00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Houstonbets and today's video is all about some of the amazing events and activities that we've got going on across Manchester this week.
00:09Now as always there's lots and lots to talk about so we'll get straight into it.
00:13And we're going to start with the Greater Manchester Walking Festival which started this Monday and goes right up until the end of the month.
00:19It's been organised to coincide with National Walking Month and the festival encourages people from across Greater Manchester to get out and walk along some of our amazing hiking routes.
00:27Over 400 organised group walks will be hosted over the course of May with opportunities for people of all ages to get involved.
00:34A fair few routes are also accessible which means that those in wheelchairs should be able to participate and it ties in perfectly with Manchester Council's desire to encourage walking or cycling as opposed to driving in the region.
00:44For those that want to get in shape this is a great place to start.
00:47Moving on to the theatre now and there's a couple of amazing opportunities for you with two great shows appearing at home and the Palace Theatre.
00:53At home Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece North by North West is on.
00:58The Spy Classic has been adapted to the stage and turned into a humorous delightful show about the Cold War and conspiracy.
01:04That show is on up until Saturday the 10th of May.
01:07Meanwhile at the Palace Theatre Mary Poppins is your option.
01:10It's a wonderfully engaging performance of a story that we all know well I'm sure.
01:14Headlined by two Australian stars the show has brilliant choreography, great laughs and awesome songs.
01:19It's on until the 17th of May so it's absolutely worth getting a ticket for.
01:23Finally over at Dunham Massey, Origin have introduced a new audio installation.
01:27The new deep listening experience will prompt exploration of life and the human being's connection with nature through sound and light.
01:34It feels as though it would be a great opportunity for reflection and is well worth a visit.
01:37But that's all for now. Thank you very much for watching and follow Manchester World for more.
01:41We'll see you again next week.
