00:00Ellie, you bring up a really good point. This appears to be what is really hindering
00:05these talks is the latest peace proposal plan that the U.S. has put together. It's been really
00:11criticized. And it's over this plan for Russia to keep some of the territory that it has already
00:19annexed from Ukraine. Many people say this actually defies international law. And also
00:25Zelensky saying we're not going to give up Crimea. So where does this leave the negotiations going
00:33forward? How is Donald Trump going to make something happen now? Well, you know, when you're
00:41looking at Crimea, let's understand that Russia invaded Crimea under President Barack Obama.
00:48And, you know, you've got kind of a de facto situation right now. And as I understand it,
00:54the Trump administration is not asking the Ukrainians to recognize Russian control over
01:01Crimea. It's a question of whether the United States might offer that as a concession to,
01:06again, achieve a bigger picture here, which is an end to the war. And, you know, I think the question
01:12for President Zelensky is, well, what is his alternative? You know, what is his alternative
01:17plan? And again, you've got a de facto situation now existing for years. So, you know, look,
01:24these are very difficult questions, I understand, for these leaders to really be considering right
01:31now.
