00:00The life and legacy of Imam al-Iris. On the 11th of Dhul Qadda, in the year 148 AH, the blessed morning of Friday, the leader of days, witnessed the birth of the 8th successor of the Prophet Muhammad and the 8th Imam in the chain of Imam 8, Imam Ali al-Ridha S, in the holy city of Medina.
00:20His noble father was Imam Musa al-Khazim S, and his esteemed mother was Lady Najma Khatun. According to traditions and linguistic variations, her names are mentioned as Hiktam, Awah, Samana, Umalbanin, Kaizuran, Sakra, Thakra, and after the birth of Imam Ali al-Ridha S, she was known by the title Tahira, the pure one.
00:41Imam Musa al-Khazim S, recited the Adhan, called to prayer, and Ikkama, called to start prayer, in his son's ears, and arranged the Akikah, sacrificial offering.
00:50The name of the Imam was Ali S, his title was Abul Hassan, and his epithets included Sabir, patient, Farzeel, virtuously, well-pleased, Wafi, loyal, Quratayn al-Muminin, delight of the believers, and Gaisal Mulhidin, fury to the atheists.
01:06The most famous title, al-Ridha, was bestowed by the holy prophet, PBUH. Approximately 15 days before his blessed birth, his grandfather, Imam Jafar al-Sadiq S, was martyred.
01:19At the time of his birth, the Abbasid caliph was al-Mansur al-Dawaniqi.

01:52He had one son, Imam Muhammad al-Taki, companions of Imam Ali al-Ridha, as Dibil bin Ali al-Kuzai, a great poet and scholar of his time.

03:13If anyone stood up in respect while he was eating, he would discourage them, saying that
03:17food is a blessing of Allah and must be respected.

03:25When people would waste fruit by eating half and throwing the rest, he would advise not
03:30to waste the blessings of Allah and instead give the excess to the poor.

03:37He used to remind his followers, all your deeds are presented to your imam every evening.
03:42He prays for your forgiveness, so do not sadden his heart with your sins.
03:47The best nourishment for a child is the mother's milk.
03:57Vinegar is a blessed food.
03:59A house that contains it will never face poverty.
04:02Raisings purify bile, remove phlegm, strengthen muscles, and purify the soul.
04:07Violet oil provides warmth in winter and coolness in summer when applied to the head.
04:12Using olive oil protects from Satan's influence for 40 days.
04:16Reciting the Koran, consuming honey, and drinking milk enhance memory.
04:22Eating meat is a source of healing.
04:24One who abstains from meat for 40 days becomes ill-tempered.
04:28Begin meals with salt.
04:29It cures 70 diseases, including leprosy.
04:33Lentils were the food of 70 prophets.
04:35They soften the heart and produce tears.
04:37Eating well, wearing good shoes, avoiding debt, and limiting intercourse are beneficial.
04:43Whiteness of hair starting from the front indicates prosperity and blessedness.
04:48From the cheeks, generosity.
04:50From the hairline, bravery.
04:52From the nape, misfortune.
04:54Three engraved ring inscriptions.
04:57He had two rings.
04:58One personal ring with the inscription,
05:01Masha'Allah lakwa ta'ilabala,
05:02What Allah wills, there is no power except with Allah.
05:05One inherited ring inscribed with,
05:08Hasbi Allah, Allah is sufficient for me.

05:55gathered seen people and dictated a will.
05:58He obtained testimony from sixty witnesses,
06:00stating,
06:01My successor is my son,
06:03Ali al-Ridha,
06:04A.S.,
06:05because I know I will not return to Medina,
06:07and at the time of my death,
06:09he may not be present with me
06:11to publicly declare his succession.
06:13Such a scenario has no precedent
06:15in the lives of others.
