00:00Pork is in the hands-down or is the hands-down favorite white meat among Filipinos.
00:05Little wonder how so many middlemen in the supply distribution chain are marking up their prices way higher for retail consumers.
00:13Arvelle Custodia dwells on the details on the latest DA undercover inspection in Marikina Public Market on pork retailers.
00:20The Department of Agriculture or DA and Department of Trade and Industry or DTI will be issuing a notice to explain to pork industry players
00:30who still fail to comply with the agreed farm rate price and the maximum suggested retail price or MSRP for local pork.
00:37This comes after 10 rounds of market monitoring conducted by DA around Metro Manila from last week until today,
00:43wherein it was found that the pork MSRP compliance level remained stagnant at around 25%,
00:50more than a month after its implementation.
00:53Baka magsulat na po tayo ng mga love letters kasi yun yung susunod na step para po ma-explain nila din
01:00for them to really take it seriously na meron po tayong pinapatupad na MSRP.
01:05The notice to explain is expected to be released this week.
01:08The farm rate price should only be P230 and P300 is the ceiling price for Sabit Ulo.
01:15Meanwhile, pork calves like hemp or pigue and pork shoulder or casim should not exceed P350 pesos per kilo
01:22and P380 pesos per kilo for pork belly or lempo.
01:25The Agriculture Department is also conducting its pilot testing for the car that will serve as a tracking system
01:32from pork producers to slaughterhouses.
01:34So yung system na ginagawa natin is galing sa farms, dinediretso na sa slaughterhouse.
01:40So at least isang biyahe, nakakaltas na natitipid na yun.
01:44This will help bring prices down and make pork more affordable for consumers
01:48and determine where price issues are occurring in order to prevent profiteering.
01:53Initial testing for full implementation of the tracking system may be completed by May.
01:57From PTV, Vel Custodio, Balitang Pambansa.
