00:00It's 105 When The Bounce, your girl Lori Mack here.
00:02And I have sitting in the seat the beautiful, amazing writer, director, singer, Katrina Bailey?
00:11Katrina Carson, that's my name.
00:12Katrina Carson? I should have asked you.
00:15No, it's okay. No, that's my name.
00:16Because I'm like, is that? But it sounds so good. It rolls off the tongue.
00:19It's okay. It's okay. Yes, Katrina Carson.
00:22Yes, thank you for having me.
00:23You look so gorgeous over there.
00:25Thank you. I tried.
00:26So you know why you're here. You know why we're here.
00:28Yes, yes, yes.
00:29We're here to hear about this beautiful play, Chronicles of Love.
00:32Can you please tell us a little bit more about this beautiful play?
00:34Yes, so Chronicles of Love is a duet show.
00:38It's a monologue show.
00:39It's an original production that I wrote.
00:42It is a navigation through love, pain, forgiveness,
00:47all those things that we all go through at some point.
00:51And I feel like everybody will be able to relate to at least one duet.
00:55And when I say duet, it may be a monologue or two people on stage at the same time
01:00that are going through a certain scenario and they're just trying to work through it,
01:05trying to navigate through it.
01:06So I feel like everybody will have one person on there that they can relate to.
01:10And that's what makes it so breathtaking.
01:12So just, ah, like I just, I just feel like everybody is going to enjoy it
01:17because I feel like it's going to be one thing they can take away from it,
01:20if that makes sense.
01:21Oh, that makes perfect sense.
01:22It's the energy that's given.
01:23You talk with so much passion.
01:25It's just, I'm just thinking about the parts and just the play
01:27and just the duets you say.
01:29So it's more like love, passion.
01:31All of those things.
01:32Everything that goes into it.
01:34I have a couple of the women that are doing monologues.
01:37So it is based off of a monologue series.
01:40I did do Chronicles of a Gen Z, a millennial.
01:43That was a straight monologue show.
01:44That was the first one.
01:45And so this one, yes, I'm adding.
01:48Like, is this your first play?
01:49No, this is my second.
01:50Okay.
01:51So I'm excited about it.
01:52It's a little bit different from the first,
01:54but like I said, it's a monologue show.
01:56So it's going to be something that I continue to do
01:58as I keep being inspired by people and their situations
02:01and even my life.
02:03So it's not going to be all about everybody else, right?
02:06Right.
02:06Well, you know, I don't mean to just backpedal back
02:08to your first play,
02:10but can we just dive a little bit into that
02:12so we can get a little bit more of a better understanding
02:14of how this second one came to be?
02:16Because I'm interested.
02:18So Chronicles of a Gen Z and Millennial
02:20is basically about, it's self-titled.
02:22Gen Z's and millennials,
02:24different things that they go through.
02:25Every person had their own particular monologue
02:28that was based on their life.
02:30The first act basically kind of introduced the character
02:32to the people.
02:34And then the second one kind of like was the resolve
02:37of what was happening.
02:38So each scenario, it was different things,
02:41relationships, work-related, just body image,
02:44just learning yourself and what you want,
02:47just imposter syndrome, things of that nature.
02:49So everybody had their own specific character
02:52and by the end it was resolved.
02:54And I was just hoping everybody took something from it
02:56and from the reviews, everybody loved it.
02:58That's why we're back.
03:00Okay, period.
03:01There we go.
03:01We're back with Chronicles of Love featuring duets.
03:03So this time we're just going to add
03:05a little bit more love, you know,
03:07a little bit more spark.
03:08So I hope everybody enjoys it.
03:10And I know that you're writing behind.
03:11Are you also in this play?
03:12No, I am just the writer and director.
03:15I am an actress, but these particular shows,
03:18I am just writing and directing.
03:19And I love it.
03:20I love being behind the scenes.
03:22I love writing.
03:24I just put out a book, actually, an e-book.
03:26Okay, let's get into it.
03:28I'm sorry, say it again.
03:29What's the book?
03:30I just put out a book.
03:31It's an affirmation book.
03:33It's called Give Yourself Roses.
03:35It's literally affirmations that I wrote for myself.
03:37Get out of here.
03:38And so I just wanted to just share with everybody.
03:41Just that little,
03:42sometimes you need a little dab of hope,
03:44you know, just to keep you going,
03:45a little sunshine.
03:46And I just felt like that's something
03:47I wanted to put out.
03:48So it's just an e-book.
03:49It's a small e-book.
03:50It's only a dollar.
03:51And where can they get this?
03:51Yes, on Amazon.
03:53So Kindle.
03:54So it is an e-book on Kindle.
03:55It's only a dollar.
03:56Just look up Give Yourself Flowers,
03:58written by Katrina Carson.
03:59Oh, that's beautiful.

04:03I mean, just a breath of fresh air.
04:06Just to know that you came out with a book.

05:28Can we be expecting
05:29more plays from you?
05:30Of course.
05:31Like I said,
05:32this is actually
05:33going to be
05:34more of a monologue
05:35show, Chronicles.
05:36So we'll have
05:37more than one.
05:38Yes.
05:38Yes.
05:39And then I am working
05:40on an actual,
05:41not just a monologue show,
05:42but another play production
05:44that is in the works.
05:45So I am writing.
05:46I write all the time.
05:47And I had so much.
05:48A lot of people don't know.
05:49I have a Bachelor's of Theater,
05:51a Bachelor's of Arts
05:52in Theater
05:52from Wayne State University.
05:54Okay, let them know.
05:55I've been writing
05:56and writing for years.
05:57And honestly,
05:58I felt like this was my,
06:00last year I said,
06:01I'm going to just put it out.
06:03I feel like sometimes
06:03you're just so afraid
06:04and you kind of
06:05keep things in a bubble.
06:06You're like,
06:06I'm not ready.
06:07I'm not ready.
06:08But honestly,
06:08you're never going to be ready.
06:10You just have to get ready.
06:11Put yourself out there.
06:13Just get ready.
06:14And then,
06:14what did Jay-Z say last night?
06:16You keep showing up.
06:17Okay, you keep showing up.
06:18You keep showing up
06:19until somebody else sees you.
06:21And even if you feel like
06:22they're not seeing you,
06:23you just keep showing up
06:24for yourself.
06:24And eventually,
06:25people are going to catch on.
06:27So, if you don't do nothing,
06:28if that's my advice
06:29for everybody this year,
06:30if you don't do nothing,
06:30just show up for yourself.
