FX is finally giving us details on season two of its Emmy-winning drama 'Shōgun.' Season two of the series — which set a record at last year's Emmys with 18 wins — is set to begin production in Vancouver in January 2026. The announcement finally comes almost a year after FX announced it was developing two additional installments in May 2024.

00:22Co-creators and showrunners Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks
00:25recently wrapped a writer's room for the coming season,
00:27which will jump off from the James Clavel novel that formed the source material for Season 1.
00:33FX also has released the first sketch of what Shogun Season 2 will look like.
00:37Per FX, the show will pick up 10 years after the events of the first season
00:41and continue the historically inspired saga of these two men from different worlds
00:46whose fates are inextricably entwined.
00:49Hiroyuki Sanada, who won the Emmy for Best Lead Actor in a Drama last year,
00:53will reprise his role as Lord Yoshi Toranaga
00:56and Cosmo Jarvis is also set to return as English sailor John Blackthorne.
01:01FX has yet to announce any other confirmed cast for the series,
01:05which is also the most-watched show in FX's history.
