00:12Physically, I mean, you guys are...
00:14You know how to, like, take care of your bodies
00:16and your diet and stuff like that.
00:18But it is, like, the mental and emotional stuff.
00:20Like, there's no real...
00:22Like, road map. Like, you know?
00:24The physical is the easiest part.
00:28Perfect.
00:29Professional athletes are...
00:31are master compensators.
00:33And so even if something doesn't feel right,
00:36you can figure that...
00:38that side of things out.
00:42Learning to deal with the...
00:44with the mental and the emotional...
00:46is tougher...
00:48than the physical.
00:52That's where the real challenge lies,
00:55is figuring that side out,
00:57because it's...
00:59it is mentally and emotionally...
01:01training.
01:07Athletes know better than anyone...
01:09that sports are a mental game.
01:14When the power of the mind takes over the most physically gifted,
01:17how do they deal with it?
01:18This generation just can't deal with it.
01:20This generation just can't deal with it.
01:21I feel...
01:23very anxious.
01:25Who do they turn to?
01:27What do they do?
01:28Simone Biles dropped out.
01:30Today's player...
01:31Not tough.
01:32Hold on, hold on.
01:33Hold on, hold on.
01:37Spiritual teachers from around the world...
01:39will challenge the world's greatest athletes...
01:41to look inward...
01:43to battle their greatest opponent...
01:46themselves.
02:00I love basketball...
02:01and I hate losing.
02:06Losing bothers me...
02:10way more...
02:12than winning fulfills me.
02:16It's the losing that really fucking gets to me.
02:21Sometimes I definitely lose my cool.
02:24Now Green and Tristan Thompson going at it!
02:27The thing that most people don't realize...
02:31is...
02:32that guy could be dealing with a bunch of shit...
02:35whenever he's not on this floor...
02:37for these two and a half hours.
02:41It all stems from...
02:43one to win...
02:44one to be great...
02:45one to do well.
02:47And now we've got a fight!
02:49We have a legitimate fight here!
02:54It's the competitive...
02:57beast in me!
03:06I knew a lot about Draymond...
03:08because...
03:10I watched him a lot in college...
03:11at Michigan State.
03:13I watched him win at a high level...
03:15and compete...
03:17and...
03:18I just didn't know how good he was going to be in the NBA.
03:21Jordan Ballard and Draymond!
03:23Beautifully done!
03:24Our personalities are different...
03:33in that he's...
03:34you know...
03:35more...
03:36demonstrative.
03:37He can't mess with me!
03:38When it's quite time, I show up!
03:40One thing about Draymond...
03:41is that he is emotional...
03:43and if you understand that...
03:44then you understand who Draymond is.
03:45It's a balancing act...
03:46I mean...
03:47there's times that it's...
03:49it teeters right on the brink.
03:52In...
03:53many cases...
03:54he could back down...
03:55but I don't think he knows how.
03:57What...
03:58he struggles with sometimes...
04:00people have trouble...
04:02understanding...
04:04how bad he wants to win.
04:06Now...
04:07he doesn't have to...
04:08sometimes handle that right either.
04:10Green and James...
04:11join at each other...
04:12well...
04:13play continues!
04:14Draymond Green is suspended...
04:15thanks to his...
04:16below-the-belt shot...
04:17on LeBron James.
04:19It happens...
04:20a few times a year...
04:21where...
04:22he's ready to blow.
04:23He can get so mad...
04:28so emotional...
04:29so frustrated...
04:31that...
04:32he opens himself up...
04:33for criticism...
04:35for... maybe an ejection...
04:36from an official...
04:38for a fine...
04:39from the NBA.
04:40But...
04:41I think there are times...
04:42when he questions...
04:43whether he took something too far.
04:45I'm hopeful that we can help...
04:46Draymond...
04:47continue to play...
04:48at...
04:49an incredibly high level...
04:50continue to be an all-star...
04:51and yet...
04:52find a little more...
04:53peace within himself.
04:54I think that would be...
04:55the ultimate...
04:56uh...
04:57achievement for us.
04:58My fire is who I am.
04:59Like...
05:00I'm gonna have my fire.
05:01But...
05:02finding that balance...
05:03I think has always been...
05:04a challenge for me.
05:13The great athletes...
05:14have the opportunity...
05:16to become the...
05:17greatest spiritual mentors...
05:19of the next generation of athletes.
05:20Deepak Chopra...
05:21is the world-renowned...
05:22founder...
05:23of the Chopra Foundation...
05:24a non-profit entity...
05:26for research...
05:27on well-being.
05:28Time Magazine...
05:29has described him...
05:30as one of the top...
05:31100 heroes...
05:32and icons...
05:33of the century.
05:34In the Eastern...
05:35wisdom traditions...
05:36fire is called...
05:37Agni.
05:38Agni...
05:39is the root word...
05:40for...
05:41ignite.
05:43Without that fire...
05:44there's no transformation.
05:45So...
05:46fire in the heart...
05:47for a higher calling...
05:48is...
05:49absolutely necessary.
05:52So I would say...
05:53don't stop the ignition.
05:54There's no engine...
05:55without the ignition.
05:56but choose...
05:57what the fire is for.
05:58What are you feeling...
05:59about that?
06:00What are you expecting?
06:01Um...
06:02I don't...
06:03you know...
06:04I don't really know...
06:05what...
06:06to expect...
06:07because I think...
06:08it's a lane...
06:09that I've...
06:10I've never really...
06:11dove into.
06:12And so if I'm expecting...
06:13that I'm going to...
06:14there's no engine...
06:15without the ignition...
06:16but choose what the fire is for.
06:17What are you feeling...
06:18about that?
06:19What are you expecting?
06:20Um...
06:21I don't...
06:22you know...
06:23I don't really know...
06:25what to expect...
06:26because I think it's a lane...
06:27that I've...
06:29I've never really...
06:30so if I'm expecting anything...
06:31it's the unexpected.
06:37Hi, Draymond.
06:38How's it going?
06:39Good. How are you?
06:40Good. Pleasure.
06:41I don't care.
06:43You have any questions...
06:44for me?
06:45You know...
06:46and just...
06:47like...
06:48reading up on...
06:49a lot of the things...
06:50that...
06:51you have...
06:52accomplished...
06:53I was reading...
06:54your seven...
06:55to the...
06:56Seven spiritual laws...
06:57of success.
06:58Yes.
06:59Um...
07:00and...
07:01and I...
07:02I read one of them was...
07:03containing your negative...
07:05emotion.
07:06It's not just...
07:07forcefully...
07:08disciplining yourself...
07:09because that would be unnatural.
07:11Mm-hmm.
07:12If you...
07:13if you think positively...
07:14all the time...
07:15and you think that's what you should be doing...
07:18that could be very stressful...
07:20you know...
07:21and...
07:22it's not natural.
07:23Mm-hmm.
07:24So the most important thing is...
07:26to be natural...
07:27but also to understand...
07:29how to deal with emotions.
07:31So let me ask you...
07:32a couple of questions.
07:33Okay.
07:34And...
07:35answer them...
07:37intuitively.
07:38Don't think too much, okay?
07:39Okay.
07:40So...
07:41on a scale of one to ten...
07:43how's life?
07:44Seven.
07:46Seven.
07:48Okay.
07:49You're thriving.
07:50On a scale of one to ten...
07:52how satisfied are you...
07:55with your...
07:56athletic performance?
08:00I would say about...
08:01I'm saying about a seven or eight.
08:03Okay.
08:04That's pretty good.
08:05So...
08:06on a scale of one to ten...
08:08how's your emotional life?
08:12Emotional...
08:13um...
08:14four.
08:16That...
08:17you're suffering then.
08:18Emotionally...
08:19you're suffering.
08:22So it looks like...
08:23everything is working for you...
08:25except...
08:28your emotional well-being...
08:30which of course...
08:31affects everything.
08:32Mm-hmm.
08:33Right?
08:34Every emotion that you have...
08:35somehow triggers...
08:37a response in the body.
08:40And looking at over...
08:41my entire career...
08:43dating back to...
08:44well before...
08:45playing in the NBA...
08:47whether it was college...
08:48high school...
08:49I was always...
08:51counted out.
08:53Draymond Green is not a...
08:54top 20 defender.
08:55All right.
08:56I don't care what he says...
08:57it's his opinion.
08:58Would you call him a great athlete?
08:59Because I don't see...
09:00that great athleticism.
09:01Do you?
09:02No.
09:03Is he a superstar?
09:04Absolutely not.
09:05We all know who that is.
09:06You know it's Steph Curry.
09:07And those were the things...
09:09that fueled me.
09:10Everyone saying...
09:11what I couldn't do.
09:13And so in my mind...
09:14I was like always the guy...
09:15who like...
09:16I'm not supposed to be here.
09:17And with that...
09:18becomes a certain...
09:20aura...
09:21that you kind of...
09:22carry with you.
09:23And...
09:25once you...
09:26beat the odds...
09:27once you...
09:28overcome everything...
09:29that you said...
09:30you couldn't do...
09:31and you continue...
09:32to carry that same aura...
09:34it becomes distasteful.
09:35Yes.
09:37Rage was a part...
09:38of your...
09:39identity, right?
09:42100%.
09:43You know I...
09:44I go on the floor...
09:45and...
09:47like...
09:48no matter what...
09:49no matter who gets in the way...
09:51it's coming out.
09:52But it's...
09:53emotionally draining.
09:55But there are subtleties to rage.
09:57There's a difference between...
09:58anger...
09:59and hostility.
10:01Now...
10:02anger as a release...
10:03can be okay.
10:06It's like...
10:07laughter can be...
10:08a release.
10:09Sleep can be...
10:10a release.
10:11Hostility...
10:12on the other hand...
10:13is the desire...
10:14for revenge...
10:15or desire to get even.
10:18That is a dangerous emotion.
10:20But anger...
10:22is okay...
10:24as long as you don't...
10:25carry it with you.
10:29And now...
10:30you're a basketball player...
10:31so...
10:32you know...
10:33that there are moments...
10:35when you're playing...
10:36where...
10:37you lose...
10:38all sense of...
10:39self.
10:40Have you experienced that?
10:41Absolutely.
10:42Let's go!
10:45Have you experienced...
10:46you lose all sense of...
10:47time?
10:48Absolutely.
10:49You move...
10:50in anticipation...
10:51without thinking...
10:52there's no resistance...
10:53there's no anticipation...
10:54there's no...
10:55there's no...
10:56there's no...
10:57there's no...
10:58there's no...
10:59there's no memory.
11:04This is the...
11:06secret...
11:07inner stillness...
11:09and...
11:10outer...
11:11dynamic activity...
11:12at the same time.
11:13This is what...
11:14the great...
11:15spiritual traditions...
11:16call flow.
11:17You've heard the expression...
11:18to be in the zone, right?
11:19Absolutely.
11:20So...
11:21that word...
11:22to be in the zone...
11:23comes from...
11:24to be zen-like.
11:25And zen...
11:26is...
11:27actually a derivative...
11:28of another word...
11:29called dhyan...
11:30which means...
11:31meditation.
11:32So...
11:33meditation...
11:34is...
11:35not...
11:36how to change...
11:37your mind...
11:38but...
11:39meditation...
11:40is...
11:41to go beyond...
11:42the mind...
11:43to that place...
11:44of stillness...
11:45where it doesn't matter...
11:46what's happening around...
11:47chaos...
11:48confusion...
11:49the crowd...
11:50is screaming...
11:51but you're totally...
11:52independent of that...
11:53you're right there...
11:54in the moment...
11:55in flow.
11:56So...
11:57I think we should...
11:58do a little practice together.
11:59I'd love to.
12:00Meditation...
12:01ultimately...
12:02is a way to get to...
12:03the source of thought...
12:04go...
12:05beyond...
12:06the...
12:07I think...
12:08I think...
12:09I think...
12:10you get to...
12:11the...
12:12I think...
12:13but you're totally...
12:14independent of that...
12:15you're right there...
12:16in the moment...
12:17in flow.
12:18So...
12:19I think...
12:20we should...
12:21do a little practice together.
12:22I'd love to.
12:23Meditation...
12:24ultimately...
12:25is a way...
12:26to get to the source...
12:27of thought...
12:28Go beyond the secret passages, the dark alleys,
12:32and the ghost-filled attics of the conditioned mind.
12:36So Drayman, this is good.
12:39Keep your feet firmly planted on the ground.
12:42Hands open.
12:44Okay, so let's close the eyes.
12:47We'll start with just observing the breath.
12:52You don't have to do anything. Just be aware of the sensation.
12:58Let go and flow.
13:06Now bring your awareness to your heart in the middle of your chest.
13:10And without moving your lips or your tongue,
13:15mentally ask the following questions.
13:19Who am I?
13:21Second question.
13:29What do I want?
13:32Third question.
13:38What is my calling? What is my purpose?
13:46Last and final question, which will open the door to abundance.
13:51What am I grateful for?
13:53Now let it all go and mentally repeat your full name to yourself.
14:02I am dreaming.
14:04Drayman Green!
14:12Presence. Awareness. Being.
14:17That's who we are.
14:20Before we come out, feel your body from the inside out.
14:28And we are going to plant some intentions in the body.
14:33Now bring your awareness into your heart in the middle of your chest.
14:38And the intention.
14:42Loving, compassionate heart.
14:44Loving, compassionate heart.
14:48Now bring your awareness into your third eye in the middle of your eyebrows.
14:53Let your awareness now expand outside the boundaries of your skin.
14:59Let your awareness pervade all of space and time.
15:06Bring your awareness back into your body.
15:11How do you feel?
15:13I feel good.
15:14Feel good?
15:19Relax.
15:20Can you feel this presence of your own self?
15:24Yes.
15:25See, that's who we are.
15:27The presence.
15:28Everything else comes and goes.
15:29The world comes and goes.
15:30The body changes.
15:32The mind changes.
15:33Moons come and go.
15:35But that's stillness inside.
15:38So from now on, anytime you feel stressed,
15:43just do a hand gesture like this.
15:46And mentally say the word, aham.
15:48Aham?
15:49Yeah.
15:50That's it.
15:53Finding that balance, I think, has always been a challenge for me.
15:56And like...
15:58And I actually felt like...
16:01Just like there in that moment.
16:04With no worry of anything else going on around.
16:08Just grounded in that moment.
16:11And I think that's not something that I can say I've always felt.
16:20Basketball has been a huge part of my life since I can remember.
16:25I come from a basketball family.
16:27We play basketball.
16:29We watch basketball.
16:31It's a part of who I am.
16:33He grew up in one of the tougher cities in our state.
16:35And it wasn't easy growing up.
16:40We grew up in Saginaw.
16:42Returning home every day is a task.
16:45Like I know so many guys that never returned home.
16:48Whether that was...
16:49They didn't return home because they went to prison.
16:51They didn't return home because of...
16:54Death.
16:56And...
16:58When you grow up that way...
17:01It builds a certain toughness, a certain type of person.
17:08You never lose the experiences that took place in Saginaw.
17:14That make up the person that you see here today.
17:19Like you never lose that.
17:21But you do grow from that.
17:23You do grow sometimes away from it.
17:26I don't think he ever wants to be the flashy white-collar guy.
17:32He wants to be the grungy blue-collar guy.
17:34And he doesn't want to get soft.
17:38Because success sometimes makes you soft.
17:41And that is the word of it.
17:42I'm afraid to say that word in front of him.
17:45Because he might come after me.
18:01Hello.
18:02Hi. Welcome.
18:04Thank you.
18:06My name is Debbie Brown and I'm a well-being educator.
18:09I'm an author and I'm a mom.
18:14There are so many particular experiences that athletes have over the course of their lives.
18:21That lead them to who they are.
18:22And I think it's so interesting because athletes, as celebrated as they are, as powerful as they are, as successful as many are, they are not really given the space to be fully known to themselves or to other people.
18:38How was your session with Deepak yesterday?
18:41It was great.
18:43It's my first time meditating.
18:45Oh.
18:46And I kind of got a little lost in the moment, which I'm told is great. So it went really well.
18:52That piece that you experience is what in meditation is called the gap. So it is really like the sweet spot that exists in between one thought and the next thought.
19:05That is where the highest potential of your life exists. You are in command of your power in each moment. You're also in command of your energy. You're not leaking energy anywhere.
19:17Well, that's great. I think it's a lot of wasted energy.
19:22Where does your energy go now?
19:25I try not to allow people to necessarily affect my energy or to cast their energy up on mine. But the reality is, I think you definitely take on, especially being in the position we're in, like everyone make their problems your problem.
19:44And I think with that, you're definitely, you know, if their energy is bad, you're taking on some of that. You're not allowed to just say, all right, I'm just down with that guy and it is what it is.
19:57Yeah.
19:59You may very well need that guy to win.
20:02You have to try to understand how a guy is feeling. You have to try to understand what makes this guy tick. You have to try to understand when that guy is bothered by something.
20:13And doing all that, that's a lot of emotion.
20:15There's times where it completely just pushes me to my boiling point and I explode.
20:23Are you looked at as the problem solver?
20:25I am looked at as the problem solver. However, I am also at times looked at as the problem. And that's kind of the plot twist.
20:33He's got it.
20:34Prior to basketball, when was the first time that you noticed you had to be responsible for other people's emotions?
20:43You know, when I was growing up, my mom, she would always say, I get in trouble in school. Be a leader. Get kicked out of the recreation center. Be a leader.
20:53What I grew to realize is that I had some natural leadership qualities. And definitely at a young age, like, really doesn't dawn on you to be like, you're shouldering more responsibility than you maybe even should be.
21:11In some of what I was hearing around the leadership, it was actually two things happening. I was hearing someone who is a leader also reckoning with the responsibility of leadership.
21:23That session with Debbie, it was just extremely therapeutic.
21:30Deepak was a more cerebral and chill and like dissecting the brain almost. Whereas Debbie was almost dissecting the heart.
21:48Talking about just like a little bit of where you are. I mean, like we're saying, had a pretty busy off season. I mean, it's not been much of an off season.
22:00It hasn't. Um, one month.
22:03The training camp.
22:05Training camp one month, first game, six weeks. It's a big year for me. I want to be an all-star again.
22:14Ich will win Defense Player of the Year again.
22:19Obviously, I will win a championship, that goes without saying it.
22:22But it's a big year for me.
22:34Draymond Green is not here at Media Day today,
22:38and he might miss the first one or two days of practice training camp,
22:42which starts tomorrow for an excused personal absence.
22:47This morning around 5 a.m., I saw a text message that said that he canceled
22:53and that we have not been able to be in touch with him or have communication with him.
22:59Overarchingly, I hope that he is okay, and I hope that everyone is okay.
23:03Bob said yesterday that Draymond will probably be back in a few days.
23:08Do you have a better idea of when he will be back?
23:12Like, maybe tomorrow or the day after?
23:14Do you have any more clarity on that?
23:16I do not.
23:17Hello.
23:33Hi.
23:34How are you?
23:34Good.
23:35Welcome, welcome.
23:36Happy to be back.
23:42Likewise.
23:43Likewise.
23:44Likewise.
23:45Much needed.
23:46Yeah.
23:47Absolutely.
23:48How have things been set down?
23:50Um, a little crazy.
23:53Yeah.
23:54To say the least.
23:55What's been happening since I last saw you?
23:57Oh, since you last saw me.
23:59Well, we were supposed to meet about five weeks ago, and my daughter went into the hospital.
24:05My daughter was having seizures.
24:06Wow.
24:07Over and over and over again.
24:08And what was thought to be like, oh, you know, we'll get there, and we'll figure it out.
24:20Ended up being a nine-day stay.
24:22Uh, which was, which was brutal.
24:29And so, in turn, I was late for camp.
24:33Even with being late for camp, and now looking back on it, I definitely rushed back to camp
24:38where she was out of the hospital.
24:41Like, when I went back to practice, I was, every little thing just snappy at everything.
24:46You know, and like, Coach Kurt said this, I was like, I don't want to hear that, you know.
24:51Everything was bothering me.
24:53But that's because I hadn't quite processed what I needed to process with the situation.
24:58And so, it's just a carryover.
25:01Do you get to feel your feelings enough?
25:04Because, you know, part of when you come into that space, when you have a big life, that keep going, it's ingrained in you.
25:11It's your natural way of being.
25:13I know for me, at least, I can't speak for everyone, but you definitely don't tap into those feelings as much.
25:19What were some of those feelings that didn't get a chance to emerge when you found out what was happening, when you were experiencing what was happening?
25:29Fear.
25:31Because then in that moment, right, like, I can't let her see me afraid.
25:43Because she's probably terrified.
25:46What does fear feel like when it's inside of you?
25:49Fear for me feels weakening.
25:52And so, in turn, in feeling that fear, you try not to process that fear because I need to be in a place of, like, strength.
26:05So many men are robbed of the opportunity to make friends with fear, to make friends with pain, to make friends with sadness.
26:14Did you give yourself a chance to cry or to feel scared?
26:22No.
26:23Uh-uh.
26:24Did a part of you want to?
26:29Uh, yeah.
26:31Yeah.
26:32For sure.
26:33Because the reality is I was terrified.
26:36Yeah.
26:37Yeah.
26:38You know, like, but I also, through it I learned more about myself and talking with my mother.
26:46Uh, I took seizure medications until I was 28 years old.
26:51Wow.
26:52I haven't had one since I was 13 years old.
26:56But I was on medication until I was 28.
27:01And I had some bad ones as a child.
27:06Like, I had one seizure for an hour and 30 minutes.
27:10Oh, my God.
27:11I think one of the challenges when dealing with all of these things is, like, actually staying in that moment, figuring it out.
27:19Um, feeling the moment.
27:21Like, that is the challenge.
27:23So what we're walking into right now is we're gonna do some Karuna Reiki.
27:28And Reiki is a beautiful healing energy.
27:33And so what I'll do is I'm gonna place some hands on you and send some energy down to you.
27:38You'll just be fully relaxed.
27:40You may feel it.
27:42You may not.
27:43Every experience is different.
27:45But whether it's felt or isn't, the energy is moving through you.
27:49And it's going where it needs to go to help heal and remove any emotional blockages.
27:54Um, heal physical symptoms or ailments.
27:59Um, it's a really, really beautiful ancient energy system.
28:04I'm gonna just walk around you with a little bit of this scent.
28:11So just taking a few deep breaths.
28:15I think it helped a lot that you're submerged into peace.
28:23Like, this very peaceful, serene setting, quiet, relaxed, chill.
28:35Take a deep breath.
28:36Figure it all out.
28:37Like, be present in this moment.
28:41And when you're ready, gently open your eyes and you can release your hands.
28:56How do you feel?
28:58Present.
29:00I feel good.
29:03Alright, let's go meditate.
29:06Today I felt refreshed.
29:16Because it, after such a long break, to kind of get back with Debbie on some of those principles that I can't quite just pick up myself like that.
29:31To reconnect and, like, talk about some real life shit that's, like, going on, you know?
29:38And, like, being able to talk through that and it lead to other conversations I thought today was incredible.
30:01Alright.
30:02I am honored today to have a guest who I have the utmost respect for.
30:09A guy who I had the honor of growing up watching play.
30:13Meadoworld Peace.
30:14Man, thank you, Meadow, for coming on to the show.
30:16It's an honor to have you on, brother.
30:18Hey, same here, man.
30:19It's an honor to be here.
30:21Growing up, I always would cheer for the Lakers because I loved Kobe and Shaq.
30:26Then, obviously, they split up.
30:28And I'm like, man, I still love Kobe.
30:30I love that dog.
30:31And then you go have that moment in game seven.
30:33Artest.
30:34That's a three.
30:35Bang!
30:36Lakers by six with a minute to play.
30:41One of the biggest moments, I personally think, from that moment was afterwards.
30:46You said you wanted to shout out your therapist.
30:49I definitely want to thank my doctor, Dr. Sandy, my psychiatrist.
30:54She really helped me relax.
30:55I was in college when this happened.
30:58And I laughed.
30:59Like, ha, what?
31:01Like, what?
31:03He mentioned to his therapist during the interview?
31:06Ha, ha, ha, ha.
31:07Like, I laughed.
31:08It's Meadoworld Peace.
31:10He talks shit.
31:12He gets into guys.
31:14He's elbowing guys.
31:15He's tough as nails.
31:17And the first thing he mentions is his therapist?
31:22If it did nothing else, it made you further your understanding.
31:29And he started to trailblaze a path.
31:33What gave you the confidence or made you want to speak on that?
31:37That's actually true of me in a confidence because, like, at that time, your most vulnerable states, one would take that for weakness and things like that.
31:44And I just felt like the strength was in, you know, improving yourself.
31:47The strength was in being vulnerable.
31:49And that's what's going to help other people, you know, that's going through things and don't really know quite how to get through it.
31:56You know, when you're trying to improve yourself, that's big.
31:58And I just wanted to give credit where credit was due.
32:02Because for me, the game was everything to me.
32:05And how can you, you know, be effective on the court if you're not focused?
32:09So that's like sports therapy.
32:11No, it's a beautiful thing.
32:13And I want to say thank you for having the bravery that you had to come out and speak on that.
32:20Now, I think we have three mental health professionals now on staff.
32:26They're in, at least one of them's in at least once or twice a week.
32:30And I think it's a beautiful thing because you hear so many people in our league go through it.
32:38Yeah.
32:39And so many people suppress it.
32:41No matter, again, man, I just want to say thank you for coming on to this podcast, for sharing your light and the way you've led for guys like myself coming behind you.
32:53And you really set a path in this NBA for guys to attack the things that they need to attack.
33:00And we appreciate you.
33:01Nah, thanks a lot, man.
33:02I really appreciate being on.
33:03She was a honor.
33:04The NBA season is here.
33:27The Warriors are set to make another run at a title beginning tonight.
33:31And the Warriors are 17-2.
33:33The Warriors are on an eight-game winning streak.
33:36They have been pulverizing.
33:38They look like the best team in basketball.
33:40Draymond Green is infused with a new energy.
33:43Draymond Green is the quarterback of this team.
33:48The story of the year so far in the NBA, I believe, is the Golden State Warriors.
33:52As long as they are healthy.
33:54If they are healthy, they will contend for a championship.
33:57Said and done.
34:01Stay committed to that left leg.
34:03Yeah, that's good.
34:04Reinforce that.
34:05Yes, sir.
34:06Nice and strong down here.
34:08Nice and relaxed up top.
34:09Good.
34:10Warriors forward Draymond Green says he now expects to be out for another three to four weeks due to the lower back injury.
34:16That's already sidelined him for 14 games.
34:20Draymond Green was named as a reserve for the NBA All-Star game today.
34:24But his slow-to-heel back injury is going to keep him on the sidelines for the All-Star festivities.
34:29Draymond right now is dealing with a, you know, what started as a very concerning injury.
34:35This has been a challenge for Draymond and for me and for all of us.
34:40Again, because of the nature of the injury.
34:42There's not a set timeline.
34:45Stay there. Stay there. Don't let it fall.
34:47It's going to be a tough one. Hold.
34:49It can be very isolating and it's, it's quiet in here.
34:52You know, we, a lot of times it's just the two of us and that can be challenging at times.
34:57It's a very holistic, integrated model that, that includes, you know, the physical and the mental.
35:07You start to realize that it is sort of a 360 degree approach and, and, and considering everything, you know, on the court but also off the court and not just in the training room or, or the gym but also, you know, lifestyle and, and what's happening at home and, and understanding all the different stressors our players have to deal with.
35:24Coming into the season and dealing, you know, with things with my daughter, that was already a little weird.
35:32And then I had COVID.
35:35And then shortly after having COVID is when, uh, the injury happened.
35:41I think there's days that you wake up and, like, you immediately know, like, you're not there.
35:45How do you get there?
35:46And I think that's, uh, one of the biggest things for me is being able to identify when I'm not centered.
35:53And knowing that, whew, fucking go.
35:58Like, if I can go back and, and draw from my day with, with Deepak, I can hear, still hear in my mind, him speaking on self-awareness.
36:08And totally losing myself in that moment.
36:12I definitely can see the benefit. Like, I can feel the benefit.
36:19Yeah, Dre.
36:20In large part due to me just being so centered and, like, to not fall into the whole feeling sorry for myself trap.
36:27Coming back.
36:29Ready?
36:30Go.
36:31Oh, that run coming back!
36:34Let's go, Richter.
36:35Let's go.
36:36Coming back.
36:37But only really allowing myself mentally to go to embracing the process ahead of me.
36:43Where am I now on a scale of one to ten from an emotional state?
36:49I'd say I'm at a nine, eight, nine. I think I am in as good a place as I've ever been.
36:59And you know the things that would have moved you. Like, to be able to get past those things and they don't move you off your square.
37:08It's a big deal for me.
37:12I'll tell you the most rewarding part of it all is I've had people like Rick, Bob Myers, Coach Kurt, like, come to me and say, like, you're in such a great space.
37:24Honest to God, Dre.
37:26Like, it's glaringly noticeable.
37:28For real.
37:31You know, it's the sessions. It's the experiences. You take all of these things and you put them into one person. And you have so much to draw from.
37:43You get a person that understands that they have reached new heights.
37:50But most importantly, you get a person that understands that that work always has to continue and it never ends.
37:56Some people would think, oh, that's the end of it for him. For me, it's the beginning.
38:00Because the work still continues. The work is nowhere near done.
38:04And so for me, it's the beginning of the beginning.
38:07And we mankind in another big company.
38:09Yeah.
38:11So we know them once again, and that'll begin.
38:17Okay.
38:19Yeah.
