A generally dry and sunny start with showers clearing and patchy cloud in places, with the thickest cloud across northern and eastern Scotland and northeastern England. Heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop in the south and west through the afternoon. Feeling warm in the sunshine, but a little less humid than Monday. 00:00Hello. Following a slight interlude in between the largely dry and sunny spring that we're all experiencing
00:08over the last few days with hit and miss showers, we're going to see further showers overnight
00:12but they become increasingly few and far between. Most of them fade away after the sun goes down
00:18and clear spells break out across the country. Patchy cloud here and there but the thickest
00:23cloud will be across the north and east of Scotland as well as northeast England. Low
00:27cloud rolling in from the sea creeping its way inland. Temperatures dipping into the
00:31high single figures, low double figures and we start off Tuesday with I think more widespread
00:36sunny skies compared with Monday morning certainly across some central, western and southern
00:41parts of the UK. Blue skies from the word go. Patchy cloud running into the southwest of
00:45England and that thick low cloud tending to retreat back to the coast across northeast Scotland.
00:51But into the afternoon there's always the chance that a few showers will develop once again
00:55as temperatures rise and the cloud bubbles up. One or two perhaps for the highlands but
01:01more especially south Wales into central southern England and the southeast. The old weather front
01:07that provided a focus for showers during Sunday and Monday just reactivating into the afternoon
01:13as temperatures rise. Again these will be really hit and miss even if you're in this zone you could
01:17stay dry but where you do get hit by a heavy shower it could be quite intense and there's always the
01:24risk of some lightning and hail as well as gusty winds. So these showers developing into the afternoon
01:32and affecting a few spots but for the vast majority it's a dry and sunny afternoon as sunshine once again
01:38makes a return widely across the UK. The highest temperatures are shifting northwestwards so north
01:45wales northwest england western scotland northern ireland 22 to 24 celsius west highlands could see 26 or 27 celsius but
01:54much cooler on that north sea coast where we've got 12s and 13s under the low cloud. Then into tuesday
02:02nights any showers that do form quickly fade away after the sun goes down and again lengthy clear spells
02:08away from the area across eastern scotland and northeast england where we've got low cloud drifting in from
02:14the north sea that could give a few spots of drizzle by the start of wednesday also a few showers may
02:19just approach parts of cornwall by the end of the night in between plenty of clear spells a little
02:25bit fresher as we start off wednesday with slightly lower humidities and we've got high pressure building
02:31once again around the middle part of the week that low pressure distant memory it disappears by wednesday
02:37afternoon and the high to the north brings plenty more settled weather although it also brings east to
02:44northeasterly winds so a lot of low cloud coming in and affecting north sea coast the focus for that
02:50tending to drift south through the afternoon so perhaps affecting parts of east anglia by 2 or 3 pm
02:56one or two showers though could still develop across parts of cornell and west devon again these will be
03:01hit and miss elsewhere it's simply dry and it's sunny and those widespread sunny skies continue into
03:08thursday and friday with temperatures typically later this week high teens low 20s always feeling
03:14much cooler on that north sea coast so high pressure returns a return to dry and sunny weather for the
03:21rest of the week and very little useful rain in sight for the time being
