Death Warrant is a 1990 action thriller starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Detective Louis Burke, a tough Montreal cop sent undercover into a brutal prison to investigate a series of mysterious inmate deaths. Inside, Burke faces corrupt guards, ruthless prisoners, and a sinister conspiracy involving illegal organ harvesting. As he fights to survive, he allies with a sympathetic clerk, Amanda Beckett (played by Cynthia Gibb), and a witty inmate named Hawkins (Robert Guillaume). The deeper Burke digs, the closer he gets to uncovering the horrifying truth — and putting his own life in deadly danger.

Directed by Deran Sarafian and written by David S. Goyer, the film mixes martial arts, gritty prison drama, and suspense. Key villains include the chilling inmate known as "The Sandman" (Patrick Kilpatrick), adding a horror-like intensity to the fights. Other supporting cast members include Art LaFleur as Warden Tom Vogler and George Dickerson as the shady Sergeant DeGraf.

Death Warrant was one of the films that helped cement Van Damme's popularity in early '90s action cinema, showcasing his signature splits and fierce hand-to-hand combat skills.

00:22:54I ran your M.O. check on serial killers here.
00:23:02Nothing matches up.
00:23:05I checked all the death certificates and all the victims died of puncture wounds to the back of the skull.
00:23:09Maybe it's a serial killer, but I'm thinking maybe it's gangs.
00:23:14Like a ritual killer.
00:23:16Let's concentrate on the victims.
00:23:19Okay.
00:23:20Last one was Alvin Barrett.
00:23:26He's cellmate.
00:23:27I'll talk to him.
00:23:29You did good.
00:23:30Thanks.
00:23:31I need you to give me some money.
00:23:32Fine.
00:23:33I'll have the office credit your prison account this afternoon.
00:23:34That's no good.

00:23:36Inmates aren't allowed to have cash.
00:23:37You'll find a way to bring me the money.

00:24:09You'll find a way to bring me the money.
00:24:11Easy.
00:24:12Louis, I don't know if I can do that.
00:24:13Tell the kid that he loves that.
00:24:26I'm telling you, I won't condone it.
00:24:30Mr. Keene, if you won't authorize the money, I'll give it to him myself.
00:24:34Don't play games with me, Miss Beckett.
00:24:38You are a liaison on this case and nothing more.
00:24:41Ben, take it easy.
00:24:43Don't let him get to you.
00:24:53Another one of your lovely peers?
00:24:57Hi, Helen.
00:24:59Thank you, Rosarita. I'll do it.
00:25:03Oh, I stopped asking Tom about these investigations years ago.
00:25:07It's all so sordid anyway.
00:25:10What about politics interested you?
00:25:11No, not anymore.
00:25:13Since I got out of the hospital, things have taken on a new perspective.
00:25:17Hey, puto. Remember me, eh?

00:28:52You're Lobo, Burke. You know that.
00:28:58I am Lobo.
00:28:59Yeah.
00:29:00You know how wolves stake out their territory pissing on things?
00:29:04I figure you pissed on just about everything around here.
00:29:08You know everything, right?
00:29:10Been here a long time.
00:29:12What are you in for?
00:29:14Murder.
00:29:14Murder.
00:29:17Let me guess. You're...
00:29:20You're innocent.
00:29:22Right?
00:29:23No.
00:29:27I choked to some bitch on right just shows I'm sitting here.
00:29:31Been here over ten years.
00:29:33That's a long time to be rolling smokes and counting cockroaches.
00:29:40What's that?
00:29:40Making shots for zip guns.
00:29:47Scary times.
00:29:48People getting spiked in their head and shit.
00:29:52Got to learn to defend yourself so you don't get dusted.
00:29:56You probably figure out who you're something because of what you did the other day.
00:30:04Barrett.
00:30:05Who killed him?
00:30:07He was my friend.
00:30:09Let me tell you something, boy.
00:30:11I don't know you jack shit.
00:30:13You want to know what happened to your friend?
00:30:20See the priest.
00:30:21Damn, man.
00:30:21The priest?
00:30:24That's all I'm saying.
00:30:25I'm telling you, man.
00:30:29The lower you go, the funkier it gets in this place.
00:30:32Down where we're going, the guards won't even come down here.
00:30:34This guy I'm going to do sushi to.
00:30:37Freeze, man.
00:30:38He's part fucking snake.
00:30:39I know you think I'm shitting you, but I'm not, man.
00:30:41What do you see his eyes?
00:30:42Don't look at him too long, though, man.
00:30:44It gives me the fucking creeps.
00:30:45I'm telling you.
00:30:46You got to cover your ass down here.
00:30:47And I mean that literally, man.
00:30:48That's not a figure of speech.
00:30:49Don't blow your mind, man.
00:30:54You get to see this.
00:31:19What are you talking about?
00:31:38Look, that's not the deal we made.
00:31:40Please.
00:31:41Listen.
00:31:43Look, I want my stuff now.
00:31:46Like I started saying before, Priest, Miss Berkman.
00:31:55Yeah.
00:31:56I heard you went airborne on Perez.
00:32:01You want a lady?
00:32:04No.
00:32:06He thinks he's too good for me, Priest.
00:32:09What's wrong with my ladies?
00:32:12Nothing.
00:32:14I just need some help.
00:32:16I love lots of people.
00:32:33I get Jersey hormone pills.
00:32:36Is that the kind of help you want?
00:32:39Alvin Barrett.
00:32:40Who killed him?
00:32:42Someone punched a hole in his head.
00:32:44What?
00:32:47I can't just tell you these things.
00:32:50I give you a little.
00:32:51You taste it.
00:32:53That's how things work.
00:32:57You could talk to Meyerson, Barrett's former cellmate.
00:33:01He's in solitary now, but he works in the infirmary, night shifts.
00:33:08He can fill prescriptions if you got the money.
00:33:13Sure, you don't want to sample my goods.
00:33:17Take a wrench.
00:33:18You got another one.
00:33:34He won't be offered to her.
00:33:41What is this?
00:33:43Goddamn medical waste.
00:33:44You're Marston?
00:34:05What do you want?
00:34:07I need some medicine.
00:34:08I got prescription drugs, morphine and uppers.
00:34:12What do you need?
00:34:13I hear you were a Barrett's cellmate.
00:34:14Was a good kid, huh?
00:34:15Yeah, well, he's dead now.
00:34:17Yeah, yeah.
00:34:18Yeah, drugs.
00:34:19Bad news.
00:34:21No way.
00:34:23He was as green as grass.
00:34:24He never did nothing.
00:34:25A convenience store robbery, and that's it.
00:34:28Maybe he was in a gang then, huh?
00:34:29I said he was clean.
00:34:31What are you so curious about?
00:34:32He was my friend.
00:34:36He got spiked in the head.
00:34:38Maybe you know how he did it.
00:34:43I'm not saying another word.
00:34:45Oh, yes, you are.
00:34:46Hey, fuck you.
00:34:50Hey, what is this?
00:34:53Let's throw it a pop.
00:34:56You're gonna drink this to that pop.
00:34:58Please, man, don't.
00:34:59Please, man, I didn't do nothing.
00:35:00Christ, look, they'll kill me if I talk.
00:35:03A guard let him in, not me.
00:35:05Lock up.
00:35:05Five minutes.
00:35:06Move it.
00:35:10I'll talk to you.
00:35:24Hello?
00:35:25It's Berg.
00:35:26I've got something.
00:35:27Oh, um.
00:35:28I'm Rosa.
00:35:32Okay, I'm ready.
00:35:34Barrett's cellmate is scared.
00:35:36Whatever's going on, the guards are involved.
00:35:39I need to see the victim's files.
00:35:42Well, the files haven't been transferred to computer yet.
00:35:44Harrison's files are all still at the prison.
00:35:50What are you doing?

00:36:27I need the key to the record's room.
00:36:30That can be arranged.

00:37:07Taking some pruno over to the guys in storage.
00:37:09Now, you know I'm going to have to take that, huh?
00:37:12Sure.
00:37:15You ever actually taste that stuff?
00:37:19I don't think so.
00:37:21Right, man.
00:37:22Well, maybe.
00:37:24Well, let me try some.

00:44:05I think somebody's gonna pay you a visit tonight.
00:44:08I'd think twice about sleeping.
00:44:13Thanks.
00:44:15I just hate to see a good man go to waste.
00:44:28I finally figured out the password.
00:44:30I had the computer running word variations for hours.
00:44:33Of course, you know, it was a special program that I devised myself.
00:44:39You know, I was reading this article in a men's magazine
00:44:42about the virility of men in their middle to late teens and...
00:44:46Right. Just do a tis-down.
00:44:48Right, here we go.
00:44:54Morpheus was a Greek goddess sleep.
00:44:56I'm a whiz at mythology.
00:44:58You criminals have a sense of humor.
00:45:03Yes! We're in.
00:45:04You're kidding me.
00:45:07No.
00:45:08Is there anything else you need?
00:45:10We'll print it out.
00:45:11Can you make a copy of this file?
00:45:13Sure I can.
00:45:14Great.
00:45:15What the hell is it doing?
00:45:20Someone is destroying it from the other end.
00:45:22Well, stop it.
00:45:24I can't.
00:45:25We just have to help us start the print copy first.
00:45:27I can't.
00:45:28I can't.
00:45:29I can't.
00:45:30I can't.
00:45:31I can't.
00:45:33Right.
00:45:36Just do it.
00:45:44Where's the spiral axis from?
00:45:45The'd firm ruth of one.
00:45:47Still checked up on the other abbreviation.
00:45:48HLATE is a coding system for tissue typing.
00:45:51system for tissue typing. I still check in on that other point of access. It's definitely
00:45:56someone outside the prison. Okay, that's our key player. This is my beeping number. You
00:46:02call me as soon as you find it out, okay? Tisdale, you, or a spell?
00:46:06All the sleep file contained was a whole list of prisoner ID numbers strung together along
00:46:21with the prisoner's blood types. Every person who was on that list has been killed. It's
00:46:27a hit list. Exactly. Each victim had a physical daze before they were killed, and each one
00:46:32came up clean. You know, no, uh, no diseases, no, no drug addiction, nothing. I think that
00:46:37someone from the outside is working with the guards. Cain. Cain would have access to the
00:46:45files. Oh, Burke, there's something else. Your number's next on the list.
00:47:02Cain. Cain.
00:47:20Oh, Burke.
00:47:24What's going on out of here?
00:47:41Jesus, grab him.
00:47:54What are you doing?
00:48:24What are you doing in my prison?
00:48:28Something wrong with your mouth?
00:48:48You killed Kenneth.
00:48:53You need to let him.
00:48:56I know.
00:49:08I'm a stripper.
00:49:15You.
00:49:16You.
00:49:17You.

00:50:28What's going on?
00:50:29What do you want?
00:50:32You want a talk.
00:50:34Just like Berk.
00:50:35I didn't, I didn't talk to Berk.
00:50:37I didn't say nothing.
00:50:39Talk to Burk. This is bullshit. What is that?
00:50:48Oh, God.
00:50:49No. Hey, wait a minute. You can't do this.

00:50:57I want to go. I want to fade. You can't do this, man.
00:51:00Oh, God. Just stop. Stop. Wait a minute. Just wait one second.
00:51:05What did you say to Burk?
00:51:07Who said I talked? How did you find that out?
00:51:09That's bullshit, man.
00:51:11No. No. No. No.
00:51:13I swear to God, I didn't do it. Stop it.
00:51:16What are you doing? You're a bitch.
00:51:18What do you want me to do? What do you want me to do?
00:51:22I'll give you a second. What do you want? Stop it, dude.
00:51:25No, no, no. No, no.
00:51:26You're a liar, Marz.
00:51:28No, please. Please, I don't know.

00:52:07None seem to be available.
00:52:13Put the arms.
00:52:15I don't know.
00:52:34I'm sorry, Missy.
00:52:37But you're gonna have to remove your clothes.
00:52:43Your husband is waiting.
00:53:13Clean up and get dressed.
00:53:20Your pretty little wife wants to see you.
00:53:22You have a half hour, Brooke.

00:53:42Oh, God.
00:53:47It's okay.
00:53:49Who did this to you?
00:53:51The guards.
00:53:52They let two prisoners into my cell.
00:53:54One of them had an ice pick.
00:53:56At least we know it's been spanking people.
00:53:59What about you?

00:55:05to South America. South America. And, um, yeah, there were, um, a couple of, um, malpractice suits.
00:55:35So beautiful.
00:56:05You guys all spooked because you think there's some big conspiracy.
00:56:15I'm pretty sure you know as well as I what's going on, man. Brother got his brain scrambled
00:56:20just last night, straight through the skull like a piece of meat. Could be me next, could
00:56:25be you.
00:56:26So big white Superman going to save our asses? What makes you think we want to be saved?

00:56:46Good work, Buckins.
00:56:48Thank the priest.
00:56:49Shit.
00:56:50Yeah, it's locked. They got this medical waste in and out of here day and night.
00:56:54Where does it go?
00:56:55I don't know. They got a special pickup for it. It's hazardous.
00:56:58Oh, yeah?
00:57:00Let's see what's inside. What's your eye?
00:57:02Funny. Hurry up.
