00:00Police have arrested eight suspects in connection with a viral video showing a man being beaten up at an apartment in Johor.
00:12Seri Alam OCPD Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Sohaimi Ishak said police received a report from the 21-year-old victim
00:20claiming he was lured to the apartment in Plentong Baru Masai around 9.30 p.m. on April 18 by a woman he met online.
00:28He said the victim claimed that he was confined in the apartment and beaten by eight local men, sustaining injuries to his lips, ear and body.
00:38He said following a tip-off, police arrested the suspects at 2.30 a.m. on Monday at the same apartment.
00:45Five suspects have prior criminal and drug-related records, with four of them having tested positive for methamphetamine.
00:52All the suspects have been remanded for six days until Saturday to assist in investigations.
00:57The case is being investigated for wrongful confinement and for voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or means.
