just went like sometimes i go to the studio and then i just go
10:12like i just go on youtube and like just find a beat yeah and that was one of them songs i just went on
10:18youtube find a beat well i'm probably never gonna do that again but i just went and found the beat
10:22wrapped on it boom i previewed it and then uh he ended up selling the beat randomly so i had to get and
10:29then we remade it and then he said it was too similar and then he had to remake it again and i
10:35ended up changing it to this beautiful beat that it is now so it's a blessing i got one more speed
10:42ooh tell me about that one speed um so ty pulled up just in the middle of the the hit-a-thon right he
10:50pulled up i'm thinking because most artists pulled up and they got on the mic and they they rap or you
10:55know he's saying and stuff and you rap but um he pulled up he was like i got records already and i
11:02was like yeah yeah i was like all right bet so he started playing don't throw them and then when i
11:06heard speed i'm like that's the one because i knew what i needed i'm like i need something like this
11:10i need something that's easy to remember something that people can vibe to um and another thing like
11:17my chat was like nah bro don't do that one you need to do the um he played another singing record like
11:24i already got singing records i just you know what i'm saying i got what i prefer thing with
11:29queen the song with queen and shincia i'm like all right so i went against them on this one i was
11:35like i know this gonna hit and then i did the speed and then it was perfect out of everyone that
11:40walked in that studio if there was one person that could have walked in that didn't who would
11:46you have loved to walk into that studio when you were putting that together you know adele was on
11:51the way but then she caught a flat tire so dude adele was on the way she caught a flat tire so i was
11:57like come on you know better than that you could have made that a flat tire come on
12:04no but i mean it was it's more so just like who i'm i'm easy to work with so i'm in this space now
12:11we're like that was a lousy excuse by the way she had a flat tire yeah you're right i'm lying by the
12:17way i wish that's a dream yeah yeah but you know i just i just rock with who rock with me you know i
12:25don't like to force collabs i don't like to force features none of that i just like to keep everything
12:31organic so um yeah whoever rocking with me that's who i wanted to walk through the door all right so you
12:39had a success with moonwalking and calabasas since then uh you've made music a little different from
12:47this what is going to be different from this album than the music you made back then um i don't know
12:55i feel like i'm just all around more of a part of a polished artist you know i kind of think more
13:03like okay i want the hook to be a little more simple or i want the hook to sound like this or
13:08um i want to rap for this long on the verse i want to bring you know i'm saying i just think
13:13more technical these days about how my music came out artists yeah for sure how how important is it
13:19because i keep hearing you say your chat said and your chat said how important is it for your chat uh
13:25with your project how much do you take what they say into what you're going to do for your projects
13:31i mean i ain't gonna lie man i think i cracked the code like i think i'm always listening to them
13:37because you got to think like i used to well i used to make music for people that didn't listen
13:40to me that was my problem like now i make music for people that listen to me and then i will let
13:47them be the ones to advocate for me and say oh you know you think ddg just a streamer youtube or whatever
13:52nah he hard i let them advocate for me because you know i i feel like a lot of my music career i was
14:00chasing the streams and the support from people that don't want to like me no matter what but now
14:08like i'm i'm i'm set like if i only got a thousand streams on a song i'm gonna make music for those
14:16people that stream that thousand you know i mean and then eventually it's gonna grow it's funny because
14:22streaming your your fan base is worldwide everywhere are you ever surprised that some of the people from
14:28from the different countries that check in for you uh yeah low key but it's becoming a little
14:34normal it's crazy yeah it is a little bit because it's you know i travel a lot so when i leave the
14:40country and i run into a lot of fans and people run into me it's just i don't know it's surreal for
14:46real now we talked about the youtube beats i'm hearing that you're trying to get and produce you're
14:50trying to have somebody teach you how to produce your own music yeah is that something you've always
14:54wanted to do or it just happened right now i always wanted to do it but i just never sat down and did
14:59it i'm gonna tell you a secret you know i was badly touring in high school okay that's pretty smart i'm
15:05a smart man you know so uh i feel like all it take is like give me like a week about two weeks two weeks
15:14so he said that because he liked to make beats so when you said a week he's like hold up now a week a
15:19week you can you can get it about a week so i'll be neck and neck with pharrell he said he would be
15:27neck to neck with pharrell in a week no but you know what you got to think positive you got to
15:33think that way now when you started music was streaming the way that you said you know what
15:38this is how i'm going to get on or were you just a streamer and you know you started making music and
15:43it just happened that way i actually started on youtube so like streaming like i've been streaming
15:50for 60 days straight like every single day like even after that week long stream during the studio
15:56i got on stream three hours after all that production was gone so i just been very consistent that's why
16:04it seems like it's like i've been doing it for a long time but in reality like i haven't been really
16:09consistent with streaming until february of this year so it's just really starting to take off but
16:16i started off on youtube and that's where i kind of like got my first blow up at and then i crossed
16:22over you know i went into the moonwalking and calabasas had that run during the pandemic and stuff
16:28like that but this is definitely a whole different era has streaming changed the course of music making
16:34for sure for sure i feel like streamers are like the biggest pr run for artists so it's good for me
16:43to like be my own marketing my own pr you know like i i can advocate for myself i can um you know
16:51artists want to pull up on my stream to play their music you feel me so it's just like i don't know
16:57it's like it's a it's a very strong tool it's a lot of power for sure how what is reality to ddg you do
17:05a lot of streaming yeah when you're not streaming how how how is ddg just in the regular world i ain't
17:13gonna lie bro like i'm introverted for real like i'm really an introvert but you know why i love i love
17:21streaming because it forces me to be more outgoing you know because i got thousands of people watching
17:29me so it's like i have to be funny i have to crack jokes i have to speak like i just took a nap on the
17:36way here i seen it on your uh yeah i was sleeping on the way here but it's like bro that's probably the
17:42only nap i'm gonna get today and i you know i got i'm back i'm on i'm on the clock you feel me so
17:47you know these people some of these people paying eight dollars a month to watch me you
17:53know what i mean so it's like i can't sit here and be boring so it forces me to be extroverted and
17:58really um be outgoing but i'm noticing that it's it's starting to bleed into my real life so like
18:05when a camera not on sometimes i'm still i still got that little extroverted self you know i mean which
18:12i like because i'm i'll be telling myself i need to speak to people more you know i'm the type of being
18:16in the corner chick kick it chill you know but i ask this question all the time i'm going to ask
18:20you the same question but i'm going to flip a little bit the mount rushmore of streamers who's
18:26on that mountain the mountain rushmore of streamers give me five five uh go kyson that big
18:33speed aiden ross black boy max then i go
18:44i say myself oh you can't wait i'm about to say don't leave you off of there i try to be humble
18:48with it because you know i just put you on there don't leave yourself he had that whole time he had
18:53that whole time yeah i'm gonna say my name last you know a lot of these people like they they
18:59motivate me to start streaming so you know i gotta put them first you know what i'm saying but like
19:06i do give myself i put myself up there you would talk you would call for it it's not easy people
19:12think it's easy you just turn the camera on and go you've worked hard at this to get where you are
19:16yeah for sure for sure but i you know if if it was if the question was a little reworded like black
19:23creators i would have said my name immediately right away when you say streamer it's like i can't
19:30really put myself automatically top five because i just really got hot maybe like you know i mean
19:37i've been going crazy for like two three months so but creators give about a year and ask me the
19:42same question i said before you even ask the question so let's hold it let's get it right
19:47adele caught a flat pharrell with the producing you're gonna be the one i like it i like it i
19:53like it you ever um look at streaming because i know when you started it you probably was like this
19:58is fun this is dope whatever whatever did you ever look at it like damn this gonna be a job
20:04nah i mean i really got into streaming because i just wanted to build a stronger foundation like with
20:10my supporters i feel like the more connected to them that you are the more they want to support you
20:16you feel me so i feel like my life is already out there from youtube so i might as well connect
20:21with them even more and i think it's working perfectly well uh you used to get a lot of hate
20:28yeah where do you think that hate came from because you seem like a cool dude man you know what i'm glad
20:33you said that because i am a cool dude man like i think it's just i don't know like sometimes i might
20:40come off as like a little cocky or whatever i'm just proud of myself you feel me so i like to
20:46i come from a very struggling environment so like you know i like to buy nice things
20:51you know what i'm saying i like to like to do stuff you know i don't i don't let nobody nobody's able to
20:56bully me you know what i mean i feel like when people think of like content creators and streamers they
21:02think you saw for something so like i always you say something crazy to me i'm gonna i'm gonna respond
21:08say something you know i'm gonna say something back and i feel like that may it may be created
21:13more um haters over time you know i'll be for fan bases i don't even be for singular people i think
21:20that's a waste of time if you got a fan base you're gonna have to hold fan base i want the whole fan
21:25base to hate me that's what i'm on i mean i like to smoke you like this i enjoy negativity like but it's
21:32like sometimes you know sometimes it could be overwhelming but um for the most part you know
21:38i think my energy is just strong and people some people feel intimidated by it some people envious of
21:44it but all in all i always tell people like that i i tell my supporters and whenever i get on live or
21:50whatever when i talk about like beefs or haters or whatever i'm like if if anybody that hated on me
21:56met me in real life and hung out with me in real life they'd be like they'll be confused on why they
22:01hated me you know i mean there's no reason there's no real there's no real reason it's just like empty
22:07hate that people just come up with off of just assumptions from blog sites and you know we know
22:13how fake media be but it is what it is i ain't tripping what's a good number for you with this album
22:19that will make you satisfied as far as numbers wise what would be because you wanted to beat the last
22:23album yeah he said i want to do better than the last album with this one and the next one better
22:27than this one so what's the comfortable number for you i said if i hit 20 i'm cool 20 if i go under 20
22:34i'm still cool though but it's just like i think i think 20 for me is cool um but i think just
22:43i'm satisfied already with the amount of love that i'm getting for it you know so i know like
22:48i'm going in the right direction because sometimes like the previous albums that i dropped i didn't
22:54really know what the what direction i was going in or how how of an impact or if it was going to
23:01stick i feel like this album is something if it don't sell 20 this week it might sell 20 in the
23:07fourth week you know what i mean or the fifth week or something i feel like it got a lot of room to grow
23:12and you know i still got to drop these music videos keep pushing it i still got to go on tour it's just a
23:17lot of stuff that i still got to do so it can get greater later yeah for sure let's talk about
23:21the hair man you cut the joints off or is it a reason why or you just got sick of them so i it was
23:28a goal so when i did the hit-a-thon thing right i had to hit 40k subs you know i mean you know how
23:35much money subs is a lot of money it's enough to make you cut your hair well eight it's about eight
23:41dollars a sub man yeah how many cut it i had like 40 000 i'll cut mine for that much
23:47you'll grow them do the math man so yeah but yeah like i you know i i reached that 40 000 subs i'm
23:55like if i reach this you know i i cut my hair pretty much keeping your word i got a lot of support from
24:00my peers though like that's the thing about the streaming community versus like the music industry
24:06the streaming community they real supportive it's not no real envy it's like it's like slight
24:11competition you know everybody shares certain type of viewers and stuff like that but
24:15all in all everybody's supportive of each other versus like the music industry
24:20no rapper might not post your song because you know they don't want you know i'm saying they
24:24don't want you to get no whatever so it's like it's less clicked up than the the music industry so
24:31i was able to reach that number i ain't gonna lie you you were six two with the hair
24:35nah well you only six two yeah man now with my boots i gotta put you on the boots man
24:41have you been offered money for the hair has anyone offered you money for the hair yet
24:45nah i sell them though you sell it for the right price i sell them there's one thing we learned
24:50about ddg about the paper about the money he wanted the money i ain't mad at it you you live on the
24:57stream and you're introvert and real you know off of it what are you like on stage i'm lit it's different
25:05like when i'm when i'm chill around chill yeah when it's time to when it's time to work i'm up i'm
25:11jumping in the crowd i'm doing all types of stuff okay and i'm gonna i'm gonna be the first artist
25:16to live stream the tour oh again actually that would be special if you were to live stream the whole
25:20tour i am just take your fans with you so they can see exactly what you see yeah i'm having to have
25:25secret service on y'all don't steal his idea either let him do that first no they can they can try
25:30if they want anybody can steal the idea but it's like i want to be the first you know what i'm saying
25:36ddg you're smart man i got one more question can 100 men be the gorilla yes i don't know why that
25:43was even a thing like you got to think about it bro like if a gorilla came in here right now it's 100
25:47of us you know i'm saying how many people can a gorilla kill before he's tired now here's the here's the
25:54problem who wants to be the one that the gorilla kill see but see then see that's the thing about
26:00these scenarios people get to thinking too deep we ain't thinking about mentally if he's scared to
