Man runs into burning home to save pet dog

Brett Bauer, 36, from Kansas City, risked his life to save his roommate’s pit bull, Luna, during a suspected arson attack on April 17, 2025.

As flames spread through his neighbor's house, Bauer was evacuated but realized Luna was trapped inside her cage.

Despite the fire and smoke, he ran back into the building, managing to pull her to safety.

The fire, driven by strong winds, caused significant damage to Bauer’s home, though it wasn’t completely destroyed.

Authorities are investigating the fire’s cause, with arson suspected after Bauer reported seeing a suspicious figure in the area days before.
