00:00Grandy, was it you on the post last night? I only caught a little bit, but did I hear you say something along the lines of,
00:10Yeah, where are all the Steve Kerr haters now?
00:14Yeah, something along those lines.
00:15Yeah, that was you, right?
00:16Yeah.
00:16Yeah. Yeah, where are they?
00:18Buddy Heald in the starting lineup? And played Steve Adams off the court?
00:22Well, that's the Hacking Adams?
00:23The Hacking Adams with four minutes to go changed the game.
00:26Because there are certain things in sports for which you have no answer.
00:32And we can yell at our television all we want.
00:36But there was no answer for Steven Adams' offensive rebounding.
00:41Actually, there was an answer. Steve Kerr found it.
00:44He found it. And he hacked him twice.
00:48Kavon Looney is a hugger. He's that kind of a guy.
00:51And so Steven Adams had to get taken out of the game.
00:55Or else he was about to be parading to the free throw line.
00:59And that is not the possession that the Rockets wanted.
01:02So he got to be taken out.
01:04And immediately, things opened up on both ends of the floor for the Warriors.
01:09No more blocked shots by the Rockets.
01:11Right.
01:11No more offensive rebounds by the Rockets.
01:14The Warriors were able to play freer.
01:15And they came back and won the game.
01:18Also, Steven Adams is a free agent.
01:21He should be a Warrior next year.
01:23Yeah, but we're not going there.
01:24Quick aside.
01:25No.
01:25We're staying in the moment.
01:26And you're a big fan of that.
01:28I can say that.
01:29You can say whatever you want.
01:30I just think somebody like that would be really helpful in spots for what the Warriors do.
01:37That's all.
01:38That would mean no more Kavon Looney.
01:40That might be the case anyway.
01:41But, I mean, I think you could probably keep Kavon for a lot less than what Steven Adams will cost next year.
01:47But, to your point, if you want to look at the game log, there is six and a half minutes to go.
01:53Adams rebound.
01:54Adams missed tip.
01:55And then Chagoon gets it.
01:56It's a putback.
01:57Other end of the floor, Adams block.
02:00Then back on offense to Houston.
02:02Adams rebound.
02:03Adams tip layup.
02:04He makes it.
02:05Rockets up by three.
02:06And you finally get to the point where the Rockets are up by four.
02:09And Steve Kerr makes the call.
02:11He orders the code red.
02:13And did you order the code red?
02:15You're gosh darn right, I did.
02:17You're doing right, I did.
02:18Yeah, you're doing right, I did.
02:19And it's Looney foul.
02:21Two seconds later, Looney foul.
02:24And then Smith Jr. in for Adams.
02:27That'll do it.
02:27There you go.
02:28Substitution.
02:29Yeah, and that's when Draymond came in for Kavon as well.
02:32Like, you know, Kavon, easy there.
02:34You're about to foul out of here in three seconds.
02:36And it was one foul away from bonus.
02:38And he would have committed it.
02:39And they would have put him on the line.
02:41Because when you're outside of, I think it's four minutes.
02:44Or it certainly is two minutes.
02:46Two minutes.
02:47In the final two minutes, you cannot hack a blank.
02:50You cannot foul off the ball.
02:51And Stephen Adams is not going to be on the ball unless he's rebounding.
02:55So, Steve Kerr made a great decision to do that.
02:58And he basically took him off the floor.
03:00I know that we do this sometimes.
03:02Some people dig it.
03:03Some people don't.
03:04But that plus-minus stat, Stephen Adams, plus 16 in a game they lost by three.
03:13And for those who don't speak box score, that means that when he was on the floor,
03:18the Rockets beat the Warriors by 16 points, he was low-key the problem.
03:25And if you got a problem, yo, Steve will solve it.
03:29Okay?
03:30Check out the hook while your head coach revolves it.
03:33Nice.
03:34Okay?
03:35He fixed that thing.
03:37And the Warriors won the basketball game.
03:38Stephen Adams on the year, by the way.
03:41Free throw shooting?
03:42Um, do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do.
03:45Probably about 55.
03:4646.
03:47Yeah?
03:4846% free throw shooter.
03:49And one of two last night.
03:51And he would have been heading to the line.
03:52And if you're Steve Kerr, you're thinking, okay, go ahead and hit one of two.
03:56That means it won't be a Fred Van Vliet three, and it won't be a Shen Goon two.
04:00If it's an Adams one, then the Warriors will take that.
04:04And we'll ask Steve about that strategy.
04:06Absolutely.
04:06You know, whether or not that's something that they'll look to do again,
04:10coming up today at 5 o'clock.
04:11Closeout game number one underway.
04:13Tipped off in Indiana.
04:14Pacers and Bucs.
04:16This is the where's Giannis want to play next year game, possibly,
04:20if the Pacers can win it.
04:21Yes, the Eastern Conference could be down to the conference semifinals
04:26by the time we go to bed tonight.
04:29Three elimination games in a row.
04:31And then the nightcap will be the bloodbath in Denver.
04:36Game five between the Clippers and the Nuggets.
04:39Yeah.
04:39But buckle up for a long day of basketball.
04:41Starting right now.
04:42Right now.
04:43Yeah, it's going to be awesome.
04:44It's really good.
04:45It's really good.
04:45Okay.
04:47Let's go to Dub Dad in Pleasant Hill.
04:50Hi, Dub Dad.
04:51What are you doing?
04:54What's up, fellas?
04:55Long time listener.
04:57First time caller.
04:58Got a lot to talk about.
04:59I think when I came on, it was a take on Jimmy Butler and why he's helping us win.
05:05And there's one word for that.
05:07There's one reason why Jimmy's fitting in so well.
05:09And it's the Golden State Warrior culture.
05:12Jimmy Butler is a winner.
05:14The problem he's at at every team revolved around losing and him feeling like the people surrounding him were not contributing at the same level of effort that he was putting into it.
05:26You don't see Jimmy Butler showing up out of shape.
05:29You don't see Jimmy Butler winded.
05:31He ain't never breathing hard.
05:32That's because he puts in the work.
05:34He's got the work ethic that fits into the Warriors culture, just like Stephen Curry, just like Draymond Green.
05:41And now Pazinski, right?
05:43This kid's showing up and he ain't never tired because he's putting in the work.
05:46And that's why they're winning with Jimmy Butler, because Jimmy Butler is a fit for the culture of the Golden State Warriors.
05:54Well, and Dub Dad, I don't think it's a bad point at all.
05:58But my response to it is, who knew?
06:00Who knew?
06:02Like, let's be real.
06:03Never before in our lives have people run around in NBA circles and been like, ooh, Jimmy Butler, amazing culture guy.
06:11Right, glue guy.
06:12That's literally the opposite of what we've heard for over a decade.
06:17And so whether the Warriors culture gets credit, whether Jimmy gets credit, I'm sure there's plenty of credit to go around.
06:24But the bottom line is, yeah, man, this thing has not only fit perfectly, but Jimmy has opened my eyes to some things that I didn't know that he was.
06:34Right, and what he is is an absolute closer, and he's a glue guy.
06:38And just the way he fought through the pain of his bruised tailbone to make the plays that he made last night,
06:44five free throws that he made down the stretch, and a huge rebound that secured the game, that was basically why they won.
06:51Steph Curry was very quiet in the fourth quarter.
06:53He was quiet for most of the night offensively.
06:56And, you know, Buddy was huge, and Pods, Pazemski, whatever he called him, it counts, it all counts.
07:04I thought our days of that had ended.
07:07No, never.
07:08No, they never will go away.
07:10And so, you know, as good as he was, you still needed Jimmy Butler to be huge in the fourth, and he was.
07:16Let's keep going.
07:17888-957-9570.
07:18How about Ben in San Mateo?
07:20Hi, Ben.
07:20Thanks for calling.
07:21Hey, what's up, guys?
07:24Thanks for taking my call.
07:25Hey, man.
07:26I wanted to say that I think everybody at some point in their life has had, like, a good roommate or a bad roommate,
07:33and Butler is being the good roommate right now.
07:37He is aware of everybody else on the team, their little tendencies.
07:42He's, you know, the kind of guy where if you forgot something at home, you can count on to maybe know what it is
07:48or maybe fix it by the time you get home, he's filling that spot where it seems like a really easy, easy fit,
07:58but it's really, really hard to come by.
08:01And I just give him credit.
08:03Like, he's understanding all the little small things of his teammates,
08:08and he's just making them better, you know, off the court as well as on the court.
08:12So that's what I wanted to say.
08:13Yeah, Ben, I absolutely love it.
08:16That's kind of what my number one, and I think to have a good roommate, you need to be self-aware.
08:22You need to be aware of what's going on around you, right?
08:25You clean up after yourself.
08:26Don't let mold go on the food in the refrigerator, all of that stuff.
08:30And do your dishes.
08:31Yeah, the awareness.
08:32Don't make a mess.
08:33The awareness is a great word for what has pleasantly surprised me with regard to Jimmy Butler
08:42is the full awareness of everything that's going on around him.
08:44Absolutely, and just to do it in two months' time, to come in and hit the ground running
08:49and immediately figure out what you need to do to help this team
08:53and immediately become that guy.
08:56And, you know, even for the time that he wasn't here, the team was good and solid,
09:01but they needed that person.
09:03And for him to come in and fit like that with so many different people, it's been huge.
09:07Good.
