00:14The Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers are finalizing.

00:18A trade that will send Pickens to Dallas for a 2026 third-round pick,

00:22sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

00:25The Cowboys will also send a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Steelers

00:28and get back a 2027 sixth-round pick, sources said.

00:32Three weeks ago, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones

00:35hinted the club was working on substantive trades involving players.

00:38That could be completed before or after the NFL draft.

00:43Had Ted Iroa McMillan been available when the Cowboys picked No. 12 in the first round,

00:48the wide receiver would have been Dallas' first-round pick, sources said.

00:52But he went No. 8 to the Carolina, Panthers.

00:55The Cowboys did not pick a wide receiver in the remaining six rounds, despite the need.

01:01Pickens, a second-round pick of the Steelers in 2022,

01:04is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract.

01:08Steelers general manager Omar Khan had said in February

01:11that the team was looking to reach a deal with Pickens,

01:14but now appears to be moving on.

01:17The trade comes as Pickens' role as the Steelers' top wide receiver

01:20appeared to be supplanted after Pittsburgh traded for DK Metcalf in March.

01:25The Steelers are also awaiting an answer from quarterback Aaron Rodgers

01:30about whether he will play in 2025.

01:33The Cowboys will have their starting quarterback, Dak Prescott,

01:36back after he missed the final nine games last season

01:38with a hamstring avulsion that required surgery.

01:41With Lamb and Pickens, the Cowboys have their best wide receiver.

01:45DuoSynce Lamb was paired with Amari Cooper in 2020-21.

01:49Dallas acknowledged the desire for a No. 2 wideout at several points in the offseason

01:53and had conversations with several clubs regarding a trade

01:57before setting their eyes on Pickens.

02:00Pickens, 24, had 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns last season.

02:05He posted at least 50 receptions, 800 yards, and three touchdowns

02:09in each of his three seasons with the Steelers.

02:11He missed three games in 2024 because of a hamstring strain

02:14and had a number of on-field incidents.

02:17Pickens was flagged twice for unsportsmanlike.

02:19Conduct in a Week 13 win against the Cincinnati Bengals.

02:23A week earlier, he was involved in a scuffle

02:25with Cleveland Browns cornerback Greg Newsome, too,

02:28during a Hail Mary attempt.

02:58but there's certainly a heck of a lot more ground to be covered,

03:01and we'll see where it leaves us.

03:03Last season, the Cowboys

03:04sent a 2025 fourth-round pick to the Panthers for Jonathan Mingo,

03:08who caught five passes for 46 yards

03:10but did not play with Prescott.

03:12Jalen Tolbert, a third-round pick in 2022,

03:18yards, 610, and touchdowns, 7, which led the team.
