00:00Hi, good afternoon everyone. Thank you for joining myself, Chair Sylvia Lim, and the new candidates that we will introduce to you today.
00:10Hi, good afternoon everyone. My name is Abdul Mohaymin and I am one of the Workers' Party's candidates for Sengkang GRC.
00:19I've been with Town Council since 2015 and through this I had the opportunity to work with the Al-Junit Haugang MPs.
00:28I know what it feels like to worry about your kids' future, housing loans, daily expenses, and whether you have enough during your retirement.
00:39These are the real struggles that the Sengkang residents have shared with me when I was on the ground.
00:47That is why I'm stepping up to speak up for them, to highlight their struggles and concerns and be their voice.
00:55I'm Kenneth Tiong, a father of two young children. I work in tech as an executive encoder and I've worked in finance as an analyst and macro trader.
01:05I'm stepping up because I've shared a dream of making Singapore a place where we build that future through real homegrown innovation.
01:15And building that future requires both cutting-edge ideas and a workforce that feels secure and valued enough to embrace change.
01:24My name is Alia Matar. I am a lawyer currently working as a legal in-house counsel in an MNC.
01:31I'm also a mother to three children.
01:33I joined the Workers' Party because I feel that Singaporeans need more representation in the parliament.
01:39The Workers' Party has shown itself to be a credible party that works hard to introduce policies that benefit Singaporeans from all walks of life.
01:47I am from the sandwich generation. That is to say, I take care of my children and I also take care of my aged father.
01:56I am, as a lot of Singaporeans are, concerned about the ever-increasing cost of living which affects everyone.
02:04Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Aline Chong. I'm also known as Xiang Peishan.
02:08As Pritam introduced, I currently work in philanthropy where I focus on education, early childhood development and youth mental health in Southeast Asia.
02:18Before joining the social impact sector, I spent six and a half years as a Singapore diplomat, including three years at the Singapore Embassy in Beijing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
02:27I decided to step up because I believe that unity does not equal uniformity.
02:33We need rational and constructive alternative voices that can contribute different perspectives in parliament to build a stronger Singapore.
