00:00Hello there, good evening. Many of us have managed to see a relatively dry and fair weekend, but as we transition into the new week, there is the increasing chance of showers for some of us.
00:10It's all being driven by this area of low pressure moving its way in from the south, and already this evening we're seeing some of those showers spread across parts of western England into areas of Wales as well.
00:21They do have the potential to be on the sharp and thundery side.
00:23An area of rain will also blossom across northern Ireland, turning heavy at times before it pushes its way into areas of western Scotland later on in the night.
00:32Generally further east, there will be some clear spells. It's going to be a mild night for most of us, particularly in the west and the south.
00:38We could see temperatures holding around 13 to 14 degrees Celsius.
00:42That little bit cooler and fresher out towards the east and the north, and there will be some low cloud lingering across eastern coast of Scotland first thing.
00:49This is tending to burn back throughout the day, and the rain in the west will also ease off as well.
00:55Some outbreaks, though, are also possible for eastern counties of Northern Ireland.
00:58It's really into the afternoon, though, where we'll start to see some of those heavy showers developing across parts of England and Wales,
01:05maybe even spreading into parts of southwest Scotland as we head into the middle parts of the afternoon.
01:10The focus for those heavier showers, though, really stretches from parts of London through the Midlands into areas of Wales as far north of Cheshire,
01:18and also northern coasts of Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
01:22Not everywhere in this region is going to see the thunderstorms.
01:26They will be hit and miss, but certainly where they do occur, they have the potential to provide some torrential downpours of rain,
01:32hail, lightning, strong gusty winds as well, and as a result, there is potential for some localised flooding.
01:38Of course, rain is needed for many regions after a dry spring so far,
01:41but just the intensity of these storms could provide some surface water issues,
01:46and there may be difficult travelling conditions around at times.
01:50As we've seen already, there is potential for some thunderstorms to develop slightly outside of this warning area,
01:56but it's this region where we have the most likelihood of those storms causing the most disruption throughout the day.
02:02If you do avoid them, though, there is still going to be some long sunny intervals in between those showers,
02:08and temperatures will be responding to that sunshine.
02:10It's going to be feeling very warm, highs around the mid-twenties for much of central and eastern areas of England.
02:17A little bit fresher further towards the north, but still 19 degrees Celsius as possible through the central belt of Scotland.
02:24The showers will continue for a good portion of the evening,
02:27probably taking until later on overnight before they eventually clear.
02:30Our area of low pressure will slowly drift its way southwards as we head into Tuesday,
02:36and so while some showers will still develop once again on this second day of the week,
02:40they will be more limited towards parts of southern Wales into areas of southwest England as well,
02:45still potentially on the fundery side.
02:47But many central and northern regions will see plentiful amounts of sunshine throughout the day,
02:52away from a touch of cloud lingering across the far north of Scotland.
02:55For most of us, it is going to be a pleasant, warm and sunny day.
02:59Those temperatures rebounding for parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland now climbing to the 20 degrees Celsius mark here as well,
03:06and still in that sunshine, 24, 25 is possible across parts of England as well.
03:13With our area of low pressure moving towards the south,
03:15it's going to allow high pressure to return as we head towards the middle part of the week,
03:19and this is going to keep things mostly fine and settled.
03:22So increasingly, from Wednesday onwards, we are going to see the return of pretty widespread flying conditions,
03:28lots of sunshine and plentiful amounts of warm weather in there as well.
03:32Of course, there will be more updates of that on our YouTube channel, so do subscribe for those.
03:36We'll see you again later on. Bye-bye.
03:37Bye-bye.
